Kathianne. As, I'm almost sure. Most baseball fans who know anything about the History of the game; probably also know about the CUBS, and their many years of bad luck.

Here's hoping they finally get what that team needs. Not so much for Chicago, but a chance to get even with all those California teams for once, and for all. :clap:

For now...

My Dad and I will be at Dodger Stadium on Tuesday and Wednesday. Top level, between the plate and first base.
When I was growing up, my dad would take me to game. Now, I take him to games. Costs a lot more now, but whatever. :cool:

Dodgers haven't made the World Series in my time. I hope this is the year.

No one in the family has ever lived on the South Side. It's either because of the 'Irish thing' or they are just contrarians.

Lots of Cubs fans at Dodger Stadium. Including a very depressed woman in back of us. Moved to LA more than a decade ago and still holds on to her love of the Cubbies. My dad bought her a beer and a Dodger Dog.

Time to duck out of work early (again) and pick up my dad. GAME ON!!

Indeed.

One of the benefits of rooting for a team that hasn't been in a series for over 100 years, legions all over the country are for them. I kid you not! Today 3 different cars in Sedona flying the W flag, folks dressed in Cubs swag.

HUGE game 5 tonight. End of the 3rd inning and the Cubbies are up 1-0, with their Ace John Lester pitching. :( I love the Cubs, just not against my Dodgers. But whoever wins tonight - the other team would need to win 2 straight to beat them.

I feel cheated. My favorite team for a little over 40 years now. I don't want to share my team with a liberal. Having something in common makes me feel 'dirty'. :laugh:

I'll say it now, no sour grapes in baseball for me. Man, if the Cubs beat my team, I'll surely be rooting for them to win the series!!! 108 years of futility down the drain. Who couldn't like to see that happen?

Bill Murray addressed the Kershaw factor today, from the WH briefing room, :laugh2::

http://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/bill-murray-makes-surprise-appearance-white-house-briefing-room-n670811

...

Murray came to Washington to receive the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor on Sunday, but arrived early to discuss the award — and likely Chicago sports as well — with the president.

Murray's beloved Cubs are one win away from their first World Series appearance since 1945, leading the Los Angeles Dodgers 3-2 in a seven-game series. Though Obama is a noted fan of the Chicago White Sox, he has stated he will support his team's crosstown rival.

Murray told the press that while Los Angeles Dodgers pitching ace Clayton Kershaw was undoubtedly excellent, the Chicago Cubs had "too many sticks," pointing to his team's powerful offense.

Why all kids should see Anthony Rizzo apologize to MLB umpire
Even if you aren't a baseball fan, Chicago Cubs' first baseman Anthony Rizzo's apology to an umpire last night is worth paying attention to and sharing with your tweens and teens.

The Cubs are battling the Los Angeles Dodgers in the National League Championship Series, and the winner heads to the World Series. In last night's game, Rizzo apologized to home plate umpire Angel Hernandez when he came up to bat in the seventh inning. Rizzo had disagreed with him on a prior call.

Congrats to the Cubbies and the Cubs fans!! LA had Kershaw this year, but the Cubs had an all around better team throughout, hence their awesome record this year. So now I go forward and root for them.

This will be a crazy WS however you look at it. The Cubs haven't won a WS since 1908. The Indians haven't won one since 1948. 176 years of futility will end for one of them this year. I'm really going to be pulling for the Cubs. It's even been 71 years since they won the NL pennant. The Indians won the pennant and went to the WS in 1995 and 1997, not my fault they lost. :)

Shame that one of them has to continue the futility after this year. That's going to hurt. I hope the Cubs fans finally get a chance to celebrate the big one!

*This is the one and only time I forgive the team who knocked us out, never once did that before, I think, in any sport! But this feels different.

I love Dodgers baseball with a passion. But losses don't rip my heart out. Sorry.
My dad and I went to the third game (win) and the fourth game (loss).
The tickets did cost a fortune. Not as much as Taylor Swift, but still a large chunk. Always worth it, though. :cool:

I knew the series would end on Saturday. The Cubs came in locked in at the plate. Kershaw was due for a fall.
I was so confident about the outcome that I didn't even watch. Went to dinner with my husband at the home of a new client. Looked more like a huge company headquarters than a home. Some people have WAY too much money.

Dodgers Show Respect to Cubs in Touching Congratulations Message

The Cubs responded with something equally honorable

The Los Angeles Dodgers took to Twitter following their loss to the Chicago Cubs Saturday night in Game 6 of the NLCS with a touching show of regard and congratulations.

"Until the next time, @Cubs. #Respect," the team wrote along with a photo of Cubs manager Joe Maddon and Dodgers manager Dave Roberts embracing after the game.

The Chicago Cubs responded with something equally honorable.

"@Dodgers Thank you! Hats off to you for an amazing series!" the team said with a gif of Maddon tipping his hat.

They all learned it from me I believe!! I have a lot of respect for the Cubs and all of their fans, they TRULY deserve it. They won 12 more games total than the Dodgers in the regular season. They didn't have any players that are crazy all stars that every house in America knows, they are just a bunch of awesome ball players. And the story. 108 years. How in the world can anyone NOT want to see that happen.

But I've also never heard of any crazy stories coming out of Chicago. They know futility, but I've never seen them go nutso on teams that knock them out. Always graceful. So they knocked out the Dodgers, and it's time for everyone to rally around them and lets see them get that world series title!!

Interestingly enough, the 2016 World Series matches the two teams with the longest spans of championship futility.
The Indians haven't won since 1948. The Cubs haven't won since 1908.
Aside from the six teams post-60's expansion teams that have never won a title, the next longest skid is the Pirates, who last won in 1979.

Wish I was 'home' for this!

‘Twas the night before Game One, and all through Chicago,

Every Cub fan was stirring, like they’d just won the lotto;

Was it fate? Was it God? There were plenty of theories,

Seven decades of wait; the Cubs made the World Series!

Despite all the doubts, talk of “curses,” and worry,

Cub Fans’ eyes shed a tear, from Belushi to Murray;

The city was chaos, this wasn’t a dream,

For our boys in the pinstripes, had beat LA’s team;

In Game One there was Lester, he pitched quite the gem,

But it wasn’t his effort that caused the mayhem,

With the lead down to zero, and our chance to win, narrow,

Lo! Behold! A grand slam! And the hero: Montero!

It was on to Game Two and the bats, they went cold,

Give all credit to Kershaw – he’s a beast, truth be told;

Game Three was the same, as the Cubs failed to score,

And some fans, they worried, they had seen this before;

At the start of Game Four, Cubs looked flat, to be blunt,

But that all turned around, with a Fourth Inning bunt;

When what to our wondering eyes did occur,

But a ten run barrage, it all seemed like a blur;

And the runs kept on coming, in Game Five, that is,

With an offense that proved they’re the best in the biz;

Jon Lester, again, used his whole bag of tricks,

Sending all to Chicago, for a decisive Game Six.

The feeling, electric, the atmosphere, great,

As Kyle took the mound, and Contreras, the plate;

A hit in the first, and one more in the eighth,

That was all he gave up; as we all kept the faith;

The Cubs, they were fearless, despite their opponent,

They hit hard and ran fast, and seized every moment;

They knocked Kershaw around, and showed no fatigue,

And they proved they were tops, in the National League;

Now it’s on to Ohio, to face Cleveland’s tribe,

And we all have that feeling that’s hard to describe;

No more home-field advantage, as this series begins,

It’ll take our best efforts to get four more wins;

Of course, Cleveland’s got pitching, a bullpen that’s stacked,

You can bet that their ballpark and streets will be packed;

While they’ve got some guys hurt, and don’t have a big name,

They beat Boston, the Blue Jays – they play a good game;

Perez is their catcher, with an arm like a gun,

So the Cubs might think twice when deciding to run;

And their DH Santana, hits with power and might,

Napoli is a threat, if his timing is right;

Francisco Lindor is a great, young shortstop,

And Kipnis at second base, sure has some pop;

Should any one game be a 9th inning thriller,

Their bullpen is tough, with Allen and Miller;

Despite this, I feel that this Cubs team can do it,

They’ve had ups, they’ve had downs, but they’ve always blown through it;

Different guys have stepped up, at the drop of a hat,

And they’ve done it with defense, and Matt Sczcur’s bat;

Regardless the pitchers, regardless the order,

Regardless if our DH is Soler or Schwarber;

With our grandparents, parents, friends and siblings we’ll cheer,

Every Cub fan BELIEVES that: “next year” is here;

For Harry! For Ernie! For Billy! For Ryno!

For Maddux! For Jenkins! For Pat Hughes and Ron Santo!

The Cubs won a lot, they’ve been put to the test,

But it’s time to beat Cleveland and give them our best;

“Sure as God made green apples,” as Harry did say,

The Cubs would be in the World Series someday,

Well that day is tomorrow, the Fall Classic is now,

And the Cubs have a chance, they can win: HOLY COW.

So root for the Cubbies, and keep Wrigleyville rocking,

On the doorstep of history, this team is now knocking;

If you cheer for the “tribe” – well, our line up should trouble you,

A century’s enough, now let’s go fly the W.

Indians scored runs with the bases loaded. Cubs did not. Indians starter was masterful. Cubs starter was not. End of story.
