Most are your typical celebrity liberal call for gun control, nothing new. But Piers Morgan then chimes in and states that Nevada has "permissive" gun laws, of course implying that's the issue.

Then I have to ask, a place like Chicago and their gun laws. Are they permissive, Piers? And being one of the toughest on gun laws in the nation, how has that worked out for them, Piers? I would imagine that the criminals, at the very least, are unable to get guns as a result, and therefore the gun crimes and murders in Chicago must be one of the lowest in the nation. :)

Celebrities Rush to Call for Gun Control After Las Vegas Mass Shooting

Celebrities took to social media Monday morning just hours after the tragic Las Vegas mass shooting to call for increased gun control measures.

Breitbart News reported that the attack occurred while country music singer Jason Aldean was playing and the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department identified the attacker as 64-year-old Stephen Craig Paddock. He opened fire on concert-goers from an elevated position–the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay Hotel. LVMPD SWAT members burst into Paddock’s room Sunday night and found him dead.

Michael Ian Black tweeted:

Simon also criticized the sale of semi-automatic rifles, describing them as “easily convertible to auto mode.”

Russell Simmons added:

I am sure the shooter would have heeded gun laws, had they been in place. those who shoot 400+people generally abide by all other laws.

None of them are celebrities in my opinion. Hollyweirdo's, and Democrats always have to resort to GUN CONTROL...until...somebody tries to take their ARMED BODYGUARDS away.
Besides. Anything that comes out of Hollywood, or California these days...always have a tint of Hypocrisy, and hate, based on pure, unquestionable...STUPIDITY.

I truly cannot stand this biotch, I really can't. She's already got enough attention thanks to her "talent", tours and albums, and yet she still goes out attention whoring left and right. Never talking about or posting about music, always some weird agenda.

A lot of dead folks and blood due to shootings in the prior 8 years when Obama was in office. And yes, I checked, not a single PEEP from her that he may have blood on his hands, none, nada. Liberal hack.

Lady Gaga: ‘Blood Is on the Hands’ of Lawmakers Who Don’t Pass Gun Control

Pop megastar Lady Gaga said “blood is on the hands of” Congress and President Donald Trump if they don’t unite and enact gun control legislation in the wake of the mass shooting at the Route 91 Harvest country music festival in Las Vegas Sunday night.
“This is terrorism plain and simple. Terror bares no race, gender or religion. Democrats & Republicans please unite now #guncontrol,” the “Poker Face” singer tweeted Monday.

Responding to a statement from House Speaker Paul Ryan, Gaga said, “blood is on the hands” of lawmakers who don’t pass increased gun control measures after the horrific shooting that claimed the lives of at least 50 people and injured more than 400 others.

We already have gun control and our government is in violation of the Second Amendment already. See how well it's worked? I think the Sergeant Major already pointed out the weapon(s) used is illegal. Stopped this guy, didn't it ....

I know, we can make ANOTHER law against criminals legally owning weapons. THAT ought to work

There is NEVER a good time to talk about further-restricting the rights of the citizens to acquire and keep and use weapons of any design. When I see people saying "Pass laws to keep this from happening again!" i think "That person is well-meaning but a fool."

Couple truths -

1: Evil people will kill as many people as they want until they are stopped.

2: Evil people will use whatever tools they have to conduct their killing.

3: 35,092 people died in motor-vehicle crashes in 2015. Thirty-five THOUSAND people died.

4: More than 40 people were killed, and hundreds injured within the past 12 months due to Vehicle Ramming attacks.

5: Nobody calls for tougher restrictions on who gets a car.

I don't get the left's reasoning though, it's just ass backwards.

They take a massive tragedy like in Vegas where people were SHOT, and then turn around and try and tell people that since there's nut cases out there shooting at you, we need to take all your guns away to make you SAFER. They want eliminate your capability to DEFEND yourself to make you SAFER.

Well that thought pattern is like... WHAAAAA... WTF are you whack jobs thinking?

But there is a difference between a small hand gun and what he used, no? Why didn't he use an anti aircraft gun, RPG or even a tank? Maybe because they weren't at his disposal? Why would that be?

They are clearly relevant and followups to your comments. I never grew up with guns so, clearly I don't understand the attachment or fascination outside call of duty video games. My question to many of you is why the 2nd amendment and attachment to guns seems to be pathological? It's like your brain shuts off and all debate is blasphemous because the founding fathers were "gods" these "american rights" are unquestionable, holy, natural law. Gun ownership is like a part of your being. It's an attribute. It's fundamental to who you are. Take it away and you take away part of you. Why is that? How did that come to be? How can some people live their entire lives without this attachment while others it's integral to who they are.

And think this logic over Pete ... the left/Dems want to disarm the public. Yet the left/Dems are the ones that support these mobs like BLM, and AntiFa where police are reluctant to act to protect the public. So, who's going to protect you? You? Ever negotiated with a mob that are more than happy they know you aren't armed? How about a criminal that knows you aren't armed? Maybe civilians should be able to buy those things. Some of those things are available anyway. www.armyjeeps.net - in fact, for sale right now is a 1997 German main battle tank. I WANT IT!

And the gunman could have afforded that tank :)

Maybe he didn't do it at all? Maybe Islamists or Black Lives Matter fuckers held him up and used his room, then fled before the cops arrived?

There's no difference in what he used and a hand-gun - except he would have had to be closer to be accurate. A pistol round - or hundreds of them - fired at 400 yards away would still cause damage to an area target like the group of concert-goers.

Your straw-man is weak.

And if none of those, then a homemade bomb, then a truck or car used as a battering ram, mass poisoning on the shelves, poisoning the water, airplanes....

Fact is, if scumbags want to kill, they will try and find ways to do so. Look at the isis scumbags, the overwhelming majority of their "attacks" have nothing to do with guns. What's the difference? They WANT to kill, that's it, it's that simple.

Hell, he COULD have used a plane instead of those things, get a small cessna and then kamikaze it into the crowd.

You take one away, and the next easiest thing to use will be up next, and then next, and then next. It's the PEOPLE, not the gun.

Seriously, think about this for a second. Suppose guns were gone today. In the next few decades, people go nuts and more nuts using vehicles as we have seen to kill tens of scores at a time. It gets 50x worse due to no more guns. It comes almost in epidemic levels due to wars and terrorism. Do we even remotely think about banning vehicles or similar? And if endless folks are being killed with them, then why not?

Do you think guns have killed or saved more people?
How many times have you used your gun to defend your life outside of military?

Our country is as great as it has, has the freedoms it does, and continues with all of the above - thanks to our brave men and women in the military and our weapons we use to defend our country.

And there's absolutely no reason in the world why those freedoms and protections shouldn't extend to homeowners and other citizens to preserve their own freedoms and protection.

petey. The size of the city, or town where you live has nothing to do with crime. At least that's what Democrats always say about cities they control, that have HIGHER murder, and gun crimes.
Because you feel safe walking down the street...probably means YOU HAVE A BETTER POLICE DEPARTMENT...not controlled by Democrat politicians.

You didn't want to defend yourself ? You didn't want to have the means of defending yourself ?

Seriously ?

if you yourself have a death wish ... who are you to insist that others share it, too ??

Cities and communities would have to be permanently swamped with police for there to be any realistic chance of any one of them being on hand to defend you as quickly as would be necessary. And, Pete, WHY do you insist upon having others risking THEIR lives, for YOURS ?

'Faster than a speeding bullet' Superman, that is ... because scenarios where police have to react THAT quickly are all too easily enacted.

You must be demanding, and expecting, that of your police. Because otherwise, Gunny's point is valid. Police cannot be expected to act as quickly as you seem to be suggesting.

So will they .. in the worst of ways ... at an increasing rate, surely.

But tell me. Where does this enthusiasm for demanding that others put themselves at risk to bail you out of situations, when you could be doing it yourself, maybe more efficiently and realistically, come from ?? Is this one example of the Left failing to recognise or appreciate, or value, the individual's worth .. that you think it right to turn people into cannon-fodder ?

Given the police's capacity to 'instantaneously' react to any and all situations, I might agree with your point of view .. but no such ability exists, or could (except in very exceptional circumstances). SO ... the time inevitably wasted, between an assailant's action and the police arriving to sort things out, means that said assailant, IF people can't defend themselves with guns, has free rein to kill or maim as many people as he can.

Who else but a Left winger type would so want to disempower people as to ensure this happens .. again and again ?

Who else but a Left winger type would so want to disempower people as to ensure this happens .. again and again ?Pete has quite the conundrum here. On one hand he expects some police mystic to show up and prevent a crime before it happens. On the other, he supports groups like BLM and football players protesting the police which makes the police reluctant to act all for fear of losing their entire lives and reputations like that cop in Ferguson did for stopping a criminal.

And he damned sure doesn't pay for the protection he expects.

The only two (or more) people on scene when a crime is taking place is the criminal and his victim(s). THEN is when the criminal can be stopped.

Kathianne
10-03-2017, 07:31 PM
The police can only respond after something has happened for the most part. Even with a 'sting' they have to have the 'criminal commit' to something illegal, i.e., exchanging money, drugs, porn, etc.

If Pete had called, they'd have taken a report on damage to property and likely some traffic offense-but with no license plate?

If it had been a bullet, they'd have called for an ambulance.
