In the great fulfillment we must have a citizenship less concerned about what the government can do for it and more anxious about what it can do for the nation. - Warren G. Harding, address to the 1916 Republican convention.

Why am I the first Kinnock in a thousand generations to be able to get to university? [Pointing to his wife in the audience:] Why is Glenys the first woman in her family in a thousand generations to be able to get to university? Was it because all our predecessors were thick? - Neil Kinnock, British Labour Party

I started thinking as I was coming over here, why is it that Joe Biden is the first in his family ever to go to a university? [Pointing to his wife in the audience:] Why is it that my wife who is sitting out there in the audience is the first in her family to ever go to college? Is it because our fathers and mothers were not bright? Is it because I'm the first Biden in a thousand generations to get a college and a graduate degree that I was smarter than the rest? - Joe Biden

It's not unusual...

Hell, every President could be accused of plagiarizing his predecessor when it comes to a State of the Union address...

This is just the product of getting speech writers to write a speech rather than doing so yourself, any accusations of plagiarism etc should really just be comments upon inability to write ones 'own words'.

Not if the words ring true. Why bother re-writing what someone else said better?

What you should truly be concerned about is not the words, but WHO lived up to those words. Obama's been spilling words out of his a$$ for over a decade. His actions belie his words.

The whole brouhaha over Melania's speech yesterday was one of the funniest highlights of this convention. It had me giggling all day. Well....that and the thought of the BLM idiots trading urine with the Westboro idiots outside....lol.

I'm hoping today will bring some laughs too. Alas, I fear things will go south and violence will ensue starting today. The protestors outside are probably already getting bored.

All of this kind of whining with almost everything, anybody says, for whatever reason....seems to always become more important to complain about than PROFESSIONAL LIARS like Hillary, and Obama.

Children must always find something to complain about.

I would give it a bit of thought in a way, but to avoid this kind of 'cheap-shotting', use something in the line of
"To Quote the Words of ________ (Fill In The bBank)", or "To paraphrase ________-(FITB)'....

Just an idea...

The irritating thing about THAT is, I catch myself caveating everything I say on this board. If I don't speak plain and clear enough the problem is YOUR hearing (in this case reading) what you want to hear instead of what's being said. I get called brutal all the time, and told you don't have to guess what I'm thinking.

If I quote someone on the board, I make sure it's noted as a quote. If I happen to have the same ideals as someone else and say the same words, I made the ideal mine, not necessarily how it's written/spoken.
