So this is the tiny lure I got the King Salmon on. Very small, meant more for the trout I suppose. Was on a pole with 6lb test line that was decaying and old in a few spots, but she held!! Also, when the Salmon took the bait, she ripped the rod right off the pole! So now I'm holding the pole, and holding the neck of the rod with 2 extended fingers reeling her in. I'm yelling to Rick the whole time "Rick, the reel is off, the damn thing snapped the reel off, WTF do I do???" and he just kept reminding me to reel her in and don't lift the rod, and to just pull her sideways up on to the rocks. I got lucky and it all worked out. Just a massively lucky catch on a massively lucky pole that I didn't end up losing in the river!! :)

Good old Vibrax.

Those have always performed like champions for me, I'm pretty sure it's because it buzzes underwater and gets the fish's attention. I lost my silver & blue Vibrax which was my favorite of the lot, but that one you have now has caught many, many trout & salmon over the years.

Which reminds me - I have to go down a buy a bunch more of those, that was my last one!

Is that the one I caught back for you after you snagged it and lost it honey?

I'm not sure. The one that was snagged, I think it was Patrick or Rick that finally got her out? One of the hooks was then straight. I saw Rick with a pair of needle nose later on. Not sure if this was the same one or not? If so, even better!

Yep, it was.

A couple of days before Jim got there, Sharon and I were up at Disappointment doing some fishing and I got that Vibrax snagged & finally ended up breaking the line - I just chalked it up to another lost lure. A few casts later, Sharon snagged that Vibrax hook-to-hook with her lure and somehow pulled it off the snag and retrieved it! Was a one in a million shot.

Yep, it did get snagged again and I had to bend one of the hooks back into proper shape. The fact that that Vibrax survived to end up going to NYC with you is pretty impossible odds, especially after landing a King on a trout rod setup!

Oh yeah! And it may not have been Cass's monster of a Salmon.... "There may be others like her, but this one is MINE". And she's getting a special place on the wall with a nice plaque and the photo. Whenever you take your own record catch and then multiply it by x5, that's a special day! :)

I really don't think Cass's fish was that much bigger than yours... She is just tiny so it looks even bigger. Also YOU got a white king!

A lot of impossible things happened to get that lure to NY.

That won't be forgotten! Like I said, that sucker is going up. I'm gonna get the photo on a nice plaque of wood and have the lure placed on there too. That sucker will be displayed prominently to show off my Alaska trip!!
