I agree. Now the cousin that was accused of murdering that girl, well that was a big deal. I'm not saying that rape or domestic violence aren't big crimes, they are not national news in normal circumstances. IF the politician is involved, yeah, report on it.

Winters are brutal in Alaska, and with very short days and the long cold nights, drinking and violence are more common. Then add in someone who has PTSD from combat and you've really got the potential for a problem, like the Palin kid...

I think this is a really sad case. Especially when you real the inside details. No one should have to struggle with depression, substance/alcohol abuse and PTSD in public. Conservative or not, he deserves better. :(

Yes and no... I agree with you but then... if you think he's out of his mind on barbiturates and booze and he's armed and dangerous... what ya gonna do, shoot your own kid if that's the case, or let the cops intervene? Cops usually are trained in how to defuse a situation, to deescalate it. Could be the difference in people getting shot and dying or not.
