(CNN)Todd Palin, husband to former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, was seriously injured in a snow machine crash in Alaska on Sunday night and is in intensive care, a source close to the Palin family told CNN Monday.

Todd Palin is in serious but stable condition, Kevin Kastner, executive director of Iron Dog Inc., told CNN.

Kastner says Palin is scheduled for surgery on Tuesday and the family seems to be doing "pretty well."

Palin was out on a recreational ride with family but was found by a bystander at the time of the accident.
