View Full Version : Out of all the hundreds and thousands of women marching and protesting the election..

.... how many of them voted?
How many worked to get their candidate elected?
And how many sat around doing nothing as the election was held, the decision taken, and they finally found out they didn't get what they wanted? Only to start marching long after the fact, proclaiming "I'm unhappy! Someone has to do something about it!" ?

I think it is ironic and kind of pathetic that the Women's March welcomed Madonna as a speaker during their event. Few people in the last 30 years have done more to objectify women than Bill Clinton has, but Madonna is one of those few.

I didn't see it as an "anti-Trump" march. I saw as a chance for women to express their solidarity and state that they will not be demeaned or degraded. And as a statement that men should not be passing laws telling women what to do with their bodies.
I went to the Los Angeles march with my mom and my daughter. It was actually my daughter's idea. It was an inspiring experience. Except when my 70's protest marching mom rattled on about how radical I used to be.
Most of us are not protesting Trump's election. We just want to remind him that we're watching. Continuously.

By "sex predator" I assume you're referring to Bill Clinton, because of the four women who are on record stating that he raped them. Maybe you have a point there - I will restate my post to say that Bill Clinton is actually worse than Madonna, but I still say they both objectify women. I will also say that any Women's March that raises up either of them is completely hypocritical.

Even accepting this as true ... you miss the point. The AMERICAN ELECTORAL COLLEGE SYSTEM determined the outcome. Now .. since this is the form of electoral process the US has accepted to be legitimate to use, who are you to 'suddenly' find any fault with it ?
Who, here, believes that if that system had resulted in a Clinton win, you'd have the smallest objection to how she won ?? I don't think you would have had one.
Which means but one thing: you're using that system as a mere excuse to object to a victory you happen not to like.
By the way ... if the Left truly respect democracy, how come they've been unashamed in their public protesting against Trump being President ? Trump was DEMOCRATICALLY ELECTED TO POWER.

There are some very central issues to the marches that many overlook. That is the issue of unequal taxation. Rogaine, which men use for hair regrowth, is classified as a "medical supply" and thus not taxed. Same for dandruff shampoo and adult diapers. Yet tampons, which are used by every adult women, are classified as "general merchandise" and are taxable. Because such decisions are made by men who could care less.

I have to agree they were protesting Trump. Sure it was for things he's said and been accused of. To me, it's a pretty fitting time to say, 'Oh well, he won, sit down.'
I don't mind protests though, it's good for exercise and if it makes folks feel good, so be it. It seemed the Women's March in US cities at least, went pretty good. They applied for and got permits. They were loud, but stayed where they were supposed to. They didn't shut down cities for the heck of it. They didn't keep people from getting into stores or other businesses.
In Chicago, so many turned out they didn't march, it would have closed more streets than they planned on. The organizers agreed readily to leave it at speakers, no marching.
I do have a problem with anarchy, which is what happened on Friday in parts of DC.

There were some who protested the election results. There were also a great many who just wanted more respect for women. Notice that there was no violence associated with any of the rallies. Outside of a few idiots like Madonna, there were no threats of any kind.

Why has this thread become an exchange of degrading insults? This is one of the many things the march was about. Women want an end of bullying and body shaming. We want an end to male rape culture and court cases that put the victim on trial instead of the accuser.
There were some who protested the election results. There were also a great many who just wanted more respect for women. Notice that there was no violence associated with any of the rallies. Outside of a few idiots like Madonna, there were no threats of any kind.
Agreed that we want respect. Exactly how do women get respect while wearing genitals on their head? Are they really that clueless?
i think people get respect by acting in respectful ways.

Genitals? It was a hat. Most of the hats were hand crafted. How it got its name I have no idea. Does it look like genitalia to anyone?

Gabs, you know they were all over the parade. There are pics elsewhere on this site.

It would be a whole lot easier to understand the 'women's concerns' if there weren't so very many current problems with 'rape culture' when so many college males, a minority now in universities are being accused of 'rape' and then subjected to kangaroo hearings without due process or legal representation. If this weren't enough, many of their 'accusers' often recant nearly immediately, but to no avail, with expulsion for the male the result.
Now many are starting to sue the universities and getting substantial judgements, so perhaps this will end?
Then there is the problems found in mostly high schools, but also some middle schools where female instructors rape young men, often saying they are 'in love' with them. Often they get probation, sometimes not even having to be listed as a sex offender. Male teachers? Often face very long jail terms, even when there is the same age difference as the female/male differences. Probation? Never heard of it for a male. Not registering? Never.
There are many issues that women should have addressed, but then they need to act like adults and not just mimic the lines of a Judd or Madonna, or even Hillary-who changed her webpage about 'supporting female accusers,' when the hypocrisy of how she trashed those of her husband's including Juanita Broaderick who actually collected in order to clear her name.

I have to disagree. To many college campuses want to look the other way or sweep accusations under the rug. You only have to look at recent situations at Baylor and Brigham Young.
Read the book "Missoula" by Jon Krakauer and you will recognize what women are up against.

Do you really think that only females are recipients of abuse?
All of the times I was life guarding a pool or beach and some strange chick comes up and grabs my
personals?
All of the times I bounced bars to have some drunk woman massage my crotch?
You need to wake up. It is not all males.

I certainly am not minimizing rape, not as a crime and not for the aftermath of victims.
What I do have problems with are women who cry 'rape' whenever it isn't. What is going on now on too many campuses is creating male victims which have just as much aftermath as true rape victims. I would not minimize that either.
I certainly agree there are rapes that go unreported and that too often those that do report are still subjected to a secondary trauma with the judicial process.
There are steps women can take to keep their risks to a minimum, especially in college/social settings. Any freshmen orientation would suggest those steps. Often women don't think it will happen to them.
As Elessar said, it's not only women that are victimized, as he described and I did earlier regarding 'women that rape and are pretty much left off the hook that would send a man to prison for many years.
Same with domestic violence, it's not just women that are victimized and the problems men face in reporting is often just as traumatizing as women face with the judicial system.
I'm sick of the grouping of victims-all victims deserve help, not just the 'flavor of the left this month.' One is serious about justice or not.
Much of this is just a natural alignment with why I am philosophically opposed to 'hate crimes charges.'
...What I do have problems with are women who cry 'rape' whenever it isn't. ...
The real problem is with those who start crying in public that they were raped dozens years after the 'incident'. Don't believe? - Ask President Trump.
