All the overcrowded cities filled with sewer rats looking for something free or to steal. The Founding Fathers felt it was important to set up electors this way to prevent mob rule from high density population centers and corrupt States running roughshod over the rest of the country.

There's a thread for that. A map that shows red counties with a low population density isn't proof of a mandate over highly populated city centers.

Beside, IIRC the EC was more of a large state vs. small state thing. Hamilton mentioned those who "possess information and discernment," which doesn't seem to carry the same weight as 200+ years ago.

I would find it difficult to proclaim Trump's win as a "mandate" especially given the political climate of this country where many perceive their vote as AGAINST the opposition candidate rather than a vote FOR a particular candidate.

I'm sorry that you're reading more into my posts that is there but no, the mandate is muddled at best. A SCOTUS justice is not evidence of a mandate it's an effect that trump will get to nominate the next justice but I agree it was a huge concern for many who voted. Most of the mandate here is that he was the least, most-disliked of the two options given his lack of a majority and his lack of even the popular vote. The Republicans picking up three governorships is more impressive to me.

Beside, you don't have to feel sorry for me, I'm having a good ol' time. :) FWIW I hope I'm wrong that all the reasons I wouldn't vote for him turn out not to be a concern.

USSC nomination power is evidence of the mandate Trump achieved yesterday. Icing on the mandate cake, as it were.

And the fact that a group of people are unhappy with the result does nothing to make the mandate untrue. In every election since they tallied the results in cave wall scratches, the losing group is unhappy.

It's not really evidence of the mandate, it will be the result of occupying the White House and Senate. But icing, yes.

The vote was a mandate against obama and his socialist policies as much as it was about hillary , her corruption and her carrying on those policies.
So yes the people saw the very hard left turn the obama ran with and basically said-- now make a very hard turn back right!
Figures -- THAT CERTAIN PEOPLE WOULD HAVE NO CLUE ABOUT THAT OR ELSE REJECT IT OUT OF PURE PRINCIPLE BECAUSE IT SO RIGHTLY CONDEMNED THE DAMN SOCIALISM OF THE WORTHLESS DEM PARTY.-TYR
