My daughter has been asking questions about North Korea lately, so we have been watching some recent specials produced about the Hermit Kingdom. Various groups from South Korea and Japan have done a good job of obtaining inside information, using cash and products to obtain flash drives smuggled out.

Kim Jong-il could be on his last legs. Since China shut down most food supplies, North Korea's massive army has been without food. This has caused a lot of internal dissent. The show of "nuclear force" is a last ditch attempt to "bargain" with the U.S. Intelligence smuggled out says the "weapons" are merely rockets with no payload. Kim believes he can reach a deal with the U.S. to "disarm" in return for a pledge not to attack.

Kim is extremely paranoid. His only control over his people is through fear. There are almost daily public executions for everything from watching outside shows to dropping a newspaper with Kim's picture on it.

The programs are fascinating if you can find them on the internet or cable TV. They will lessen your fear of North Korea.

first off, you're a liar.

Secondly, What is really happening in NK is what has been happening for 40 years. They bluster and scream and throw tantrums until pacified by the world. Newsflash - NK army has been logistically fucked for a generation. Too many people and things to sustain. There's no internal dissent because dissenters get killed.

Unless we can get eyes on the ground delivering real time intel from that prison-like country I don't know that we can be certain what is actually going on. Kim certainly rules by fear, his people are terrified to even be noticed by the government.

One thing is certain, Kim is absolutely cuckoo-pants and cannot be bargained with.

We pretty much do have "eyes on the ground." Kim is so paranoid, he makes everyone in power, military and otherwise, submit written notices pertaining to every action they take. These reports are often copied on flash drives and smuggled out of the country, where they have been disseminated by intelligence agencies in South Korea, Japan and Russia.
You should see some of the propaganda representing how the U.S. is portrayed to look. Death squads prowl our streets killing at will. Trump's rallies are seen as religious ceremonies, followed by the faithful beating up non-whites. Every American street is lined with homeless people. Starving children are everywhere.

Pretty much par for the course I've seen propaganda that's much like that in years past. One example, the North Koreans showed films of Americans living in tents in the middle of the winter melting snow for drinking water. The propaganda went on to say that Americans were relying of the North Koreans for aid! When in fact the aid packages were Red Cross packages.
