How great would it be to put a "Mad Dog" in there? And how great would it be to watch the liberals go into anger stratosphere already, before January even!! Those dolts are still thinking Hillary has a chance, and Mad Dog will have them crying!!

Trump touts retired general as potential defense secretary

Bedminster (United States) (AFP) - US President-elect Donald Trump praised James Mattis as a potential defense secretary Sunday, calling the retired military commander a "true general's general" as he prepared to meet another batch of possible cabinet members at his New Jersey golf club.

Trump's recent choices for other key posts -- attorney general, national security adviser and chief White House strategist -- have come under fire on civil rights grounds from Democrats and other critics.

But Trump has also moved to mend fences with moderate Republicans as he goes about building a new administration, interviewing one-time foe Mitt Romney for secretary of state, and inviting his ousted transition chief Chris Christie for a sit-down Sunday at his Trump National Golf Club.

He and Vice President-elect Mike Pence began their day attending a Sunday service at a Presbyterian church in the New Jersey countryside.

But the early-rising Trump was on Twitter before that, attacking the cast of hit Broadway musical "Hamilton" as rude, and "Saturday Night Live," the late-night satirical show that mercilessly lampoons him, as "not funny at all."

Meanwhile, the New York Post reported that Melania Trump and son Barron will remain in New York, rather than live in the White House.

Jason Miller, a Trump spokesman, would not confirm the report, but told reporters that "there's obviously sensitivity to pulling their 10-year-old out of school in the middle of the school year. A more formal statement will be coming."

- Cabinet auditions -

The 70-year-old Republican billionaire promised reporters they would "hear some things" after a second marathon day of meetings at his New Jersey golf retreat, a 90-minute drive from Manhattan.

"General James 'Mad Dog' Mattis, who is being considered for Secretary of Defense, was very impressive yesterday. A true General's General!" Trump said on Twitter.

He's exactly what our ENTIRE Military needs now. Happy to see it. Naturally, the left will call him names, and disprove of anyone who didn't walk the OBAMA apology lines of Wussy Walk.

I don't think he's reacting too awfully badly to folks - or we wouldn't be seeing Bannon and perhaps Mattis, and a few others that many don't care for. If his first few weeks of his transition is concerned, I'm going to be pleased. But he's won now, and I agree to that extent that he should start ignoring a lot of folks.

It's the fact he mentioned it at all. He's got thin skin and everyone knows it.

I wonder if he laughed at the skit where SNL totally made fun of cluess leftwing voters "during the election"? It was funny as Hell to me.

Yeah, he definitely needs to ignore the idiots. Addressing them gives them the attention they desperately crave.

Just ignore, stack the SCOTUS, deport the illegals, build the wall, nuke NAFTA and gut the EPA in an efficient manner.

The howls of outrage from the Democrats is just icing on the cake.

Very tasty, delicious, satisfying icing.

Seems to me. Trump, despite how wealthy he is, and that he was elected to be our next president; forgets he's just like the rest of us...deep down when it comes to anyone cutting him down..as in SNL.
Like the rest of us...being pragmatic here....he's still a human being, with human feelings...even if he is about to become the most powerful person we know.

Look at this FORUM as an example. If any of us are insulted in any way by another member...HOW DO WE REACT? Even if we don't let on it bothers us???

It pinpoints a weakness to be exploited. Why give anything away (besides his iPhone) ?

I hope it is butter frosting (icing)!

You are right. But it is gonna take some firm hands to shove him away from his urge to react immediately. It appears
he is doing that by choosing his advisers well. Good to see a USMC General who knows the ropes to be considered for SOD.

He needs to stay off Twitter. Re SNL, he should just say he has the last laugh.

Why should Trump hire a military person when Trump knows more about the military than any general?

You fail again gabby. Thinking, logical, common sense people knew, when Trump said that, he was being honest because he knew the General's who were kissing Obama's butt to stay in power...weren't part of the REAL MILITARY that Obama and Carter Fired because they wouldn't bow down to the stupidity of telling our enemies OUR PLANS.

Make Gen. Mattis SecDef and turn him loose. Tell him to make America safe and let him go.
