So has anyone ever even used this site, as a homeowner? I'm posting this NOT to brag in anyway shape or form, The opposite, I'm thinking this site is very inaccurate - or we need to sell today! :thumb:

It states we have a finished basement, but we don't. I don't know WHEN they got that info, maybe an owner or 2 before me did? I think it's simply wrong. The listing is right besides that, except for the prices. Hell, it appears they state the median price for my neighborhood is around $1 million dollars. I find that hard to believe. But we do have a VERY VERY rich section, of course by the water. They won't raise my home a single cent, but I guess they count towards the town average. But my own home, I'd put it up for sale yesterday if I thought I could get that. Hell, I would tell anyone offering that, take a $100k off for a few issues and have a nice life, and I would still be thrilled!!

If only...

----

But now I found another site... seems my one neighbor paid $524k long after we moved in. My neighbor on the other side moved here Dec 2007, and records show they paid $620k. Could home values on a particular road increase in value by a TON in 15-20 years time, would that be normal? We're talking like increases on my block almost doubling home values.

I like using Zillow to search for homes, and get notices every day. But I have to say that my real estate teacher last fall said their valuations are "the joke of the industry". Could be some professional bitterness there, though.

We used Trulia because the realtor we had didn't trust Zillow. Trulia says pretty much the same thing. That Jim has more money that we do and his home is more expensive than ours. Jim has been holding out on us!! https://www.trulia.com/

I think the teach may be right, for the most part.

I don't see prices on that site?

Jim is BROKE!

My home value looks good on that site - but they raised it due to the $10 million dollar homes on the "other side" of the tracks along the water, the Long Island Sound. As far as I'm concerned, they can condemn this money pit. Granted, we don't flood in the basement anymore, but woke up today to well over a foot of water in various parts of the yard. Without the expensive well system we had installed, that would all be in my basement.

So what do we know? Jim got excited over nothing. Jim is broke. Jim's house sucks. Jim's wife is the only one who can "brag" about anything, as Jim is just a dirtbag.

city-data.com says the estimated median household income in Larchmont is $156,184 per year. What the hell are you doing over there?

On trulia, you have to put in your data and they put up prices.

This is a very wealthy town, for most folks anyway. I guess the Woman can fit into that category, but I sure as hell don't!! Those by the water are mostly wall street folks. Our realtor told us one guy paid "cash" on spot, more or less - of $12 million when he saw this awesome house on the water!!

On the east coast, the REAL rich people live in Connecticut. Jim needs to sell his house and move up.

jimnyc have you tried Redfin? Their valuation for our home seems pretty close.

(They also just said the value has gone down for two straight months. Ugh.)

My barely professional opinion is that you're getting a lot of credit for your square footage. According to Redfin the lowest sale price in your zip code for the last year with minimum 2000 square feet and 3 bedrooms was 645k, which backs up to the highway, everything else at 700k+.
