I need to get my logo embroidered on hats and aprons.

Has anyone converted png, jpeg or to eps files to embroidery files? The store I went to uses .emb or .dst.

They charge $50 to convert the file but I wanna learn how.

Thanks for the help!

The tech guy is usually pretty good:

Here's a video, don't know if it's selling something though. From the comments maybe not?

I've never had a charge from an embroiderer if i've sent them an EPS file.
but it's been a few years.

this guy on youtube used a program that might help.

I can tell you this, you can't use Photoshop or Illustrator (without any special 3rd party plugins) to create EMB or DST files.

Hmmm... that sounds like a rip off. I've always been able to convert any file for free with a little investigation.

Let me look into it.

WE should NOT Be condoning this type of Conversion. Look - explain to those pngs and jpegs they were CREATED ONE WAY. Doesnt matter what they FEEL LIKE. They need proper therapy to learn to accept what they are and what they are not.

Check this tutorial out, Crin :

Apparently the embroidery process gets difficult for the machines to read if it isn't simplified and I'm guessing the more colors you have in an image the more expensive it is.

You can download Sew Art here : http://sandscomputing.com/products-shop/sewart-embroidery-digitizer/

I downloaded it and checked it out, it's bug free. Gives you 30 days to make all your logos for free.

Cheers!

I appreciate everyone's input. Especially Darin. Thanks guys!

I tried Sew Art but my logo has 550 colors and a background. I got the color down to 360 +/- and getting rid of the perimeter background was a bit challenging. It was easier with jpeg instead of png.

550 colors?!for this chili logo? seriously?
no way.

I can to that with 20 or less..(i'm seeing 10-14). But I'd have to redraw/trace it in illustrator 1st.

I can't do it this week but if you can wait till next weekend I'll convert it to illustrator EPS and you can go from there.
