Or a few things.

This beautiful young woman was 18 years old and hadn't had her period. She went to a GYN who tried to perform an exam....except something was wrong. The woman had no vaginal opening. Ultrasound showed she was born without a cervix or vagina. She's now reached her GoFundMe goal of $15,000 and is scheduling constructive surgery to give her some ability for sex. But think about it - she may never really enjoy it the way a lot of women might due to the lack of natural lubrication or nerves and all that....

A 22-year-old woman born without a vagina hopes to have a life-changing surgery that would allow her to lose her virginity to her boyfriend.

Kaylee Moats, from Gilbert, Arizona, suffers from Mayer Rokitansky Küster Hauser syndrome (MRKH) - which means she has no cervix, uterus or vaginal opening.

Since being diagnosed as a teenager, she has lived in fear of other people finding out about her bizarre condition and then mocking her.

But everything changed when she met boyfriend Robbie Limmer four months ago - who doesn't care about the lack of sex in their relationship.

Instead, he contributes $50 (£39) of his salary each month to fund her campaign for the cosmetic surgery to craft her a vaginal opening.

Miss Moats needs to raise $15,000 (£11,580) in total to undergo the procedure that will finally help her to 'feel like a woman'.

She wasn't diagnosed until she was a teenager?

Just crazy isn't it? How she could go that long. I don't get why at about age 13 her parents didn't get her examined for not having a period.

I'm surprised they didn't find this at birth. How did they verify her sex?

EDIT: Disregard, I just looked it up. Most of the irregularities are internal.

Her genitals appear normal. But moving the skin back shows only a recess where the vaginal opening would be.

I know, I just looked it up. You're right though, you'd think they would have had reason to discover this before she was 18.

Pretty wild article... I also find it hard to believe it took this long to find. You mean to tell me she never tried to... ahem... well, stimulate herself, and insert a finger, or something else? I don't think there's a person, male or female, alive that hasn't played with themselves, starting when they're young.

She had to have known.

she wouldn't have known had she not known she wasn't normal. That was her normal. She likely can have orgasms through clitoral stimulation.

I didn't understand a vagina wasnt on the front of a woman - in the same position as penis until I was 16. My parents forbade sex education in school and the topic was taboo.

Hmmm... IDK... she would have had to have been extremely isolated, because kids are all sharing about their sexcapades nowadays, talking sex, sexting, all the readily available porn anyone can access on the internet, even with a smart phone, and not menstruating like every other girl was around her... it just doesn't add up that she didn't realize she was normal until she was 18 years old, it seems highly unlikely.

when is mrkh diagnosed? (http://youngwomenshealth.org/2013/10/02/mrkh/)

the most common age for mrkh to be diagnosed is when a young woman is between 15 and 18 years old. That’s when a young woman is likely to see her health care provider because she hasn’t started her period. Some girls may find out at an earlier age or when they’re older
