Limbaugh Questions Why Media Chose To Ignore A Huge Story

Citing an exclusive report by The Daily Caller News Foundation’s investigative group, conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh voiced frustration that Democrats are sidestepping media attention due to potential improprieties.

FBI agents recently seized smashed computer hard drives from the home of Florida Democratic Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz’s information technology (IT) administrator, according to sources. The Pakistani-born longtime IT aide to the former Democratic National Committee (DNC) Chairwoman who resigned in disgrace has since tried to retrieve the hard drives. Limbaugh noted and lamented that many of the popular news outlets have hardly touched the story.

“Here we got leaks, and here we’ve got ‘sources with knowledge of the investigation’ talking about Democrats,” Limbaugh said. “Well, The Daily Caller’s been the only ones on it. I mean, they’re the ones who did that story two weeks ago. They revived it a bit today. But nobody’s picking up on this. It makes sense. This is the exact kind of story the Democrats and the Drive-By Media would want to ignore.”

Limbaugh notes how much of the clamoring over allegations of misconduct is centered on Republicans, specifically the Trump administration, even though, to him, there appears to be a lot of conjecturing and little evidence.

“Exactly what they’re claiming happened with Trump and Russia and all this, it actually did happen with the Democrats!” the political personality said. “Their server was hacked; they wouldn’t turn the servers and any of the network equipment over to the FBI for forensic analysis. Instead, the IT aide to Debbie ‘Blabbermouth’ Schultz and three of his family members were working on IT for a number of Democrats in the House, and the FBI has seized computer hard drives from this guy.”

I don't think it's being 'ignored,' but the investigation has been going on for well over a year, just moved a few months ago from Capitol Police to the FBI, after threads found out of the country, in the Middle East. Not that there's any reason to trust the FBI anymore, but they are not likely to be giving out much information. It will come out though, when it gets to DOJ, a department less worthy of trust than the FBI.

This is literally the FIRST time I've heard of drives being seized from this family and the destruction and the warrants. I've heard talk in the past of course, but this is the first I've heard of the FBI going in. If they did in the past I missed it. Also the first I heard of them actually going in, only to find smashed hard drives.

But more to the point, and what I think Limbaugh was pointing out, was that this stuff JUST happened with the FBI, and there has been very little coverage about it on the MSM. I don't really watch TV, but I sure read ALL of the sites, and truly didn't know of this until I got to a few out of the ordinary republican pundit sites. I searched CNN and no story about it. Nor could I find it on MSNBC. How is that even possible that they don't cover it? Fox news covered it. Couldn't find anything on regular NBC.

I would call that being ignored, when a major story as such comes out... stuff like that should be on EVERY major news media.

It often seems like just 'boring' stuff:

Oh, I know the subject is covered, and has been covered in the past. I'm speaking of this specific incident this week where the FBI raided and took the drives.

While the MSM is obviously all over the Trump/Russia issues, one would think this raid would have warranted at least a blurb from other stations and outlets.

The hard drives, being the absolute center of any "proof" regarding what may have been on those servers - very odd that it took so damn long to confiscate them. And likely why you end up confiscating smashed drives. :(

I hear you and I think we both agree that the MSM will not cover this type of thing until forced to. I see this morning that FOX Business finally ran something on it, which may be the beginning.

Wasserman Schultz is up to her 'whathaveyou' in this mess and seems to have dirtied my other Democrat Congressmen with her sharing these Pakistanis services.

This is just the kind of story that the outside the MSM is good at, it's taking a long time and the help of the misjudgment of Wasserman Schultz to bring it as far as a couple months ago, with the story regarding her threatening the Capitol Police. Now the Pakistani thought by renting out the house, to a military family would keep the wolves from the door? He let the farmer in to protect the hen house, including calls to the police/FBI. Even Hollywood couldn't have written this one.

Wasserman Schultz staffer arrested trying to leave the country

BY JOHN BOWDEN - 07/25/17 05:49 PM EDT

A House IT aide working for Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (Fla.), the former Democratic National Committee chairwoman, was arrested Tuesday on bank fraud charges while trying to leave the country.
Fox News reported that Imran Awan was arrested at Dulles International Airport.

Awan, an IT staffer who has worked for many House Democrats and is currently employed by Wasserman Schultz, was allegedly at the center of a scheme that involved double-charging the House for IT equipment, and may also have exposed House information online, according to Fox.

Awan and his family have reportedly worked for House Democrats for years. He declared bankruptcy in 2012, but has made millions of dollars on the House payroll over at least a decade of work for various members, according to a Politico report (http://www.politico.com/story/2017/03/house-democrats-it-staffers-hina-alvi-imran-awan-235569).

Imran Awan, a House staffer at the center of a criminal investigation potentially impacting dozens of Democratic lawmakers, has been arrested on bank fraud and is prevented from leaving the country while the charges are pending.

A senior House Democratic aide confirmed Awan was still employed by Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fla.) as of Tuesday morning. David Dameron, a spokesman for Wasserman Schultz said late Tuesday, Awan had been fired but did not return multiple requests for comment asking when he was terminated.

Awan pled not guilty (http://politi.co/2tHqdeq) on Tuesday to one count of bank fraud during his arraignment in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia.

Awan is accused of attempting to defraud the Congressional Federal Credit Union by obtaining a $165,000 home equity loan for a rental property, which is against the credit union’s policies since it is not the owner's primary residence. Those funds were then included as part of a wire transfer to two individuals in Faisalabad, Pakistan.

RNC Chair: ‘Debbie Wasserman Schultz Has Obstructed at Every Level’ With Former IT Staffer Imran Awan

On Wednesday’s broadcast of the Fox Business Network’s “Mornings with Maria,” RNC Chair Ronna Romney McDaniel stated that former DNC Chair Representative Debbie Wasserman Schultz’s (D-FL) conduct in the case of former staffer Imran Awan amounts to obstruction on a matter that potentially impacts national security.

McDaniel said, “We have to get to the bottom of this, and Debbie Wasserman Schultz has obstructed at every level, on something that affects, potentially our national security. So to have this gentlemen try and leave the country yesterday, and now we know there’s bank fraud, and we know he destroyed these hard drives and when you talk to — when you read the story about the Marine that found them in the apartment he was trying to rent. I mean, it’s a long story, but it’s something we have to get to the bottom of. We’re not hearing the Democrats talk about it at all. Where’s Debbie Wasserman Schultz? And we also need to know why DNC never turned over their hard drive to the FBI to review it as to their hacking.”

Wasserman-Schultz fires IT staffer following fraud arrest

WASHINGTON (AP) — Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz has fired an information technology staffer following his arrest on a bank fraud charge at a Virginia airport where he was attempting to fly to Pakistan.

Wasserman Schultz spokesman David Damron says Irman Awan was fired by the Florida Democrat Tuesday.

Awan’s attorney, Chris Gowen, confirmed that his client was arrested at Dulles Airport Monday. He says Awan was cleared to travel and had informed the House of his plans to visit his family before the scheduled trip.

Gowen says the federal bank fraud count stems from a “modest real estate matter” and is motivated by anti-Muslim bigotry. He’s confident Awan “will soon be able to clear his name and get on with his life.”

7 Fast Facts About Imran Awan, Wasserman Schultz’s Jailed IT Vendor

Imran Awan, the Pakistan-born IT vendor to several top House Democrats under investigation since February, was arrested allegedly trying to flee the United States Tuesday.

Some of the most important facts about this developing and potentially massive story:

1. Awan has been a staffer for Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-FL) and other top congressional Democrats since 2004:

UPI reports more than 24 different Democratic House offices used Awan’s services. Awan’s time with Wasserman Schultz included her entire tenure as chairwoman of the Democratic National Committee. Estimates are that Awan and his family received more than $4 million from House Democrats since 2009.

2. Awan was still employed by Wasserman Schultz’s office until he was arrested Tuesday night:

According to Fox News reporter Chad Pergram, the former DNC head’s office only terminated him after authorities moved in for the arrest as Awan tried to make his way out of the country via Dulles International Airport despite his being publicly under investigation for what appear to be embezzlement and fraud allegations:

https://i.imgur.com/6mDxQQz.png

3. Wasserman Schultz has “inexplicably protected” Awan for months:

The Daily Caller News Foundation’s Luke Rosiak, who has been spearheading this story since February, reported in May about Wasserman Schultz’s appearing to threaten Capitol Police Chief Matthew Verderosa with “consequences” if he did not return a laptop Awan owned that his officers had seized. Rosiak described the move as inexplicable. Other House Democrats had started dumping Awan around the same time, but Wasserman Schultz stuck with him, despite his reported banning from the House IT network over the investigation.

4. Despite declaring bankruptcy in 2012, Awan wired $283,000 ahead to two people in Faisalabad, Pakistan, before making his break:

According to court charging documents reported in Politico, Awan fraudulently obtained $165,000 as a home equity loan from the Congressional Federal Credit Union before making the wire transfer.

5. Awan’s own family is at loggerheads with him:

Awan brought his brothers and wife with him into the congressional IT business. The family business, however, may not have been a happy one. The brothers’ stepmother is reportedly suing Awan for wiretapping and threats to have her family arrested in Pakistan. Awan’s own father, who is suspected of being caught up in his son’s fraudulent financial dealings, appears to have changed his name to avoid being associated with him.

...

6. Awan threatened a veteran family to get back the smashed hard drives and other computer equipment now at the center of the investigation:

Awan and his family rented their Lorton, Virginia, home to a married couple. The Marine veteran husband told the Daily Caller he found “wireless routers, hard drives that look like they tried to destroy, laptops, [and] a lot of brand new expensive toner” in the garage.

“They recycled cabinets and lined them along the walls. They left in a huge hurry,” he continued. “It looks like government-issued equipment. We turned that stuff over.”

...

7. In 2014, CNN published an op-ed by Awan about the perils of “Islamophobia.”

In “Opinion: ‘The Muslims Are coming!’ Why Islamophobia Is So Dangerous,” Awan openly mocked Western news outlets that publish stories on issues that are “used by the far-right into vitriolic hate against Muslims.” His examples of “Islamophobic” stories that should cause no worry include “Muhammad” becoming the most popular name in England and projections that Muslims may soon outnumber Christians in the land of St. Augustine of Canterbury.

CNN was all too happy to publish Awan’s dressing down of “threatening comments that are both extremely inflammatory and promote Islamophobia.”

If this is true that would be insane in the membrane. But right now it's at conspiracy / Assange level. But I have to wonder, if there is proof any of them had access, and Wikileaks is seeing this ... then what else was on there and what else may have been accessed or copied elsewhere?

WOW! WikiLeaks Email Connects Nancy Pelosi to Wasserman Schultz IT Staffer Imran Awan

Don’t look to the mainstream media to tell you how troubling the situation with the Awan brothers is. It’s worse than you think. After Imran Awan was arrested this week for trying to flee the country, WikiLeaks’ Julian Assange reminded his 279,000 Twitter followers of the link between Imran Awan and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi.

COMPLETE MEDIA BLACKOUT on Wasserman Schultz IT Scandal

The fake news media cable networks have completely blacked out coverage of one of the biggest scandals from the DNC yet (besides the Seth Rich murder). Debbie Wasserman Schultz employed Pakistani IT staffers who were paid over $4 million dollars over the course of their employment even though they were accused of a cyber-security breach.

Imran Awan was arrested as he attempted to flee the U.S. after wiring approximately $300,000 to Pakistan. His lawyer claims that the accusations of bank fraud are due to ‘anti-Muslim’ bigotry. Yeah. Whatever.

According to analysis by Washington Free Beacon, major cable news networks have given no coverage to the burgeoning scandal involving IT staffers to former DNC Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz.

There has been no mention of Iman Awan or Debbie Wasserman Schultz in the past week on MSNBC or CNN programs. Schultz has hardly been mentioned on either network since March 1, except in the context of a possible email she had sent in which Loretta Lynch had assured a Hillary Clinton staffer that the email investigation would not go “too far.”

Fox News is the only cable network who is covering this huge scandal.

Imran Awan was arrested on Monday night trying to flee the country with $12,000 of cash on him and his wife.

They accessed computers unauthorized. They were getting foreign information. The three brothers were making $161,000, $165,000, and $160,000.
One of the brothers has a criminal background.

The Gateway Pundit previously reported the FBI seized smashed hardrives belonging to Imran Awan.

the media has played up every scrap of a hint, any innuendo, any "official" or unofficial speculation for 6-7 solid months DAILY on the "nothing burger" of Russia "rigging" "colluding" and "hacking" the election but this story doesn't get any play.
Flat-earthers have better arguments and evidence than what the medias been throwing the public about Russia/Trump/Putin.

the media has lost ANY semblance of objectivity or realism. When it comes to this past election.
It's painful to watch the news as they keep trying to blow into a fire the BS Russia stories.

I'm no Trump or Putin fan but MAKING up stuff and CONSTANTLY harping on this Trump/Russia thing as if it's SO important ... the MOST important... reality that world needs to think about is just weird, and twilight zonish IMO.

If Trump had smashed his computers and harddrives and his I.T. guy was under arrest and/or under investigation ..is there any QUESTION if we'd see every detail on the news?

There's ZERO excuse for what's passing as news, in general, since this election began IMO.

Preface by Washington's Blog: We asked top NSA whistleblower Bill Binney what he thought about a report claiming that the DNC emails were transferred too quickly to have been accessed by a hacker, and could only have been copied by a DNC leaker. This article is his response. Background here (http://www.washingtonsblog.com/2017/07/russiagate-stink-without-secret.html) and here. (http://www.washingtonsblog.com/2016/11/us-insiders-not-russia-leaked-clinton-emails.html)MEMORANDUM FOR: The President
FROM: Veteran Intelligence Professionals for Sanity (VIPS)
SUBJECT: Was the “Russian Hack” an Inside Job?
Executive Summary
Forensic studies of “Russian hacking” into Democratic National Committee computers last year reveal that on July 5, 2016, data was leaked (not hacked) by a person with physical access to DNC computers, and then doctored to incriminate Russia.
After examining metadata from the “Guccifer 2.0” July 5, 2016 intrusion into the DNC server, independent cyber investigators have concluded that an insider copied DNC data onto an external storage device, and that “telltale signs” implicating Russia were then inserted.
Key among the findings of the independent forensic investigations is the conclusion that the DNC data was copied onto a storage device at a speed that far exceeds an Internet capability for a remote hack. Of equal importance, the forensics show that the copying and doctoring were performed on the East coast of the U.S. Thus far, mainstream media have ignored the findings of these independent studies [see here (http://disobedientmedia.com/2017/07/new-research-shows-guccifer-2-0-files-were-copied-locally-not-hacked/) and here (https://theforensicator.wordpress.com/guccifer-2-ngp-van-metadata-analysis/)].....

Imran Awan Scandal Shows Just How Much Dirt Dems Wanted to Hide By Focusing on Trump-Russia

When U.S. Capitol Police, the FBI, and Customs and Border Protection teamed up to arrest Imran Awan, an IT staffer for Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fla.) and other congressional Democrats, Americans began to realize just how broken and corrupt the Democratic Party has become. Indeed, such scandals beg the question of whether the Trump-Russia hype has not been a desperate attempt to distract the country from a long train of scandals on the Left.

Awan was arrested Monday night on charges of bank fraud, to which he has pled not guilty. As Forbes' Frank Miniter argued, however, his strange case "has all the feeling of the opening scene of a movie that might soon include political corruption and so much more."

Politico reported that Awan is "at the center of a criminal investigation potentially impacting dozens of lawmakers." He was arrested after wiring $283,000 from the Congressional Federal Credit Union to Pakistan, The Daily Caller reported.

PJ Media's Debra Heine has been on the story since it broke in February of this year. Imran Awan and his Pakistani-born brothers, Abid and Jamal Awan, are under criminal investigation by the U.S. Capitol Police and the FBI on suspicion that they accessed congressional computers without permission and stole equipment.

Of COURSE she is a wreck, jail scares her! Otherwise, why would she be a wreck?

Debbie Wasserman Schultz “Absolute Wreck – Barely Able to Function” Since Imran Awan Arrest

Debbie Wasserman Schultz employed Pakistani IT staffers and brothers who were paid over $4 million dollars over the course of their employment even though they were accused of a cyber-security breach.

Imran Awan was arrested as he attempted to flee the U.S. after wiring approximately $300,000 to Pakistan. Fox News is the only cable network covering this huge scandal. When Imran Awan was arrested he was carrying $12,000 in cash on him. His wife was carrying $12,000 of cash when she fled the country too.

Imran and his Muslim brothers, Abid and Jamal accessed unauthorized computers while acting as IT specialists. The three brothers were making $161,000, $165,000, and $160,000 and one of the brothers has a criminal background.

Word has it that Debbie Wasserman Schultz is an absolute wreck since Imran Awan was arrested. Calls for her to testify to Congress are increasingly growing as well.

Wasserman Schultz knows she’s in hot water over this IT scandal. The Gateway Pundit previously reported the FBI seized smashed hard drives belonging to Imran Awan. We also reported that Debbie Wasserman Schultz, threatened the chief of the U.S. Capitol Police with ‘consequences’ for holding equipment that she says belonged to her in order to build a criminal case against a Pakistani IT staffer suspected of massive cybersecurity breaches.

Well they have certainly been the front runners with the story. I WISH all of our media would demand information and even more, but I think that would be asking too much. :(

Media Ditches Substance Of Wasserman Schultz FBI Boondoggle To Focus On Conspiracy Theories

There has been a good deal of noise — though perhaps not enough — surrounding a recently fired IT aide to Florida Democratic Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, Imran Awan, and his family’s potential financial schemes. While certain outlets are working out the facts of the case, The New York Times, BuzzFeed and Snopes seem more concerned with casting doubt by bringing up speculations and misinformation about the story from unknown blog sites and YouTubers.

The Daily Caller News Foundation’s Investigative Group reporter Luke Rosiak, who has covered this story extensively since it first appeared in February, broke the news Sunday that “FBI agents seized smashed computer hard drives from the home of Florida Democratic Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz’s information technology (IT) administrator, according to two sources with knowledge of the investigation.”

The NYT and BuzzFeed fail to mention this and many other key facts in recent articles, and Snopes obfuscates the story by rating a claim from a no-name blog as false, requiring the reader to dig through the fact check to find the truth.

Awan was arrested Monday night just hours after TheDCNF’s Sunday story said he was under investigation by the FBI. “He attempted to leave the country hours after The Daily Caller News Foundation’s Investigative Group revealed that he is the target of an FBI investigation, and the FBI apprehended him at the airport,” Rosiak reported.

Before attempting to leave for Pakistan, Awan wired almost $300,000 to the country. As Rosiak mentions, “Credit union officials permitted the wire to go through, and his wife has already fled the country to Pakistan, after police confronted her at the airport and found $12,000 in cash hidden in her suitcase but did not stop her from boarding, court documents show.”

#FakeNews NYT Finally Reports on Awan Brothers Scandal — But Somehow Makes the Title a Jab at Trump

This is why they are called #FakeNews–

The hacks at The New York Times finally came around to reporting on the Awan brothers story on Friday. They released their report late Friday afternoon so that it would drift off into the weekend.

Three Pakistani brothers who managed IT service for several Democratic government officials were relieved of their duties in February on suspicion that they accessed specific computer networks without permission, also known as hacking.

Abid, Imran, and Jamal Awan were barred from computer networks at the House of Representatives in February.

Imran Awan was arrested on Monday night trying to flee the country with $12,000 of cash on him.

They accessed computers unauthorized. They were getting foreign information. The three brothers were making $161,000, $165,000, and $160,000.
One of the brothers has a criminal background.

** Former IT staffer Imran Awan allegedly threatened to have his stepmother’s Pakistani relatives kidnapped if she talked to U.S. law enforcement authorities,

Debbie Wasserman Shultz continued to pay Imran Awan for five months for IT services after he was banned from House computers.

Russia Today reported this in March.

The brothers, Abid, Jamal and Imran Awan, worked as shared employees for various members of the House, covering committees relating to intelligence, terrorism and cybersecurity, which included the House Committee on Foreign Affairs, the Committee on Homeland Security and the Subcommittee on Tactical Air and Land Forces of the Armed Services Committee.

Imran’s wife, Hina Alvi, and Rao Abbas, both of whom worked as House IT employees, are also under investigation.

The group were banned from accessing the computers as a result of the investigation but, as of earlier this month, Imran Awan remains as an “technology adviser” to former Democratic National Committee chair, Debbie Wasserman Schultz…

…Imran, who started working for Wasserman Schultz in 2005, received $164,600 in 2016, with close to $20,000 of that coming from Wasserman Schultz.

Jamal, who started working as a staffer in 2014, was paid $157,350.12 in 2016. Abid, who started working in 2005, was paid $160,943 in 2016.

Hina Alvi, who was employed as a staffer from February 2007, was paid 168,300 in 2016. Rao Abbas was paid $85,049 in 2016.

The Daily Caller reports that Imran received $1.2 million in salary since 2010, while Abid and Alvi received over $1 million each.

You gotta wonder...

Daily Caller is reporting this evening that Wasserman Schultz planned on leaving Imran Awan on payroll if he had made it to Pakistan:

http://dailycaller.com/2017/07/29/wasserman-schultz-seemingly-planned-to-pay-suspect-even-while-he-lived-in-pakistan/?utm_source=site-share

Democratic Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz seemingly planned to pay cyber-probe suspect and IT aide Imran Awan even while he was living in Pakistan, if the FBI hadn’t stopped him from leaving the U.S. Monday. Public statements and congressional payroll records suggest she also appears to have known that his wife, a fellow IT staffer, left the country for good months ago — while she was also a criminal suspect.

In all, six months of actions reveal a decision to continue paying a man who seemingly could not have been providing services to her, and who a mountain of evidence suggests was a liability. The man long had access to all of Wasserman Schultz’s computer files, work emails and personal emails, and he was recently accused by a relative in court documents of wiretapping and extortion.

Records also raise questions about whether the Florida Democrat permitted Awan to continue to access computers after House-wide authorities banned him from the network Feb. 2. Not only did she keep him on staff after the ban, but she also did not have any other IT person to perform necessary work that presumably would have arisen during a months-long period, according to payroll records.

One of the earlier DC stories is getting bumped quite a lot this evening:

http://dailycaller.com/2017/02/21/congressional-computer-admins-in-criminal-probe-owed-money-to-hezbollah-connected-fugitive/

House Dem IT Staffers Owed Money To Hezbollah-Connected Fugitive

LUKE ROSIAK (http://dailycaller.com/author/luke-rosiak/)
Investigative Reporter
10:24 PM 02/21/2017

Congressional aides suspected of criminally misusing their access to House computer systems owed $100,000 to an Iraqi politician who is wanted by U.S. authorities and has been linked to Hezbollah, the Iranian-backed Middle Eastern terrorist outfit.

Imran Awan and four of his relatives were employed as information technology (IT) aides by dozens of House Democrats, including members of the intelligence, foreign affairs and homeland security committees. The aides’ administrator-level IT access was terminated earlier this month amid a criminal probe (http://dailycaller.com/2017/02/04/exclusive-house-intelligence-it-staffers-fired-in-computer-security-probe/) by U.S. Capitol Police of a suspected security breach, including an off-site server housing congressional data.

The Daily Caller News Foundation Investigative Group has reported that while working for Congress, the Pakistani brothers controlled a limited liability corporation called Cars International A (CIA), a car dealership with odd finances, which took–and was unable to repay–a $100,000 loan from Dr. Ali Al-Attar (http://dailycaller.com/2017/02/20/exclusive-house-dem-it-guys-in-security-probe-secretly-took-100k-in-iraqi-money/).

...

Brothers Imran, Abid and Jamal Awan, as well as their wives Natalia Sova and Hina Alvi, were all on the congressional payroll.

Not long before the indictment, Pakistani-born Virginia resident Nasir Khattak, who co-owned CIA with Abid, still had access to some bank accounts holding Attar’s assets.

Khattak was a realtor, and with Attar’s permission, “acquired the money through adjustments to the accounts that he controlled as the realtor for al-Attar,” court documents say.

Abid managed CIA’s daily operations, even though he was also employed full time running computers for representatives that have included Emanuel Cleaver of Missouri, Tammy Duckworth of Illinois and Yvette Clark of New York. But the car dealership was hemorrhaging money. Customers were often shown cars borrowed from a dealership next door.

“It was very bad record-keeping in Cars International … it is close to impossible to make any sense out of all the transactions that happened,” Khattak said in court documents.

CIA’s finances interwove with the House’s. A car-dealing associate who was owed money by the brothers, Rao Abbas, was placed on the congressional payroll.

Khattak said CIA was a “family business” and by 2010 Imran was its primary manager instead of Abid.

Abid Awan filed for personal bankruptcy in 2012 because the dealership was in his name, listing $1 million in liabilities (http://dailycaller.com/2017/02/07/congress-it-probe-suspects-had-massive-debts-years-of-suspicious-activity/). Bankruptcies are a major security red flag in background checks for employees in sensitive positions.

...

The investigations regarding Trump and 'Russia, Russia, Russia,' have been going on a long time now, without coming up so far with anything of substance regarding collusion. Granted, there's smoke, but a source has yet to be identified.

Now with this? It seems flames are everywhere and have been for a long time...

I see no proof of anything being sold to foreign agents. But it wouldn't surprise me to find out in the end that this was the case. And Wasserman was WAY to comfy in allowing this guy and his family to do as they please. And then seemed to want to continue things with him, even though the shit was already hitting the fan. So maybe no sales, but something is still way wrong here.

Yup, no doubt, sadly. But the facts are all there to see. Most won't admit it, but the non-stop crap like that about Hillary is the main reason she was done in. No one wanted a crook in there, a liar, someone who was 100% busted for the email fiasco, and lied the entire time about it.

Wasserman Schultz Says Laptop She Sought To Keep From Police Was Awan’s, Not Hers

Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz never actually saw the computer she fought to block the Capitol Police from examining as evidence in a criminal case against her IT aide by saying it was hers, she told the South Florida Sun-Sentinel Thursday.

She threatened “consequences” on May 18 for the chief of the Capitol Police unless the laptop was returned — despite police contending it was needed to help determine whether a staffer may have violated the House’s cybersecurity.

“This was not my laptop. I have never seen that laptop. I don’t know what’s on the laptop,” she said Thursday. She said it was Imran’s laptop but purchased using taxpayer funds from her office.

After the exchange with Capitol Police Chief Matthew Verderosa, Wasserman Schultz fought to block access to the laptop so vehemently that she hired an outside law firm to argue constitutional issues, an exceedingly rare step.

The Awan breach on Capitol Hill gets murkier and leads to more questions
By Sara A. Carter

September 14, 2017 06:51 PM EDT

On April 6, at midnight, in a small room once used as a phone booth on the second floor of the Rayburn House Office Building, a Capitol Hill Police Officer doing his security rounds discovered evidence that will possibly reveal one of the the biggest security breaches involving House Democrats by the Awan family, a group of entrusted IT staffers, according to court records, police reports and news reports.

In the small room, the U.S. Capitol Police found a laptop computer registered to Rep. Debbie Wasserman-Schultz, a Florida Democrat and former DNC chairwoman. Wasserman-Schultz had been fighting authorities for months to return the laptop, that she once claimed was not hers.

What's more concerning, say senior House officials who spoke to Circa, is that Imran Awan was also allegedly transferring files - including documents and emails - of House Democrats to a secret server connected to the less secure House Democratic Caucus. The organization was then chaired by Rep. Xavier Becerra, who left Congress in January after being sworn in as the Attorney General of California.

The Daily Caller's Luke Rosiak was the first to break the story and last week Rosiak reported Wasserman Schultz's IT staffer, now indicted Awan, is believed to have planted her laptop in the Rayburn office room, along with his Pakistani ID card, copies of his driver’s license and his congressional ID badge. Awan also left behind letters to the U.S. attorney.

Awan apparently wanted the evidence discovered, according to a Capitol Hill police report on the matter.

...

The House official told Circa that Awan was also allegedly uploading "terabits of information to dropbox so he was possibly able to access the information even after he was banned from the network." The official said there is a need for a full congressional investigation on the matter.

"I think this may lead to information as to who really accessed the DNC server - everybody talks about Russia - but look at the access (Awan) had and potentially those emails could have been sold," the House official added.

Police informed Becerra that the server was the subject of an investigation and requested a copy of it. Authorities considered the false image they received to be interference in a criminal investigation, the senior official said.

...

"This could potentially be one of the largest security breaches involving members of Congress," said a former U.S. official, who is familiar with the investigation. The official spoke on background as they were not authorized to speak on the record.

"It has all the hallmarks of blackmail, spy craft - it's hard to believe that this is plain old bank fraud," the former U.S. official said. "There is enormous concerns that they accessed information that could potentially put congressional members at threat of being blackmailed."

...

Congressman Trent Franks, an Arizona Republican, believes Alvi may have cut an immunity deal. He said in a Fox News interview this week that he believes Alvi’s decision to return to the United States from Pakistan may be part of a larger immunity deal with federal authorities.

“I think you’re going to see some revelations that are going to be pretty profound,” said Franks. “The fact that this wife is coming back from Pakistan and willing to face charges, as it were, I think there is a good chance she is going to reach some type of immunity to tell a larger story here that is going to be pretty disturbing to the American people.”

He added, “I would just predict that this is going to be a very significant story and people should fasten their seat belts on this one.”

...
