My niece goes to school out in Monesson, Pennsylvania, which is about 45 minutes from Pittsburgh. My Dad is in NJ for a few weeks, and they went to also go visit my step Mom's uncle in Uniontown. My brother went to go see his daughter - so I went along and drove him as he brought her a new mattress, and has a tiny car.

So we all drove out together, then split up for a day and were all about an hour away. Of course, no way I wasn't going to check out Heinz Field!! Last I was there was in 1998 and it was still Three Rivers Stadium.

So I headed out there on Wednesday night, just so that I could see the new stadium and get some pics!! :gs:

We had to head north on rt. 51 and ended up going over the Ohio River on the West End Bridge. The stadium was already in sight off to the right!

Hopped on Reedsdale and drove down the ramp right up to the stadium!! I was literally within feet, but of course all was closed down. "PNC Park" was a few hundred yards away and there was a Pirates game about to start. Barely a car on the road, as the town shuts down when one of their teams is playing!

Hopped on 279 and this was from another angle..

Hopping on the 1st bridge which goes over the Allegheny River...

Then over the Monongahela River, and a shot from across the river. This is where you would pick up the ferry at "Station Square" which would take you right to the game! So in a quick 10-15 mins I had went over all "3 Rivers".

Alaska was Heaven on earth, this is a slice of Heaven in the east. :) :)

I'm definitely one of those that chases storms, to an extent anyway! I would love to be in the thick of it and watch the rain and winds - especially since all the other idiots are running away, I would be nitwit free!! :) :)

Well, me, Jimmy and a "friend" (bottle of Crown). The Shore Patrol threatened us if we didn't leave. We were like WTF you gonna' do? Sign us up for the Marines and send us to Oki?

I also got in trouble...

I saw a sweet keychain I liked, which was heavy duty, and was a locket as well. And in that Steelers place, they also had coffee mugs. They carried t-shirts (don't worry, no repeats of Myrtle Beach!), they also had zippered hoodies!! They had a couple of decals too. And even a small handful of pencils that one had to have. And maybe a few other misc things they had at "Buzzy Byron's". And guess what? They just happen to also accept American Express!! I simply added to my million dollar collection of Steelers stuff. :) :) :)

I did get the woman a souvenir though!!! A couple bottles of "Duke's Mayonnaise", which you can only get as you head south. The woman loves that stuff!! Ain't I just the most thoughtful??

Truth is, she was thrilled when she saw them!!

But for some odd reason, she didn't believe me when I told her:

"These steeler things are for you, but if you don't want them I'll take them!!"

Yeah, truth is though, in all seriousness, I get anxiety when I travel, bad sometimes. It wasn't bad bad here, but enough to where it screws up my head and I make dumb decisions. And then I barely slept and my stomach turned to mush. God got me back for being a dummy, didn't even wait for me to get home. :(

Glad you never went on deployment with me.

My Mom told me about how my uncle, her brother, used to get her fishing poles and music albums he liked!

I was a trooper when I was younger, and should have joined.

Now I get anxiety at the thought of being away from my 'security blanket'. Chaos gives me anxiety. That's why I loved being at Rick's cabin in Alaska, no chaos, no people, no cars, just peace!!! And fishing of course.

Anyway. Then anxiety always weakens my stomach. :(

Sorry about the anxiety, though you seemed pretty damned relaxed in AK! ;) In spite of the stomach, seems like you had a good time!
