3 of us took a charter fishing trip out of Seward for halibut last Sunday - had a great time & caught a decent amount of fish.

We did fairly well, one halibut apiece and 4 Rock Fish (Red Snapper, China Rockfish, Sea Bass, etc.). Didn't get any monster sized, but the smaller ones are the best eating anyway!

I don't think I've had any. They don't tend to live off the FL coast. I can grill some kickass orange roughy though. I generally am a lobster/shrimp/crab legs guy. Actual fish I don't eat much. I just never had a taste for it. When I've gone out fishing it's always with someone that will eat my catch. I love to deep sea fish but I hate wasting natural resources. I wouldn't go out on my own because it would go to waste. I won't destroy something for no reason but sport.

I don't like fish - but when it comes to halibut, that's another story. Do yourself a favor and the next time you're out at a decent restaurant, order Crab-Stuffed Halibut. You'll think you died and went to heaven.

Sharon made up a batch of crab and shrimp stuffed halibut yesterday, and it was awesome! Possibly the most flavorful dish I can imagine.

It's a tad cool right now, but look at the mountains in the background there... the snow is still melting up there, so it gives a little chill to the air. In another month it'll be warm enough for swimsuits on this trip on a nice day.

When you come up to do your solo boonie / cabin experience, we'll take a trip down and nab a few more halibut. It's a fun excursion and well worth the effort.
