View Full Version : Shopping Online is Easier?

True, you don't have to deal with traffic. Nor idiots playing pinball with their shopping carts in the store while their heathen children run wild through the aisles. No waiting in line behind 10 people who can't read "Express Lane" where they ALWAYS put the slowest and most mentally challenged cashier.

Instead, you can fill in enough personal info on an e-form to ensure you're going to get more bullshit e-mail than you get bulk rate mail at home. You can fill out all of this info that will invariably be incorrect, at which time you have to remember to go put your acct suffix and whatever in each time you hit enter and it's rejected.

THEN you can wait for this "prize" you paid for 2 days shipping to show up the following week. Only to discover they sent the wrong sh*t, left something out, or their product doesn't use the same sizing you are used to and you need a crow bar to get the crap on.

MUCH better than tooling over to the mall. Or not.

Me too! Around here, there are only 2 places to buy clothes, Walmart and Goodwill. I suppose I could have gone to one of the special shops in Sedona, but for some reason paying over $300 on a dress is not in my plans.

I actually had to buy my mother-of-the-groom dress via Amazon, it was on sale. I've gone down several sizes, wasn't sure what to buy. So I ordered 2, tried both on and happily it was the smaller. ;)

For related reasons, I needed to get some jeans and tops. I did the same-as women's sizes do not mean that with one item, the same size will work for another. While the dress was an 8, needed 6 for jeans. Shoes and the dress for the rehearsal I was more certain of, they fit. Jewelry also worked. ;)

Everything came when promised, the return was just putting it into the bag it came in, printed out return label, dropped off at UPS office. No problem.

Have Amazon prime so very rarely pay for shipping and have been very satisfied with products so far. I hate shopping when I need to have something. But I love to Window Shop.

This explains to a large extent why we're so simpatico. ;) I like walking and looking, but once inside stores not so much.

That's funny- I don't like window shopping at all. If I can't or won't buy, I'm not interested in looking!

That's funny- don't let me window shopping at all. If I can't or won't buy, I'm not interested in looking!

Honestly, even when $$ wasn't an issue, I don't like shopping. When looking for wedding I just went to Amazon and searched: mother of the groom dresses. It worked. LOL! Once I settled on dress, looked for shoes often bought with. Worked. Same with jewelry and purse. I know, sad. ;)

Pretty much Christmas drove me nuts regarding shopping, usually finished in about 3 hours back when. Now I can just look year round and add to my lists. Get notifications when on sale or price change. Works for me.

got to admit I have been pleasantly surprised.....
We wanted a new patio table.......went everywhere around here and couldn't find what I was looking for......saw one on Wayfair........bought it with trepidation.......
sure enough, when it arrived it had two dents, one on the edge and one right in the middle......so I took pictures and emailed them......within an hour I got a response......it said "we have shipped a replacement. Please dispose of the one you have in anyway you please or donate it to charity".....

I'm a big one for Amazon and ebay myself. I have an Amazon Store Card and have been very happy shopping on there. When you live out in little Podunk like I do and there are no huge department stores aside from a Walmart super center, which hardly ever has the exact item you're looking for because they want to push the made in china crap at you, the alternative is shop online. The UPS and FedEx drivers know my place by heart. They even walk around back and drop the stuff off in my back porch, and drive the bigger stuff up my driveway right to the front of the shop. I'd be so sunk without online shopping, I love it.

Ordering online is definitely easier, and in fact, maybe too easy!

Then again, supposedly - being bipolar and hypomanic, they say that reckless spending habits and what not are a part of the deal/

When you have 25 knives over the years arrive at your home in Amazon boxes... endless clothing... fishing supplies... all my OTC medications... Way too many Steelers items & then a ton of shit I truly don't need!! Like endless coffee mugs. How many coffee mugs does a man really need? And then a continually complain that there's no room in our cabinets. Incense - I have enough to burn that crap for the next 40 years. I have like 25 pairs of headphones. In my defense, I broke like 10 pairs of them, so I had to replace a few. Cat mice! Nero LOVES to play with his little mice. Nothing special, no catnip, no bells, just tiny little mice. But he has, no lie, at least about 200 of them now! Little bastard hides them under every piece of furniture in the house, under the stove and I think he may eat some! Oh, and skeletons!!

Had a whole collection of crap the hurricane victims got because I couldn't wear any of it. Sizes don't just differ by manufacturer but by style from the same manufacturers at time. I had to start writing down what I wear depending on who made it. I just bite the bullet and try the crap on at the store which sucks because I hate being around people.

I may buy Christmas crap online. Then I just have to supply the receipt and someone else can go exchange it

Abbey. Truth is, the Internet, and everything being online now; has actually hurt society in general. Taking the needs, or inspiration for young people to even bother READING A BOOK today.
The lure is always...SOMETHING FREE. Until somebody figures out....the FREE LUNCH isn't really Free anymore. Just TWO more of my cents.

Did you hear about the old man who spent $100.00 online, with EBAY?

His wife was really pissed when she found out how much he spent.

He sent away for a New Guaranteed Penis Enlarger, and waited three days for delivery.

The doorbell rang, the Mailman held a small package, and handed it to his wife at the door.

She didn't know what he ordered, called him, and he quickly opened the small package hoping to make his wife....REALLY, REALLY HAPPY.

Sadly...after tearing off the paper, and the Bubble Wrap. His wife screamed, and laughed at him as he held the NEW......

SCROLL DOWN....

Why I love Amazon!

Ok, I was spitting nails a bit ago. I got an email from them a week ago. It said, 'We credited you for returns we did not receive, unless they are returned we will debit your acct.' Since D's wedding, they've 'credited, then debited, then credited', ad nauseum. At first I 'chatted' with rep, inevitably it resulted in their having to call me. It's been 3 or 4 times. Today they debited my checking acct $80 some dollars. I called, ready to do battle! Meanwhile, the 'gift card, which should have been $0., is up to over $125. I ordered two things a couple weeks ago, an instant read thermometer and ink for my printer, $40-which they used my 'gift card' for, which should have been 0, as I said.

I make it a practice not to 'go off' on the person on the phone, they didn't 'cause' the problem, I just want them to fix it. So I explained the problem, the repeated time consuming chats and phone calls. The reassurances that it would be 'straightened out.'

As always, the person was very nice, apologetic, reassuring-they really do have excellent phone staff.

They are crediting my debit-it will take 3-5 days though. :( I said, 'Ok, that's normal. Please just get it processed ASAP and get that gift card amount back to Amazon, I need to know that is gone, so if I buy something, I know the debit amount is correct. I just want to see a credit for the returns to my debit account, not a gift card! The ink and thermometer should be debited, but I want to be able to see those on my checking account."

She responded, "Thank you for being patient and a loyal Amazon shopper. You're debit card will be credited within 3-5 days. Keep the gift card, use it for the holidays or for whatever you like.'

So, I've got over $125 gift card, no charges for ink and thermometer, and $80 some credit on my debit!

Yeah, wish it hadn't happened, but still is a great apology!

Awesome... about the adding money back to your account or debit card, PayPal now has a deal that for $.25 it can be "instant," otherwise now it's just a day, like 12 to 24 hours. I don't know why Amazon should be any different at this point. I returned an adapter deal that didn't work right and they refunded me, and I think it went pretty quick. So 3 to 5 days, I think it should be quicker now.

Any 'credit' I've had from any store has taken 3-5 days. It's like if you write a check, boom it's debited. Deposit a check, at least a couple of days. When all is said and done, I'm ahead over $160. That's not bad. I mean if they'd said, "Here's $10, we're sorry for the problems," I'd have been glad. LOL! AS LONG AS it is fixed for good. ;)

That was an awesome deal, and I agree, I love Amazon.

But checks are totally different than a debit or credit card. Checks use old bank routing numbers and account numbers, paper, etc, but debit and credit cards are completely different with their own one number for everything, usually through VISA or Discover, whatever, and just with increased ways to improve efficiency, (sometimes that i after e except after c doesn't apply), money transfers can be instant. I do see how a "credit" can take longer though, simply by virtue of probably having to clear the proper channels through "people," the transfer of credit is probably very quick.

Yeah you really must have sweet talked them to get a deal like you got... ... ;)

I didn't have to do anything. All I asked for was to get my money back in acct and take their gift card money back. The only thing I said is this the first time I'd had an ongoing problem with Amazon. I mentioned how much time I'd spent in the past month trying to get this to stop. It was sweet.

Today I saw on tracking that it will be delivered on Thursday. I went to chat and asked why? Again and apology and a 'one month extension on Prime.' Pretty nice, that's almost as much as the item. I've had a "Kathy moment" with Amazon. The PS4 Pro I had ordered and received from Amazon that arrived and had been opened and both outside and inside boxes damaged, I did return that to Amazon immediately. The prior total from the order had been $909, and I was expecting a $421 refund. Well I received an email from Amazon Prime saying they had credited my account with the refund so I went online to check, and to my surprise instead of my new total being $488 as I was expecting, it's $288. For some reason unknown to me Amazon knocked off an extra $200... don't ask me... IDK.

Yup, it seems you have to 'let them know' that you have an issue. They really go out of their way, IMO. I wasn't asking for all they gave me regarding the gift card; nor this time-just wanted to know when it was coming.

It's normally a $36 item, I got it for $9 and some change. Now over $8 credit for month of Prime. Woot!

Amazon and Prime is very addictive for me, and I already have an addictive personality. And with my bipolar, it's also known to have bad spending habits and spending sprees.

Needless to say, it's looking like a nice Christmas for everyone already!! :)

But I have been buying so much more online this year, and much much less in person. With Amazon, I purposely choose out all of the prime of course, and depending on the product, how badly I need it, and the shipping costs, I will sometimes even opt for overnight shipping.

And the boxes, them brown little suckers and their black and blue labels. I love to see them arrive on my porch!! It's like Christmas for me every other day!

I've been playing with mine again. I should be subbing starting next week, hoping to find a new place to live in a couple weeks. Should be able to cook more in my own place. ;) Right now I'm making rice, in the new rice cooker. The thing even has a steamer basket, so I could have broccoli and salmon in there, chugging away with the rice. LOL!

Ok, I'm loving this little sucker. I'm a better than good cook, but always seem to have problems with rice, either too much liquid or the rice gets clumpy. I love good rice, just not mine most of the time. It works better in a microwave for me, but don't have one here. Rice cooker to the rescue!

You measure the liquid and rice, add a touch of salt, butter or oil. Plug it in and hit 'start.' When the liquid is absorbed, it turns itself to warm. Let it sit for 10-15 minutes. Genius.

Other than an occasional dinner out or the week of Derek's wedding, I've been on pretty strict diet since last February. I gained weight while being laid up with shoulder and just was being a depressed pig. Now with 40 lbs off and back to where I usually am, I'm going to be much more careful. I am sick though of veggies and hummus or just dressing. Salads have gotten boring. I love chicken and fish, but I needed something. Rice makes all of those better. LOL!

I DO have to get my running shoes online. For some reason, they put only the fruity colors in the store, and usually don't carry the high-end shoes. Yes, I have to wear high-end, quality running shoes. And I wear them in normal colors. I went out on a ledge and got some grey ones that had orange soles

They also don't tend to carry 11EE in stores.

And not making fun Kathianne , but I make my rice in a saucepan :) I didn't even know they made special rice cookers. The DO have a stupid little gizmo for Ramen noodles that doesn't work  (I cook those in a saucepan too :) )

As I said, 'rice has always been my nemesis.' Most of the time the microwave addressed my handicap regarding rice, but there isn't one here and the landlady has a phobia regarding. When I saw it reduced from nearly $40 to $9 something, grabbed it. Now if I subtract the one month of Prime, it's like $2 and no worries! LOL!
