So who else is getting the snowstorms today? It started pretty good here about 6 hours ago and still coming down pretty well. I'm glad I got a few things yesterday, and I didn't even know it was supposed to snow when I did! But my ass retired from shoveling snow - until I get that infamous snowblower. :)

Snow down along the shore here is very rare, but the Cascades are getting blanketed in it.

Last I saw they got like 8 inches in Virginia.

Funny, where my bro Jeff lives - if they forecast ANY snow, the shelves will be empty in every store - water, bread, cigarettes... And if there is 1/4 of an inch of snow on the roads, they come to a stand still. You would think these people have never seen snow before.

And meanwhile, the deeper the snow gets outside for me, the bigger the challenge to go drive the streets in my truck and slide around. Wen't out during a massive blizzard one time in NJ. Was hilarious, got stuck at one of the "jughandle" off ramps. The streets were plowed but not the ramps off the highway. A tow truck just happened to pass by and the guy yanked me out in a few seconds for $20. And then the fun continued!!

I hate rain, makes me depressed. But snow makes me feel like a kid again, at least when not shoveling. In fact, I still hit the woman with snowballs, and even bomb a car if I can. :)

Just came in from running errands, shivering at 50. Only going to 55 today. :(

Now, for our Southern friends, (I got years of snow dealing to make up for):

Ohh...I saw as much as 3 feet of it in WVA and Klamath Falls Oregon. I would much rather drive in that than in the
ice I saw in tidewater VA or NJ. NYC one year had 18 inches in one storm and had no place to shove it aside. They
used endloaders and dump trucks to dump in the East River and Long Island Sound. And the cobblestone streets in
Bayside were very hard to clear. My old jeep did well, but many others could not cope with it.

Much easier shoveling snow, than mud slides, earthquakes, and Liberal B.S.

Had a little bit of snow on mountains around here ... didn't last 24 hours .... in 80s today. Laid out by pool to get some tanning in.

Yes, Americans. This weather is not typical for you.
January 7th, I kiss good-bye to my friends from Nizhny Novgorod Region, returning home with their three children at their mini-bus (400 miles). The air temperature on the route was -37C (-35F)
It was an adventure. Because of frost there was 2 times lost of contact on the electronic gas pedal. They had to stop and warm up the unit. But they returned back-home fine.

You ever going to get off that pedestal and stop talking down to people? We are quite well aware of what cold weather is. But DO explain your theory to anyone from the upper Midwest, then you can explain it to Nighttrain.

THEN you can probably try giving me a class on heat survival. What a dick.

I'm so glad that I don't live in Northern California anymore. The drought is over but pineapple express is deadly for flooding. All the roads to and from my last house are flooded and power is out. Not missing it right now.

Agreed. Balu will probably never lose that attitude. Still - I can hope to be wrong ...

In case Balu feels like making the same argument against the British (unless we're too inconsequential for him to think of it ?), he can try looking up, for the UK 'The Great Freeze of 1963'. Or the comparable spell of freezing weather we had in 1947. Or the one we had just a few years ago, come to that ...

From 1947 ..

I was thinking that much of CA must be out of the drought with this winter, glad to see you confirm. This year has been anything but 'dry' in Northern AZ. We've had plenty of rain-threat of snow quite often too-but it's been rain so far! ;)

I've invited you to join my company more than once. You're a Russian political officer. You think I can't identify you? And I NEVER have known a Russian officer that would run like a rat like you do. They would stand and fight.

You talk all this shit and try to bully yourself around then you run like a little bitch. Engage or shut your damned mouth. I know exactly who and what you are.

I've fallen through the ice in Rivers and Lakes in the middle of winter, and it's not something I'll voluntarily do. The last time it happened, I had an internal temp of 91 by the time I got into shelter - and that kind of hypothermia is a very terrible experience.

I know the northern part is in good shape. I am not too sure of the southern part. Funny thing is, the southern counties depend on the
water from the north and are greedy for more. They need to build desalination plants down there
