I confess. I put pepper in my V-8. Of course, I put salt and pepper on just about everything (not ice cream :) )

What I think is weird as Hell:

Ketchup on eggs

Ranch dressing on pizza

Calling ground meat, shredded lettuce, shredded cheese and diced tomatoes on a tortilla chip shell a taco.

And I still think you're weird for eating watermelon with breakfast. If you didn't live in an igloo and could grown some fruit, you might quit eating Popsicles with your eggs. Fruit with your breakfast or FOR your breakfast is completely normal round here. Us having fruit trees and all ...

You put crushed red pepper on a pizza. Sour cream? Don't EVER talk about my fruit for breakfast again. That's revolting.

Ketchup on eggs is almost a MUST. And it IS a must if it's an egg sandwich! And also with eggs and pork roll, "salt, pepper and ketchup" is a must!

If someone puts ranch dressing on their pizza... it makes it legal in 47 states to kick their ass right their in the pizza place.

And of course that's a "taco" WTF did you think it is? And of course it needs sour cream!!

And Brits eating bakes beans for breakfast?? WTF?? I love 'em, but they are weird sometimes!!

THAT is NOT a taco. A taco is carne guisada or carne asada with some pico de gallo and red or habanero sauce on it in a rolled flour tortilla.

Sour cream is authorized on maybe half a bake potato once a decade IF none of your friends are looking. Talk about losing man points. Geez.

Ketchup is for women, children & old folks. Tabasco or salsa verde is the only thing to use

Ranch dressing on pizza? Nope

Taco's in most areas are NOT tacos. The ones shown on TV are Americanized versions and are NOT to be trusted.

Same thing for chili with beans.

British baked beans for breakfast seems to be a staple of the United Kingdom, but then again they like eel pie and mash. I like beans (good thing too as they served it in some format daily on board the Cutters), so it don't scare me.

And the V8 thing, I know I use a LOT of Tabasco, but that shit tears up my stomach!

I put tobasco on my eggs. Or Louisiana Hot Sauce. On occasion. Usually just salt and pepper. I fry them in butter instead of oil.

I won't touch ketchup.

Here's another one though and I KNOW this is southern. I won't touch mayonnaise. It's Miracle Whip all the way.

I'm originally from Maine, Mom was Irish, Da was Canadian/American Indian. It was ALWAYS Mayo in the house. Once on my own I shifted to Miracle Whip & that's the only "white death" I'll use.

And I won't have mayo on a burger, my Bride claims that I have the same attitude as a Bruce Willis character when he said:
I'm gonna keep the coke and the fries but I'm gonna send this burger back. And if you put any mayonnaise on it, I'm gonna come over to your house, I'll chop your legs off, set fire to your house, and watch as you drag your bloody stumps out the door.

I don't like bland food. However, I watch some people in amazement. I don't know if it's a cavemen thing or what. They will eat ghost peppers and habaneros as if it proves something. I like peppers and I eat them. I do NOT eat peppers hot enough to fry my taste buds on the first bite. What's the point?

Sorry, just caught this

I have a friend who's Korean and his parents make the BEST Kimchi, not like the stuff that's commercially made.

Ranch Dressing on Pizza? :2up:
but only on mediocre Chain store pizza.
not on good local or homemade or good Chicago deep dish

I've been doing oatmeal for breakfast for years and have tried it a lot of different ways.
right now I'm into adding a nearly black banana, 2 table spoons of peanut butter, a dab of honey and hits of ginger and cinnamon.

A Sandwich I've been eating is toasted wheat bread with melted butter, mayo, bacon and mashed avacodo.

as far as fruits go i've never understood people who put salt on watermelon.
it's like putting salt on strawberry ice-cream, to me it makes no sense.

Yeah, like my wifey, I VERY often wonder why she ever married me, and why she hasn't left an open home and disappeared in the middle of the night. That's what I would do if I were married to myself.

Ok, also on the store bought fish sticks, though I probably haven't had those in 30 years.

A word to the wise... as someone that has worked on commercial fishing boats back when I was a kid, NEVER EVER eat cod. Cod is kicked off to the side and sits out in the sun while the valuable fish get the attention & scooted into the hold. Even as they come up out of the water, they're nasty & mushy - let alone sit out on the dirty deck for a while in the sun.

Ranch on anything other than dipping veggies? No way! I've never understood that flavor on chips/crackers.

Ranch is my favorite dressing on salads, much to Sharon's disgust. And it's awesome for dipping.

If I let my kids use Ranch as they wanted to, this house would easily go through a bottle every day. They put it on everything and I put a stop to that when a big jug of it disappeared within hours... knuckleheads were using it to glop on top of some kickass Chicago Deep Dish pizza.

Then my youngest promptly tried to put ketchup on the pizza... wtf? That was also summarily overruled at Casa del NT.

Being a condiment nazi is a ruthless business.

They are fuel for energy. Now if you're not burning them off I can see that as being problematic. The trick is to learn how many carbs you need. Lso depends on your body type. Carps don't bother me. I have to eat to keep weight ON.

And I have to eat red meat. For one, I came out of the hospital anemic. Two, I can tell the difference in my energy (especially since the last became a factor) if I don't get enough iron for even a day. Fresh veggies and fruit (some with salt because it's normal :) ).

I rarely eat any sweets or other junk food. I DID have some ice cream once last year though.

B) The body needs protein to survive - without it, you die. Period.
C) The body does not need carbs to survive - if you never eat another carb in your entire life, absolutely nothing negative happens.

Anyone ever have Borscht? It's an old-school peasant soup from Russia / Europe made from beets that probably wasn't very good - but when it's kicked up a notch with beef and served with a dollop of sour cream it is heavenly! I've never really cared for beets, but that stuff is amazing.

AUGHHHHH!!! nooooooo!
When I went to Germany for the first time, my maternal grandmother served my sister and I borscht. It was DISGUSTING! Mostly the broth, which was thin and sour. The beef was a poor cut. The veggies were OK.
When I expressed my disgust, my grandmother laughed and said it was about all they had to eat during WW2. Some people gathered up the remains of whatever vegetables they could find, throw in tree bark for season and cook it with water and dirt (yes, dirt).
:puke::wtf:
You put ketchup on hot dogs. You buy a Dodger Dog at the baseball game, you put ketchup on it. No chili, no onions, no mustard. KETCHUP!

Salt on watermelon? None of my family did that and they grew up in Dallas. You eat melon with NOTHING on it.

When my mom and dad eat fried or scrambled eggs, they put salsa on it. Lots of salsa.
You can put salsa on pretty much everything.

My daughter once had a crush on a guy and went on a lunch date with him. Found out he was a vegetarian. She ordered a steak sandwich and he left.

I've had crab cakes done up all different ways... and I made a pig of myself every time.

Greasy? Delicious. Falling apart? Delicious. Little overdone? Delicious. Underdone? Delicious. Breading fell off? Delicious, and give me those crab-flavored breading chunks.

I have a couple of hopeless addictions... first and foremost is good coffee, and then there's Crab. Nom nom nom.

Sharon and I spotted some King Crab at the store yesterday for $20 / pound, which is a decent price - last month it was up to $28 / pound which is way out of line. I believe we're going to have ourselves a crab feast in the next couple of days up at the cabin. With lots and lots of Land O' Lakes salted butter.

I wasn't hungry before I started writing this, but now I've got a watering mouth and the strong desire to haul ass to the store. The Urge is upon me and it won't be denied.

Interesting thread ! I've only just caught up with it.

I'm British .. so it might not be any surprise to anyone that I'm a fan of fish & chips. Or, steak & chips (the thicker and juicier the cut of steak, the better ...). Sometimes I add slices of some delicious black pudding to the meal, for added spice and fortifying iron content. For those Americans still not clear as to what black pudding is ...

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_pudding

Ah, but, what's my 'quirk' .. ?

Well ... I love garlic. I'm not talking about crushing garlic and having a hint of its taste added to my meal. I'm talking about peeling at least two garlic cloves, and munching through them as part of the meal.

A mouthful of chips, mixed with some battered cod .. then, bite through a garlic clove and munch half of one along with the mouthful of food (then, the other half with the next mouthful). It adds 'kick' to the whole mixture ... adds life to your food. I've got to the stage where I think that no such meal is complete without the cloves to munch through.

I think of eating a raw garlic clove as the food equivalent of a shot of whisky. Brilliant ... :drool2::drool2:

I find my 'quirk' delicious, though. Nothing enhances a plate of fish & chips quite like black pudding and garlic. It's all highly nutritious, too. The pudding will be high in iron and zinc. The garlic will be an excellent iodine source (good for thyroid conditions, or needs). In fact, garlic is the most concentrated source of dietary iodine obtainable from any land-based form of food.
