Some will swear solely for a photo op, but his interaction in that photo speaks a lot to me. Like I had stated earlier, he's far from perfect. But he's out there trying. He's trying to show Texas that he cares and stands behind them. And his hugging with this little girl sets a great example for the nation.

Trump, First Lady Hug Children, Serve Meals to Harvey Victims

President Trump and first lady Melania Trump traveled to Houston on Saturday to visit the victims of Hurricane Harvey and assess the damage to the city. It was their second trip to Texas this week.

While there, Tump and Melania handed out meals to the victims and hugged and played with children at Houston’s NRG Center, which is serving as the city’s largest shelter.

“It has been a wonderful thing,” Trump said about his experience meeting with the children and helping serve food.

Many could be heard shouting “Thank you, sir,” while others waited to take selfies with the president.

The Trump administration sent lawmakers a request for an initial $7.9 billion in disaster relief funds.

Update: Trump amended the Texas disaster declaration on Saturday.

“Today, President Donald J. Trump made additional disaster assistance available to the State of Texas by authorizing an increase in the level of Federal funding for debris removal and emergency protective measures as a result of Hurricane Harvey.

“Under the President’s major disaster declaration issued for the state of Texas on August 25, 2017, Federal funding was made available for Public Assistance, Hazard Mitigation, and Other Needs Assistance at 75 percent Federal cost sharing of the total eligible costs.

“Today, President Trump increased cost sharing to 90 percent Federal funding for debris removal, including direct Federal assistance, and a 100 percent Federal funding for emergency protective measures, including direct Federal assistance, for 30 days from the start of the incident period, and then a 90 percent Federal cost share thereafter.”

Personally I think he should have just stayed in DC, announced the changes from there.

I don't think he's comfortable actually having to interact with the general public, he doesn't like to shake hands. I was watching him before they were leaving TX to go to LA. Some guy kept getting right by his ear-probably because of aircraft noise, but you could see that the President didn't like someone in his 'space.' I can relate to that.

He's not exactly Mr. Warmth or Geniality. He ran as and always has been a corporate person. I think it's just a distraction the press has started and he doesn't have to play along. This was a disaster, but only of Nature, not the government. He has no apologies required. They've just left him open to more criticism based upon his behavior, which really isn't needed.

He may not be comfy out there, nor look comfy, but he was there. I can only speak from the end of someone that was at the receiving end of some disasters. And while the nation may be on top of it and all being taken care of as best as possible, it's quite easy to feel forgotten, that no one is paying attention or helping you see through the horrible events. Seeing the mayor, the governor or the president of the USA, that brings people hope. It brings them some comfort feeling they aren't alone. It sounds crazy but it's true.

I watched some videos and you wouldn't know he has issues with wanting to shake hands or hug people, he did a fantastic job in trying to make the folks feel loved. Not with every last person mind you, looked like he took a break here or there! LOL But like I've been saying, he's been trying at least. I think he has heard criticism and wants to try and be out there with the people and show some heart.

Trump has always been vocal about his charity. Right or wrong, he has been.

The bold is kinda what I meant yesterday. Just seeing him there brings a level of hope to these folks that are scared and likely felt hopeless.

Trump Makes A Well-Received Trip Back To Texas

President Donald Trump went back to Texas Saturday and met with people displaced by Hurricane Harvey and upped the amount of federal support to the storm’s relief efforts.

The president visited Corpus Christi, Texas on Tuesday near where Harvey made landfall as a Category 4 storm. However, Trump was criticized for not meeting any victims and staying distant from the direct effects of the hurricane.

His Saturday visit seemed to be a rebuttal to these criticisms as he visited NRG Center in Houston to greet children and hand out food to people who were taking shelter there.

Trump later visited a church in Pearland, a suburban city in the Houston area. There he helped load supplies into residents’ cars. Comments from churchgoers and volunteers present were largely positive, according to reports.

One woman Elaine Ybarra, 41, told a reporter, “It’s quite humbling to have somebody of his stature come to this church.”

“Him being here and bringing global attention to everything that’s going on here, he brings up prayers from around the world,” Ybarra added, while Kenny Mercado, a volunteer, said Trump’s visit “brings spirit, brings hope.”

Trump is damned if he does or damned if he don't..There is absolutely zero integrity in the mainstream media..
They are no more than a corrupt, conniving third arm for the dem party and its Anti-American socialist agenda, IMHO.
Myself, I would not donate a nickel is it would save all of their rotten , dishonorable and stinking lives.

Yet we saw the exact opposite from these same ffing vermin when the obama was in charge.
I judge them as little more than maggots..
And I would gladly stand face to face with any of them and say that, === in fact, I wholeheartedly would welcome the chance to do so...--Tyr

IS EXACTLY WHAT TRUMP IS DOING to make them WHINE.
His Never Trumper's just do not know how to handle a GOOD PERSON, who is unlike them, in their constant misery, and pain with Trump Derangement Syndrome.
