I've no idea and suspicions. I think it's ungrateful deed to make assumptions. Now the professionals are investigating this case. The are records from the cameras from inside the train car and on another metro station there was another explosive device was disarmed and this surely will simplify the work of investigators. (*)
Till tomorrow the underground will be closed. The authorities put additional buses on the routes and the surface transport in St. Petersburg is free of charge till the metro is open.

(*)

Hand made disarmed explosive device of 1 kg. TNT equivalent placed into fire extinguisher.

"I've no idea and suspicions. I think it's ungrateful deed to make assumptions." B #6

Understood.
But a suspicion is not necessarily an assumption.

When investigating a crime, the elements of crime are considered.
Among them is "motive".

Putin has been backing Assad in Syria.
So the rebels in Syria have motive that could be suspect; worth looking into.

I'm skeptical about the Ukraine angle, but wouldn't rule it out in a thorough investigation.

But something tells me the Chechens may also be worth a look. It's not an accusation. It's just the methodology of doing a thorough investigation, let the chips fall where they may.

You appear to be making the standard mistake (yes, a typically Left wing one) of relegating this terrorist atrocity to 'crime'. Labelling it as merely that. But it's more. Terrorist acts such as this are the actions of a 'person' lacking all humanity. Human beings commit crimes. Subhumans commit atrocities every bit as barbarous as the seventh century, non-evolved creed, which spawns them.

Yes, investigations must be conducted. But don't be surprised if, as a product of them, a 'reasoning' comes to light which is wholly alien to civilised, human thought. Investigators need to take that on board when working on this, to fully grasp what it is they're dealing with.

MOSCOW, March 4. /TASS/. President of the United States Donald Trump has called Russian President Vladimir Putin to extend condolences after a subway blast in St. Petersburg, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Tuesday.
"In a telephone conversation with Vladimir Putin Donald Trump extended deep condolences to the families of those who were killed in a barbaric terror attack in St. Petersburg subway, and asked to pass on words of encouragement to the Russian people," Peskov said.
"Presidents consider terrorism to be an evil that should be tackled in a concerted effort," he said, adding that Putin and Trump have "agreed to keep in touch."
An unidentified device went off at about 14:40 Moscow time on Monday in a subway train car when the train was moving from Tekhnologichesky Institut Station to Sennaya Ploshchad Station. The Russian Investigative Committee has qualified the blast as a terrorist attack, but other versions are looked into.

For years Donald Trump championed the birther movement, which would seem to be more a cause of the negative: where Barack Obama was NOT born.
Some said Kenya.
But why not Ukraine?

Early reports this AM indicate the death-toll has reached 14, with dozens injured, and the current prime suspect (still at large) is Kyrgyzstani.

Unity and cohesion - so it can be described what was and is happening in St. Petersburg after the terrorist attack in the subway. The most remarkable thing - there was no panic.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PiAABu_zNTA

The explosion occurred in the tunnel. The driver brought the train to the station, so people avoided poisoning and were quickly provided with medical assistance.
The machinist will be presented to the state award.
Relatives of those who were killed during the explosion will receive from the budget of the city at a time 1 million rubles each, seriously injured citizens will be paid 500 thousand rubles each, and those who received minor injuries - 250 thousand each. The funeral of the victims will be held at the expense of the city budget. As the vice-governor of the city Anna Mityanina reported, 23 million rubles will be allocated from the budget.

It's really a shame people have to behave this way. And it's lose-lose deal. If you react to them, they get what they want. If you don't react to them, they get away with it. Might as well add the media in on the list. If they didn't get attention from the media they'd have to get a new plan.

"I'm amazed that there's such misunderstanding of what our country is about that people would hate us. I am like most Americans, uh, I just can't believe it, because I know how good we are, and we've got to do a better job of making our case." U.S. President George Bush (the younger)

Bush has made a foolish statement here.

It's not that the jihadis have an inadequate understanding of the U.S.

It's that Bush lacked an adequate understanding of how much U.S. government / military / cultural hegemony is resented in Islam, and perhaps elsewhere.

Terrorism may not make sense to you.

BUT !!

If you perceived the world as they do, you would then understand that terrorism makes sense to them, and shows signs of working.

For example:
candidate trump proposed blocking the immigration of all Muslims to the U.S.
The courts have blocked him twice on his half-stepping attempt at fig-leaf promise-keeping.

"Certainly he's bleeding us to death in terms of uh money. Look at the budget deficit now. Much of that goes against Usama bin Laden." Scheuer

"You see him as a very formidable enemy." Russert
"A tremendously formidable enemy sir, and admirable man. If he was on our side he would be dining at the White House."
Then Russert quotes from Scheuer's book:
"The military is now America's only tool, and will remain so while current policies are in place. No public diplomacy, Presidential praise for Islam, or politically correct debate masking the reality that many of the world's 1.3 billion Muslims hate us for actions, not values, will get America out of this war." Imperial Hubris
"What are the actions that created this hatred in the Muslim world?" Russert
"Our foreign policy sir. ...
He has created an agenda that appeals to Muslims whether they are fundamentalists, or liberals, or moderates.
Our unqualified support for Israel is one.
Our ability to keep oil prices low enough for Western consumers is another.
Our presence on the Arabian peninsula certainly is another.
Our military presence in places like Iraq and Afghanistan, in Yemen, in the Philippines, in other Muslim countries is a fourth.
Our support for governments that are widely viewed as suppressing Muslims; Russia in Chechnya for example, the Indians in Kashmir, the Chinese in western China.
But perhaps most of all, our policy of supporting what bin Laden and I think much of the Muslim world regards as tyrannical governments from the Atlantic to the Indian ocean; whether it's the Al Saud's, the Kuwaitis, the Egyptian government, the Algerian government. He's focused Muslims on those policies, and it is a very resonant agenda."
...

"His [bin Laden's] agenda is not to destroy America Mr. Russert. He simply wants us out of his neighborhood. He wants us out of the Middle East."
