If anyone thinks that's weird...

I think it's from the host country, but every Olympian arriving in Rio this year will be provided with condoms. They will be zika proof, for starters. But 450,000 condoms in total!!! That is 42 condoms per athlete. WTF?? They will be busier in their bedrooms than they will be in their respective fields of play!!

There are a few things athletes want to take home from the Olympics: medals, good memories, new friends. But there are a couple of things Olympic organizers hope athletes won’t take with them: venereal diseases and unwanted pregnancies. That’s why officials are providing 450,000 condoms to the athletes this year.

“This is considered sufficient to encourage athletes to practice safe sex while in Brazil for the Olympic Games,” IOC officials told Brazil’s Folha de Sao Paulo newspaper, which noted that this is the most condoms ever handed out around Olympic Village, where most of the athletes stay.

With 10,500 athletes set to compete this summer, that’s 42 condoms a piece, which means athletes would have to be getting busy more than twice a day to use them all. In London, officials gave out just 150,000 condoms to the athletes, or just 14 per athlete.

Sorry here, Rev. This was actually originally in your other thread, and it was OT, so I moved it out, and that's why you see the similar titles.

I don't know for sure if this is the first time ever to happen,
but I really think it is bizarre!

42, huh? Not exactly a round number. What does that work out to per day?

Depends. If your sport is day #1, and finishes that day as well. Let's just hope they handed out a little viagra as well!! :coffee:

If me, when much younger, and of course pre-wife.... I would have had to of checked out the international cuisine. Check out the women's track teams and go from there. I would normally say to check out the swimming teams too, but not this year, the damn water is like swimming in pure pollution. They said there is literally *nasty* feces and such in the waters not too awfully far away. They are just trying to clean up that one area for appearances. They also tested the water they will be swimming and boating in and it's got all kinds of nasty bacteria they call "super bacteria", raw sewage.

I'd drop out of I were on any of those swim teams. And I wouldn't be hitting on any of the gals that did participate in those waters!!

You might want to research the HIV rate in Brazil before hitting that zipper. It's one of the worst.

Never been to Brazil but I can tell you this: you are warned if you fall into Hong Kong Harbor you're quarantined in the brig for 10 days,

Did you know US Naval vessels go 10 miles offshore and dump all the garbage from 2500 people into the sea? Benn doing it since forever. Imagine what that ocean floor looks like.
