I can read fine but only if I put my reading glasses on. But at least all is fine when reading when they are available. For distance I am screwed, those glasses might as well go in the garbage.

But I sit at my computer more than any other activity. The screen is about 2-3 feet away, and probably about an inch or so elevated from eye level. I can read a little better with the reading glasses, but not like it helps if I pick something up and use them. I don't know if regular glasses would help from this distance or what the hell the issue is. But I definitely need to get back and get regular glasses too, before I start "accidentally" start running over the neighborhood kids.

Is that a legal way out, to say I needed glasses and didn't see the little bastards? :dunno:

Just self-identify as a 20:10-vision-having person. (shrug). Easy.

:D

Well, I still need to see! The worst is reading this screen - and driving. Almost feels like my "reaction time" is slower as a result, is that possible? I've been driving less and less until I get into the doc.

But when I was in the hospital with the kid yesterday, I was like 20-25 feet away from one of those eye charts and was able to read the sucker just fine, at least up to what you need for driving purposes. But seems like they get worse when they day goes on. But this morning is real bad on the computer, so I put the glasses on for like an hour, took them off and now I can't see shit. Damned if you do and damned if you don't!

You just have to adjust your 'script.

I know. But I'm one of those that is reluctant to see any type of doctor if I can help it, but will still bitch and moan when shit goes wrong. :)

I need reading glasses only. I just had my eyes checked and my distance vision
is exceptional.

Most of my time spent at work was well over half of the 12 hours
having to stare at several different computer screens, so I got
'technical' lens lenses for reading glasses. They do seem to
reduce eye strain.

Same here. Jim's still in his 40s. He's got a rude awakening coming.

Sounds like it's time for bifocals. I had an idiot doctor give my trifocals driving, computer and reading. They shrunk the field of view at the bottom. Looked like I had 2-3 of space as I side-swiped pulling into a parking space.

Agreed.

I tried them and they were awful.

OK, old age alert

I've had glasses for a while now, but I've vaulted into the trifocal area.

They work great for me for just about everything. The VA even had them made from photo-chromatic material.

Jim ain't got no VA, bubs. He DOES probably have Obamacare though. If he didn't have a job and wasn't white, he'd probably get them cheaper than you got yours.

I'm just LMAO because it was when I was about his age, on his damned board I had to start using readers. Paybacks a bitch jimnyc.

You can read?

All this time I thought you were using that Dragon talk to type and some sort of text to speech software...

I think I would rather have separate pairs. I know they say you'll get used to using them, but my eyeballs aren't patient enough!

I've been wearing glasses since I was 5 years old. And my latest eye doctor recommended my use of the laptop screen stare...should be 20 minutes on, 20 minutes looking elsewhere, and, if possible...frequently blinking, and closing my eyes for a few minutes in between.

It seems to work...IF I REMEMBER TO DO IT.

I just figured getting old was aches and pains and then you die. This whole losing your sight, aches and pains, endless doctors visits, 32 medications, can't eat this and can't eat that.. This shit is for the birds!

But you still have like a decade on me. :thumb:

You implying I'm a dummy?

p.s. - I would use that crap if it worked, must be my NJ/NY accent. Sometimes I talk into my cell while driving, send it, and then read what it sent and be like WTF?

Probably great recommendations for me. I often go without blinking without even realizing it until my eyes feel sore or burning. (that's usually the porn sites). :)

I hear ya. But now when I see older guys in all kinds of great shape, making it look easy, eating whatever they want, and usually rich to boot - I feel like stabbing those fuckers.

Imagine if I were to live to my 90's or higher. I'll be like a walking corpse.

I turned 40, a week later I was reading a book and was, WTF? I went from better than 20/20 to needing readers, to bi-focals, to tri-focals. With my hearing, I need good vision!
