NJ and NY.

First article I've seen that mentions both, with the NY (Chelsea) being the more recent and harmful:

CNN updated the NJ one about an hour ago, 3 pipe bombs wired together. A few minutes later, could have been a very different outcome. It was lucky it went off early and only one detonated:

DeBlasio, PC, NYPD, and FBI had news conference. No known act of terrorism, though counter-terrorism unit is working it. Reports of 2nd device 4 blocks away, FOX is saying they hear it's a pressure cooker bomb.

29 injured; 1 seriously; none life threatening.

As of now, no known connection with NJ explosion, though both are being investigated by FBI.

Still not much more on NY/NJ explosions-CNN reported a 3rd device might have been found, NY authorities said, 'No.' DeBlasio said the NY/NJ devices not related, at this time.

In MN, seems there's a bit more info:

8 People Taken to a Hospital After MN Mall Stabbings

AP

Eight people were injured during a stabbing attack at a Minnesota (http://abcnews.go.com/topics/news/minnesota.htm) shopping mall that ended with the suspected attacker — who was dressed in a private security uniform and made references to Allah — shot dead by an off-duty police officer, authorities said.

St. Cloud Police Chief Blair Anderson said during a news conference shortly after midnight that eight people were taken to St. Cloud Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries following the attack first reported about 8:15 p.m. Saturday at the Crossroads Center. One person was admitted. No further details were released.

Anderson said an off-duty police officer from another jurisdiction shot and killed the unidentified suspect, who was armed with a knife and wearing a private security firm uniform at the time of the attack. Anderson did not say where the off-duty officer serves.

Something was planned far in advance.

Coincidence? I doubt it. Devices sound different though. I'm mir concerned that 'someone' is telling others to attack at will with what they have.

The NY ones could be same person or group, but throw in the MN stabbings and seems more is und erway.

Better-than-Trump candidate Gary Johnson is glad no one "got hurt" in any of the explosions and stabbings. (29 injured in New York and 9 injured in Minnesota).

He needs to put down the weed.

Attacks will not be just large cities, but will focus on smaller towns.

ELIZABETH (http://nj.com/union) — An improvised explosive device in a backpack detonated near the Elizabeth train station early Monday as authorities were using a bomb robot to examine the item, officials said.

The blast occurred around 12:40 a.m. near Morris Avenue and Julian Place. The explosion was not a controlled blast, but happened unintentionally as the robot was cutting the device, according to Mayor Christian Bollwage. No one was injured in the blast, Bollwage said.

Authorities found five devices inside a single backpack near the train station, including one the that was detonated. After the explosion, press and bystanders were moved back because the four other explosive devices inside of the backpack were still believed to be live, Bollwage said. No other explosions were heard as of 5 a.m.

On Twitter, the FBI's Newark division described the devices as (https://twitter.com/FBINewark/status/777775130709663744) "multiple improvised explosive devices."

The incident unfolded after two men found the backpack in a waste basket on North Broad Street and Julian Place around 8 p.m. Sunday, the mayor said.

The men took the backpack "because they thought it was of some value," walked for a bit, then saw wires and a pipe, dropped the package and notified Elizabeth police, he said.

Bollwage told reporters the explosives were originally found in the trash can about 300 feet from the door of Wally's Pub near the train station.

"If that pub was crowded and there was a lot of people there, it could have severely injured, killed and maimed many, many people," Bollwage told reporters.

Bollwage said the Elizabeth devices did not contain a cell phone or any other electronic detonators.

Device Explodes in New Jersey, 5 People Questioned in New York Bombing Investigation

byMIGUEL ALMAGUER, ALEX JOHNSON, TOM WINTERandJONATHAN DIENST

ELIZABETH, N.J. — A backpack that appeared to contain pipe bombs exploded early Monday as a police robot examined it near a New Jersey train station.

Mayor Chris Bollwage told reporters the bomb squad robot was "cutting into the device when it exploded" in the city of Elizabeth. A spokesman for Bollwage had earlier described the blast as a controlled detonation.

The explosion occurred shortly before 1 a.m. ET Monday. It was the second in New Jersey since Saturday morning and followed a bombing Saturday night in Manhattan that injured 29 people (http://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/29-hurt-manhattan-explosion-called-intentional-act-n650041).

At around 6 a.m. ET, officials familiar with the investigation confirmed to NBC News that heavily armed FBI agents spotted at a fried chicken restaurant in Elizabeth were involved in the tri-state bombs probe.

Several law enforcement officials told NBC News that they are concerned that an active terrorism cell with multiple players could be at work in the New York-New Jersey area.

Manhattan Bombs Provide Trove of Clues; F.B.I. Questions 5 People

</time>A bomb that injured 29 people on Saturday in the Chelsea neighborhood of Manhattan, and another that failed to detonate, were filled with shrapnel and made with pressure cookers, flip phones and Christmas lights to set off a powerful explosive compound, law enforcement officials said on Sunday.

Both bombs appeared designed to create maximum chaos and fatalities. They also provided a trove of clues (http://www.nytimes.com/2016/09/19/nyregion/chelsea-explosion-what-we-know-and-dont-know.html).

Late Sunday night, two law enforcement officials said that investigators stopped a car on the Belt Parkway near the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge and took five people to an F.B.I. office in Manhattan for questioning in the bombing investigation. One of the officials said that all or most of them may have been from the same family and that they may have been on their way to the airport. The F.B.I. confirmed in a statement that agents and police detectives had stopped “a vehicle of interest in the investigation into Saturday’s bombing in Manhattan and that no one has been charged with any crime.”
...

Senior law enforcement officials also said they were increasingly focused on the possibility that the attack was connected to a bombing that took place Saturday morning in New Jersey, but the authorities still needed to compare all the bombs before drawing any conclusions. There, three pipe bombs were tied together, placed in a trash can and also employed a flip phone as a timing mechanism, according to officials.

...

Tests showed that the explosive material in the 23rd Street bomb was similar to a commercially available compound called Tannerite, according to two law enforcement officials. It was unclear why Mr. Cuomo and Mayor Bill de Blasio dismissed (http://www.nytimes.com/2016/09/19/nyregion/bill-de-blasio-new-york-explosion.html) with such certainty a tie to international terror. Experts said the bomb’s construction offered conflicting clues.

Tannerite is made by combining ammonium nitrate and aluminum powder, is frequently used in exploding targets at firearms ranges and has rarely been used in improvised explosive devices in the United States. But the materials are easy to buy in this country because each one on its own is not an explosive.

At the same time, pressure cookers have been a container of choice for many improvised explosive devices over the years. They were used in the deadly Boston Marathon (http://topics.nytimes.com/top/reference/timestopics/subjects/b/boston_marathon/index.html?inline=nyt-classifier) bombings in 2013 based on a model in publications put out by Al Qaeda’s affiliate in Yemen.

An expert on improvised explosive devices used by terrorists around the world said that a device constructed with a cellular phone as a timer and Christmas lights as an initiator would indicate a higher-than-average competence than what is usually found in the United States. “Most of what we see in the United States is a pipe bomb with black powder or smokeless powder or a simple hobby fuse,” said the expert, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because he does sensitive work for government agencies. “This would be the high end of sophistication for I.E.D.s in the United States.”

CBS News correspondent Jeff Pegues reports that investigators believe Rahami may be part of a terror cell and consider him extremely dangerous.</twitterwidget>
Officials say surveillance video (http://www.cbsnews.com/news/new-york-city-explosion-search-for-suspect-motive-five-questioned/) places Rahami at the scene of both the bomb that exploded in Chelsea, as well as the one that failed to explode and was taken away by police.

Sources tell CBS News that Rahami is also sought in connection with the bombing in Seaside Park, New Jersey (http://www.cbsnews.com/news/jersey-shore-beaches-reopen-after-pipe-bomb-blast-at-race/), as well as the five explosive devices found in a backpack near a train station in Elizabeth, New Jersey, (http://www.cbsnews.com/news/suspicious-package-found-on-train-tracks-in-elizabeth-new-jersey/) the suspect’s hometown.

The FBI bulletin (PDF) (https://www.fbi.gov/wanted/seeking-info/ahmad-khan-rahami/@@download.pdf) on Rahami states he “is a 28-year-old United States citizen of Afghan descent born on January 23, 1988, in Afghanistan. His last known address was in Elizabeth, New Jersey. He is about 5’ 6” tall and weighs approximately 200 pounds. Rahami has brown hair, brown eyes, and brown facial hair.”

I sort of thought this would happen. When I got home from work, the bad guy was captured. 12 minutes from Elizabeth, sleeping in the vestibule of a bar. Luckily the police recognized him-he shot one officer, luckily he had on a vest. Grazed another in the hand. Too bad he was shot too, though looks like he'll survive.

Those two guys in NJ were lucky that they are alive after taking the back pack out of the trash and carrying it a ways. Opened it and uh, oh, left it in the middle of the street and called police.

Less than 3 hours from FBI putting out his picture and his being taken into custody.

I had read that the issues were noise complaints and similar over the years. I think I read they first named their place "Khan Chicken" or something like that, and then 4 years later renamed it to American Chicken. LOL

Torture him for a few weeks, maybe waterboard just to piss some off, and THEN shoot him in the face then. :)

When the details were coming out on these bombings, it seemed to me that the attacks were more along the line of al Queda than ISIS. Right now that seems to be more likely the case.

* His visits and background are based in Afghanistan/Pakistan
* The bombings seemed to be set for multiple locations, indeed the secondary device in NY seemed to be placed for creating a bigger and deadlier result than the first, which may have been the purpose to 'herd' folks towards the second.
* Wife left US days before the bombings, mother months before. (There does seem to be a 'radicalized' family component.
*The writings left behind with the 2nd bombing and personal journal mentions of bin Laden and al Queda.

It's been known for awhile that both ISIS and al Queda are in a ideological battle for mind control of the extremists.

The FBI AGAIN had a REAL potential terrorist on the radar but they dropped the ball.

At 1st they lied and said they'd never heard of him but later..

During a press conference yesterday morning, (http://www.motherjones.com/politics/2016/09/fbi-no-indication-terror-cell-new-york-new-jersey-bombings)amid desperate efforts to placate political pressure to maintain the narrative of a lone-wolf bomber - not terrorist - who may have "had a beef" and just happened to be a muslim, William Sweeney, the assistant director in charge of the FBI's New York division, stated unequivocally:...

"There is no indication that the suspect was on the FBI's terror radar" adding that there was "no indication that there's a [terrorist] cell operating" in the New York area and had no information about Ahmad Khan Rahami's "path to radicalization."

Phew - so we can rest assured that all the money spent on systems and surveillance was not wasted and this was perhaps just some mentally unstable man (who just happened to be Muslim and taken a trip or two to Afghanistan).

However,as Bloomberg reports, 24 hours later, The FBI has changed its tune...

Suspected N.Y.-N.J. bomber Ahmad Khan Rahami came across FBI’s radar in response to 2014 domestic incident in which police complaint was made, according to U.S. law enforcement official.

Rahami was flagged in the FBI’s Guardian system, which is a general database of tips and reports of suspicious activity, said the official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because of the continuing investigation into the bombs set off in Manhattan and in New Jersey.
It wasn’t immediately clear if Rahami was ever interviewed by the FBI.

Rahami was arrested in 2014 on weapons and aggravated assault charges for allegedly stabbing a relative in the leg in a domestic incident, according to court documents cited by the New York Times.

http://www.zerohedge.com/sites/default/files/images/user3303/imageroot/2016/09/15/20160920_bomber1.jpg (http://www.zerohedge.com/sites/default/files/images/user3303/imageroot/2016/09/15/20160920_bomber1.jpg)

He spent more than three months in jail on the charges, according to a law enforcement official cited by the Times. A grand jury, however, declined to indict Rahami.

So once again, the FBI lied. We do not know why. Or was the FBI Director just clueless and speaking off the cuff? Who knows?
But worse still, as The NYPost reports, (http://nypost.com/2016/09/20/i-called-the-fbi-2-years-ago-chelsea-bombing-suspects-dad/)the Chelsea bombing suspect's dad "called the FBI 2 years ago!"

The father of bombing suspect Ahmad Khan Rahami said Tuesday morning that he had called the FBI on his son.

http://www.zerohedge.com/sites/default/files/images/user3303/imageroot/2016/09/15/20160920_bomber.jpg (http://www.zerohedge.com/sites/default/files/images/user3303/imageroot/2016/09/15/20160920_bomber.jpg)

After closing his New Jersey fried chicken restaurant, Mohammad Rahami was asked by reporters whether he had called the feds on his son.

“Yes, I called the FBI,” he said as he drove off in his Chevy Suburban after speaking with FBI agents in Elizabeth, where he lives above his First American Fried Chicken joint.

He also said he didn’t think his son is a terrorist. Asked why, he said: “Because the FBI — they know that.”

The cryptic response followed one he made earlier, when he yelled, “I called the FBI two years ago!”

Finally, it is worth remembering that Omar Mateen, who carried out a shooting rampage at a Florida nightclub, also had been flagged in the Guardian system. While the FBI opened a preliminary investigation into Mateen, it didn’t do that for Rahami because there wasn’t enough information to warrant pursuing the matter further and the complaint against Rahami was withdrawn, the official said.

Makes you wonder about the claim that ALL muslims sympathize with Jihad when the Parents are consistently calling the FBI on their 'faithful muslim' children.
At least IT SHOULD make you wonder and realize that not all muslims are looking to spill the blood of America 'the great satan' .

Also again we see that ALL this TSA, Homeland security, taping EVERYONE's phones for our safety is BS.
It's been people CALLING the FBI with tips that have ALWAYS been the way these guys are made known to the FBI.
Unless of course they go out and cultivate them themselves.

FBI just held a press briefing on the investigation so far. 24 fingerprints found on unexploded bombs.
There was a video found on cell phone of a family member that showed him creating a small explosion two days before the bombings.
They are looking for the 2 guys that took the bag the unexploded NY pressure cooker bomb originally in.
He was 'at least' al Queda inspired.

Makes you wonder about the claim that ALL muslims sympathize with Jihad when the Parents are consistently calling the FBI on their 'faithful muslim' children.
At least IT SHOULD make you wonder and realize that not all muslims are looking to spill the blood of America 'the great satan' .

I don't remember ever hearing that all Muslims sympathize with jihad. I don't remember ever hearing that all Muslims want to spill American blood.

I DO remember hearing that all Muslims need to go.

Above mentioned is true. Not all Muslims embrace the jihad mentality.
Compare that with the BLM violence. Not all blacks embrace that, either; in
fact, many abhore that behavior.

It is the bad apples in the bushels that give both groups a bad name.

My neighbors are a black couple. No way would they riot and burn things. I like them and hope they remain as my neighbors.

Also, I have a Jordanian family a couple of houses down. They are nice, too.

FBI Omits Mention Of ISIS Connections In Criminal Complaint Of NYC Bomber

The FBI omitted a clear ISIS link in the criminal complaint against suspected NYC bomber Ahmad Rahami.

The criminal complaint only (https://www.justice.gov/usao-sdny/file/894396/download) notes that Rahami makes references to terrorists Usama Bin-Laden, Fort Hood shooter Nidal Hasan, and al-Qaida in the Arabian peninsula leader Anwar Al Alwaki. All three terrorists are affiliated with al-Qaida. A released photo (https://twitter.com/MLevineReports/status/778616360733736960?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw) of the journal to ABCNews, however, shows a clear reference to “Brother Adnani.”

A law enforcement official confirmed (https://twitter.com/rcallimachi/status/778638609993854980) the picture of the journal was authentic to The New York Times.

Adnani rose to chief spokesman of ISIS (http://dailycaller.com/2016/08/03/elite-isis-branch-planning-multiple-attacks-across-europe/), frequently encouraging lone wolf attacks in the West, particularly on non-believers. In his last public speech, Adnani advised (https://twitter.com/Rita_Katz) would-be terrorists in the West that attacks on civilians were “dearer and better for us” than battlefield victories for ISIS.

Rahami’s suspected domestic attack almost exactly mimics Adnani’s statement. The FBI criminal complaint against (https://www.justice.gov/usao-sdny/file/894396/download) Rahami notes he wrote about “attacking [non-believers] in their backyard.”

The FBI has a history (http://www.longwarjournal.org/archives/2016/06/orlando-terrorist-swore-allegiance-to-islamic-states-abu-bakr-al-baghdadi.php) of omitting ISIS references in publicly released information on terrorist attacks. In the aftermath of the Orlando shooting by ISIS-inspired shooter Omar Mateen, the FBI omitted Mateen’s declaration of allegiance to ISIS leader Abu Bakr Al-Bagdadi.

After the omission became public the FBI released (http://www.longwarjournal.org/archives/2016/06/orlando-terrorist-swore-allegiance-to-islamic-states-abu-bakr-al-baghdadi.php) an unredacted transcript, revealing Mateen’s clear inspiration by ISIS. Rahami’s reference to Adnani does not necessarily mean the attack was ISIS-inspired or directed, but it is an important detail for analysts.

Adnani’s mention may give insight into how Rahami became radicalized.

Representatives of both the FBI Field Office in New York and the U.S. Southern District of New York Court declined comment on the omission.

NY MUSLIM BOMBER'S NOTEBOOK URGEDKILLING NON-MUSLIMS

September 20, 2016
Daniel Greenfield (http://www.frontpagemag.com/author/daniel-greenfield)

This latest act of Muslim religious violence has nothing to do with the religion of Islam. Not a thing.

When Mr. Rahami was captured during a shootout with the police on Monday, the authorities found a notebook, pierced with a bullet hole and covered in blood, expressing opinions sympathetic to jihadist causes, according to a law enforcement official who agreed to speak about the investigation only on the condition of anonymity.

In one section of the book, Mr. Rahami wrote of “killing the kuffar,” or unbelievers, the official said. Mr. Rahami also praised Anwar al-Awlaki, Al Qaeda’s leading propagandist, who died in a drone strike in Yemen, as well as the soldier in the Fort Hood shooting, one of the deadliest “lone wolf” attacks inspired by Al Qaeda.

Killing the kuffar isn't a "perversion of Islam". It is Islam.

Islam settles religious disputes, internally or externally, with murderous violence.

This administration is fully pushing this refusal to make mention of the factions
and motivations behind this kind of thing. DOJ and FBI are just following the leader, Obama.

That is FACT, not opinion, and has been going on for close to 8 years now.

DEADLIEST LIE: Without 'Lone Wolf' Lie, U.S. Could Have Stopped Nearly EVERY ATTACK BY ANDREW C. MCCARTHY (https://pjmedia.com/columnist/andrew-c-mccarthy)SEPTEMBER 21, 2016

...

The U.S. government consciously avoids the ideology because it is rooted in a fundamentalist, literalist interpretation of Islam. Though it is but one of many ways to construe that religion, the remorseless fact is that it is a mainstream construction, adhered to by tens of millions of Muslims and supported bycenturies of scholarship.

I say “the U.S. government” is at fault here because, contrary to Republican campaign rhetoric that is apparently seized by amnesia, this is not merely an Obama administration dereliction -- however much the president and his former secretary of State (and would-be successor) Hillary Clinton have exacerbated the problem.

Since the World Trade Center was bombed in 1993, the bipartisan Beltway cognoscenti have “reasoned” (a euphemism for “reckless self-delusion”) that conceding the Islamic doctrinal roots of jihadist terror -- which would implicitly concede the vast Islamist (sharia-supremacist) support system without which the global jihadist onslaught would be impossible -- is impractical.

I love both of them. They would never say falsehoods. Perhaps you remember it wrong or dreamed that they said it? That has happened to me at times.
