What a load of HORSE CRAP .. If this happened to me, I'd get the NRA involved so fast it's make their heads spin:

Windsor Street is usually quiet but late Saturday evening it was swarming with investigators from the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office.

"There was nine cop cars and four unmarked... And so we were a little concerned," said Chrissie Gillett.

"There were detectives, people in uniform everywhere," said Loma Broussard.

Detectives say they received an anonymous tip about possible illegal weapons inside a home on Windsor Street. "We found several weapons, approximately 55-60 weapons and we're unable to determine if any are illegal at this point," said Sgt. Robert Manuel.

Investigators say all of the weapons were found locked safely in a vault inside a shed behind the home. While 80 percent of them were rifles, several guns brought out have nearby neighbors concerned.

"Some of them have really long barrels and some of them look like they have the large magazines that would be automatic weapons. They wouldn't be just for hunting... So that's scary," said Gillett.

"That's scary, that's really scary. My husband hunts, but I mean we're talking -- lots of guns -- that's scary because somebody could go off. You don't know what they would do," said Broussard.

All of the guns were tagged, inventoried and taken to the sheriff's office where investigators will run serial numbers on all the weapons. At this point, investigators say no one is under arrest or wanted in connection with a crime.

I mean so what people own guns its their right. As long as they are abiding by the laws of their communities and state it shouldnt matter how many they have. yes maybe its a little excesive to own so many but hey who cares.

No one needs to own that many guns, thats pretty outrageous. Now if the guns were registered none of this would have happened, the police could have just ran the serial numbers and if everything was ok they wouldn't have had to take the guns, This really proves my point for having to register your guns.

If you have to register all your guns then when the liberals take over the country and outlaw guns they know who has them to try and confiscate them. I havent registered one of my guns at all. But i do have pictures and serial numbers written down and locked up at both my house and my moms. And my guns are locked in a gun safe. I dont see why it matters if the person wants to own that many guns that his right as a citizen in our country. If the individual isnt using them illegally then who cares.

You're MISSING the point.... This was an ILLEGAL seizure - there are NO laws on how many guns a person can own.. he was doing NO WRONG with them.. there were LOCKED UP.even when the cops arrived...

I guess there's a socialist, big-brother lover in every so-called repulican circle...

So how many is too many? Was their evidence of a militia or what? The government should just be able to get a warrant on your home, because I SAY you have X number of guns?

where does it say that it was illegal? they had a tip that the weapons might be illegal and so they took them to check them out. i mean it didn't say that they raided and busted into the house, it doesn't say much in fact. i would be totally against it if they would have done that.

they are taking them to check them out, they check out then fine..my bad..so sorry. if not then thank goodness that they caught it. i am all for collecting guns, but personally i would keep them in the house.

I was referring to NM's post, which seemed to think that anonymous tips were such a great idea, not too mention deciding there were 'too many' guns.

Some of the guns may have been illegal, we don't know. Im sure they just took the guns to make sure everything ok on them and then are going to return them.

WRONG. As far as I know there is not a law on the books that says how many guns you can own. As long as they are legal firearms the folks should have no problem. I would be extremely pissed if the federales showed up at my house to confiscate my [B]LEGAL[B] gun collection. I assume you are not a gun owner, because every gun that I have ever purchased came with a lot of paperwork.

They were in the house. One must assume the police obtained a warrant, based on tip.

And you are missing the point... they CANNOT just take your guns to "make sure they're not illegal" without a search-warrant or w/o illegal activity on behalf of the owner..

I even shared w/ this story w/ a bud of mine who's a cop and he was also calling BS on their bogus seizure...

No one needs to own that many guns, thats pretty outrageous. You arbitraily declare yourself the judge of need regarding guns, and I arbitrarily declare myself the judge of needing air. You don't need any--you don't get any. :bye:

Now if the guns were registered none of this would have happened, the police could have just ran the serial numbers and if everything was ok they wouldn't have had to take the guns, This really proves my point for having to register your guns.If the right to keep and bear arms were not infringed by notions that the right to keep and bear certain arms should be infringed, this would never happen--this really proves my point that the real purpose of registering guns is to harass gun owners and confiscate guns.

What. The. Fuck. Over.

I'm sorry. This is incredulous. The government has ABSOLUTELY NO RIGHT to take your legally-owned weapons. But, they did it during Katrina, and apparently, they'll do it again.

Screw Louisiana!!!

Who are you to tell me, or this guy, or anyone else, how many guns they "need?"

There is no logical reason to own 80 or so guns.

It doesn't matter. If people want to behave in a manner which is illogical to you, let them. It's called liberty.
