Looks a little safer than the Walking Dead's CH-46 I had the pleasure of flying on more than twice.

Namvet. Because........ BOZO doesn't want to hurt his Friends in the middle-East, who happen to hate America, and Americans as much as BOZO hates America, and Americans.

That's why he had Kerry pretend he was investigating the RIGHT word to use for Intentionally Murdering people due to their religious beliefs. God...I mean ALLAH forbid...a member of the Muslim Brotherhood, and relatives of the Obama staff might get hurt.

Less effective aircraft , less of his muslim brothers get killed in his fake war on ISIS.
He arms ISIS, does anybody think he armed them to then kill them?
I cant wait to the day the entire truth comes out to the ignorant masses about his duplicity......
Damn snake...... -Tyr

A smart move for this type of conflict. An aircraft that can loiter for hours for force protection and attack rather than an F-16 that can only loiter for 15-20 minutes The military has also been looking at less sophisticated aircraft for fighting insurgency's and such as it doesn't need a mach 2.3 aircraft to drop dumb bombs in close support right where ya want them. I would like to see something like the A-1 Skyraider made again for such missions.

Here's a question: ''What would YOU use? The OV-10 is a highly effective machine. Crap, we used Skyraiders in Nam and they were prop-driven relics from the 40s or 50s. We used C-130s as gun platforms.Sometimes a "slow-n-go" works better than a FA-18.

I wouldn't choose the slow-n-go approach myself, but remember these asshats making the decisions are trying to keep collateral damage to a minimum. These designer airstrikes make me ill. So if anyone thinks I'm criticizing, just don't. I'm asking.

I think I addressed this already. I'd hit them with everything I had. B-52s followed by the FA-18's, and the ground covered by choppers to mop up. THEN you send in the ground troops. If you're a civilian in the way, oh f-ing well. Guess you should have chosen a better location.

Use more A-10 WARTHOGS....!!!
Those babies will shred everything down there, enemy tanks(they have few or none ) included.
Their heavy use of our armored vehicles , A-10 will decimate using depleted uranium rounds and that badass gatling gun.--TYR

Yeah, but as good as it is at what it does, the Air Force wants it gone to spend that money for F-35's that will never be as capable in that role.

Yes, that is all about billion dollar contracts and air force top brass getting kickbacks, and maybe obama siding with that too IMHO. Tyr

You must be older than dirt. Still want to use Sandy's?

Everything has its purpose. As a grunt, I LOVE CAS. And the longer they can stay around, the happier camper I am. They also make good targets for RPGs and SAAMs. Cost/risk factor. These chimps in DC playing at war don't care who they're putting on the line for no real reason. There's no objective. You know, like winning? They call it containment and do as little as possible and guess who has made it that way?

The media. These goobs don't want a bad story. "My God .. you killed 3 civilians while killing most of ISIS". Oh crap. Whatever do we do now?

Well, not old, just older than you kid.

A retro mod aircraft with all the modern stuff it need, built like an A-10 with lots of titanium armor, and can loiter longer.

I'm not going to argue with you. I grew up in an Air Force family. I'm also well versed in CAS by the Marines. I have ZERO issue with the slow-n-go. My preference is the Supercobra. The pilots are insane, for one thing. You get a squadron of them from an LHA providing CAS and you win. The only question is by how much.

But I STILL love watching the FA-18s roll in. That's when you know show's over folks. And I'm a grunt and hate airwingers, but I have to give them their due. They got balls.
