I'm shopping for a GPS to put in my boat... anyone have input on a good one?

I'm looking at this one :

http://www.amazon.com/Garmin-GPSMAP-10Hz-GLONASS-Receiver/dp/B00AJVRWJM/ref=sr_1_19?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1464043453&sr=1-19&keywords=marine+gps

It seems that the standard procedure for GPS manufacturers is to sell you a unit with an inadequate 'base load' map, and then sell you a $300+ SD card with detailed information for nav & better maps.

I haven't looked around, but I'm sure there's probably hacked downloads on the interwebs for that additional stuff...

Garmin is good, but just be careful with it. A year later they might want $500 to upgrade.

I like my Garmin. Bought it back '12. It's not a marine GPS, so I guess I'm just expressing an opinion on the brand...

Maptech.com can give you decent topos, nautical charts, or even aviation maps.
