are here. I don't like 'hot! hot!' but I like cold even less. Now here I sit and the temps are going to be crazy for awhile, while not Phoenix or Tucson, plenty hot! hot! for me:

98 today, goes up to 108 by Sunday, to 111 by Tuesday, then starts falling. Down to 105 by next Thursday. AC and cold drinks!

Not quite summer weather here. Low 80s at mid day. Needs to be warmer so we can all go to the beach.

Yikes! I would have 4 air conditioners running at the same time! LOL

I suppose it ain't that bad if you can avoid sitting in it and melting, but dang. It was 3 days in a row here in the 90's and I was complaining. Hell, the wimps in Philly actually canceled school due to the heat in the mid 90's.

But 111? That's death material! Gotta set the AC to like 8 degrees to get it down to 70. :) :)

What's the "hot" portion of the year there, and how bad? Is it true that SD has like 70-75 all year round? I've only been to SF, and it was a business trip, so it didn't really count.

I just came back from Prescott, had a 9:20 appt. When I left home around 7:30, it was 78. An hour later in Prescott, which is about 5600 ft up, it was 72. Left Prescott, (after a quick shop at Trader Joe's) around 9:45, it was 76. Now at home, 89. Sigh. Too hot to walk outside and so far I'm too pooped to get dressed for gym.

So I just put the two flavored Chevre in fridge-to go with the ginger snaps. Meanwhile, grabbed another iced coffee and some Meyer Lemon Thin Crisps. I think I feel a nap coming on. Then studying. LOL! AC is just a fact of life this week.

Well, I probably haven't bought it in 20 years, but I know I would still eat it if it were here! :)

Most foods at Trader Joe's make me wanna vomit, but they have some good hidden treasures. I don't know why, but the one by me, maybe cuz I'm in NY, seems like a liberal hangout. Don't even ask me why, just feels that way. :)

Fortunately I'm not in Phoenix. OTOH, the 'dry heat' only works for me up to about 90, then it's just 'hot, hot!!' Especially true above 102.

I mean yes, you feel like you've walked into a blast furnace going outside, but was NOTHING like S FL or Parris Island where you're just never dry. WAY higher discomfort level. When I first got to 29 Palms we didn't even have AC. Our workday during the summer was 0600-1400 and we were gone.

I remember sitting outside the dry cleaners one day waiting on my ride and looked up. Was 118 and I was in the sun. I decided I was acclimatized. :)

I don't think much of it. The daughter keeping the AC on Jim's sub-zero level bothers me more.

It doesn't 'cool down' here like in CA, but usually does go down. Tonight though, it's not working. LOL!

A couple days ago was the official start of 'Monsoon season.' I can't wait!I hear that when in NM. Have NO idea why they call it "monsoon season". Was just rain to me.

It depends here. We mostly get our moisture from the Gulf. Only occasionally from the West.

118° in back yard today ... 126° in front yard.

Pool water is 89°

Might cool down to 85° tonight.

Hurry up rain .... I had to fill up water trough for wildlife twice this afternoon. Two young bucks and a doe came through and had a couple of squabbles over the water.

The birds are hanging on the window screens trying to get close to the cool windows.

Just heard it is soon to be 120 degrees in Phoenix. Dear lord.

Some flights out of Phoenix had to be cancelled due to heat.

PHOENIX JUST PROVIDED another reason to hate flying: the heat. With temperatures there expected to hit 119 degrees Fahrenheit, airlines canceled more than 40 flights today.
Wait. What? Airplanes can't fly because it's too hot? That's crazy.
No, not really. According to news reports, the heat poses a particular problem for the Bombardier CRJ airliners, which have a maximum operating temperature of 118 degrees. Bigger planes from Airbus and Boeing can handle 126 degrees or so.

The past couple of days have been decent here-warm, but not horrendous. Evening showers. Today it's supposed to go to 101, but the rest of the week is looking to be in the 90's and that is where 'dry heat' makes a difference. It's not a 'jungle' humidity that one feels in IL or FL, even 101 doesn't feel oppressive.
