View Full Version : Posting Youtube videos and embedding code

Some folks have been going to Youtube to share a video, and then using the share feature or the embed code.

Vbulletin can be a little overprotective of itself at times, and that's why sometimes people will make a post, and then the thread kind of dies.

2 things, VERY IMPORTANT.

1 - Youtube video posting. I have a few announcements about how to post them, but that's no ones fault as people won't be reading announcements prior to posting a speech or music video.

But the PROPER way: Just simply copy the URL link address of whatever it is you're listening to. Then come back here, and click on the VIDEO CLIP icon, and then paste the URL link into that box and submit. That's it, when you submit the post, the video will now appear.

2 - Copying ENTIRE pages and pasting them into a post here. Colors, highlights, larger letters and all that other jazz. These are "attributes". If you were to look into the "code" of such a post, you will see all kinds of colons, semicolons, weird lettering and brackets and what not. The SITE sees this as bad shit, and may stop the post right there for protection. I know this is quicker and easier at times, but it leads to bad results all the way around. You either get a weird looking post, or the board gets screwed up as you see.

Youtube Video Posting (I will post again something much better later).

Copy the URL of the page you are on. In this case, I am doing a music video, and at the very very top of Youtube it shows me:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X4bgXH3sJ2Q

This won't post a video here, it will just be a link. You need to use the video icon for the youtube video to appear.

This is a crappy image, but the red crappy circle shows the "Video Icon" that I speak of. You need to click on this icon, and then PASTE the URL link inside of here.

So you took that URL, placed it in the video icon, and then enter. DONE!

------------------------

Now about copying/pasting entire pages from other sites to here. And how I do it to make it easiest.

I ALWAYS just keep a blank document.txt on my desktop, that's the name by default when you create a txt file. So now, whenever you visit any site or page, and you want to copy something here.

Copy a LARGE amount or any amount you want. Copy it and paste it directly into that TEXT document you created. It will now simply be all plain text, as the text editor ONLY allows for that and won't copy over any attributes. Now simply copy the contents of that TEXT file you have, and paste it right back into your post here. That simple, hit enter and you're done! You made the post, but the text file stripped out all the attributes!

---

Any questions??

I'll post this every now and again as a reminder. The board isn't perfect by any means, and I try and keep up with things like this as they arise.

Will do! I didn't realize it was overrunning the system. Count on me. Thanks.

To now make it easier in posting Youtube videos - you only need to copy the URL of the video at the VERY TOP of the page you are on, paste that link into a post and submit. The board will convert it into a video when you submit. :)
