Dang, this Thursday, the woman and I will have been married for 23 years. If you had asked me when I was 24 or so, I wouldn't have thought I'd even be getting married, let alone it lasting more than a few weeks. Then I met Diana. She is my world, even though I don't always say that or brag about it here. We've been through many great times and some bad times, and here we are still standing. She's the coolest woman alive and I am so so lucky that I met her and married her. And now a 16 year old going on towards 17 and about to get his drivers license. WTF? And she's also the best mom too!

Happy Anniversary, Jim!

(I'll leave it to Gunny to say something rotten about you or how much patience Diana has!)

My only/favorite picture of our wedding evening. This restaurant was beautiful. It's about 50 yards out into the water to the entrance. We had reserved a solo spot in the back of the building, just for 2 of course.

Probably not the greatest photo. It's a picture I just took on my phone of the picture in it's all glass frame. I can't find ANY opening on this frame anywhere, it's as if the photo was built into it somehow? Best I could do. :)

You should have seen the fish there. There's a spotlight shining on the water and it was just endless fish, and huge ones too, and of course colorful.

My wife looks like she still liked me back then!! Then again, I believe we were married for a few hours at that point.

Destination wedding? You were ahead of yourselves!

Our Mom's were being weird and juvenile about the process and the dresses and the pretty much everything, so we went where no one could find us instead! That week is still easily the best week and vacation I've ever taken. Sandals was fantastic, the workers were fantastic. Hell, one of the workers was my best man! His name was Josiah, and he was a local to the island. Felt like he really was a best friend of mine by the time we left! :)

Thanks!

Here's another, when she had much shorter hair. I can't tell if she still liked me in that picture or not?

Hmmm, maybe you should plan a revisit for next anniversary?

My daughter and SIL went to a Sandals resort for their second anniversary, delayed honeymoon. They had a fabulous time. They are planning going for their 10th, which is coming up in just a couple years. You're like part of 6 couples I've known to go to resorts, all rave about the good time-even one who mostly had rain-and the greatness of the staff and grounds.

Oh man, I'd love to! But getting the woman to go is another story. I just failed in getting her to go to Alaska. I figured if I could take her there for our anniversary that I can accidentally end up at Rick's cabin for a week. She didn't fall for it.:thumb:

I thought the place was amazing, all inclusive everything. So I was drinking and ordering up some hot dogs outside our room at about 2am. They stayed out at this little hut cooking as late as the drunks were willing to stay out. But the staff is what made the place. Beyond friendly and helpful. And they would get involved in everything, playing the games and involved in the entertainment. You couldn't help but get to know them. I don't know how it is at all their locations, but St. Lucia was fantastic, couldn't rate it any higher. They had 2 on the island, and the other Sandals was for families, while the one we went to was couples only. So no little rug rat bastards making noise and splashing me with water.

I'm pretty sure you can do Sandal's for less than airfare to Alaska, sorry Rick!

Yep, the 'kids' went to the couples only resort too. I think that Derek and Lindsay are considering doing the same after a year too. They may be running down to FL for a 'short honeymoon,' Derek just started his job about 6 months ago.

We've actually discussed having a 'family trip' to one of the family resorts, the price is reasonable and they do have good rates for airfare. We'd wait until the youngest is at least 5, so if Derek and Lindsay don't have one pretty quick, could be in 3 years or so. LOL! My guess is though, the clock will restart, as they are both excited to have cousins close in age.

It's surprisingly cheap right now!

Found a flight leaving from La Guardia to Anchorage on Tuesday and returning on 7/10 for $705. That's pretty good for such short notice.

Scratch that, found a ticket on United for $548 RT. That's a steal... I can't even fly to Seattle for that.
