Sorry, wish I could have written better but was a very hard struggle to write today..
However I felt that I must--to honor those that gave us our lives, our futures our freedoms.
D-Day should never be forgotten and should be honored as it was the day the world saw justice triumph!!!
Britain should see this this and start to act this way again ...
Honor and Courage--against the new darkest menace..-Tyr

This Day, Greatest Losses, Blood Soaked Sands

Day to remember, honor for its gain
loss reminds us never, never again
Neptune shook the sea, watched cannons fire
sandy beach blown apart, war in its ire.
Courage, grit, sand, water death and red-blood
ahead lay bloody roads and blood soaked mud
D- Day, sacrifices were took heavy tolls
soldiers knew and thought that is how it rolls
Beach, water and death with dark blood soaked sand
courage embraced to take back all this land
On and on they came the in dying waves
war had its feast, that feast it always craves
Great loss, but victory is rarely free
they died to save all, all and you and me!

I thought that was beautiful, Tyr.

Thinking of my dad those many years ago, just a kid and like so many others, scared and brave. Miss you, dad!

Thank you my friend...

Never forget my friend, citizens stateside contributed in so many ways to the troop's victories. That would include even children that collected metals as salvage to go on to making weapons for our soldiers, etc.. That would include your dad and millions of other children.-Tyr

I know my dad would have like being out there collecting cans and such. ;) Instead he was Omaha just before 7am. Not one of his best days. Spent the next 6 months in UK recovering.

Sorry, I misunderstood the first comment. So your Dad was in the thick of it and fought. You should be so proud and know he was a hero that saved us all.
My uncle served and he too was wounded during WW2.
I HAVE IMMENSE RESPECT FOR THOSE MEN .... and all that serve this nation during times of war and/or peace..-Tyr
