My New Years Resolutions:

1) To try and more kind to our board trolls like Gravy, and take him off ignore
2) To try and more tolerant of our boards wise asses like del
3) Quit Smoking, because I only do it occasionally anyway, there's no reason to continue
4) To double my time spent out in the shop and try and create more metal art that I can sell
5) To eat better healthier meals
6) To look into investments, possibly buy an income property or business
7) To double down on exercising
8) ....


Can't think of anything else right at the moment, but there's amply opportunity to add to it...

But if I have to. I resolve to try and remain healthy, stubborn, and keep smiling to make it until my wife and I get to enjoy our 50th Wedding Anniversary in 2019. Which will also be my Mother-in-Law's 100th birthday (hopefully). She is currently in a full time Convalescent Nursing Home, suffering from the growing extremes of Alzheimer's. She has gotten to the point where she doesn't remember my wife's name, and all of the grandkids, and great grandkids (41 of them) are strangers as well.

If for nothing else. I resolve to remain a REAL PAIN IN THE ASS to as many liberals as I can. The benefits of growing Old...WISELY.:laugh:

I think 2018 is going to be a great year. I plan to just double down on everything I'm doing. I had a busy year last year and spent a bunch of money on shop renovation, so this year I plan on concentrating on ways to make money not spend it. I fabricate a lot of things for myself and friends that I surely could be doing to sell and make a nice chunk of change... so that's the plan. Would be awesome to take a nice bite out of my mortgage. Can't imagine what I'd do if all my money wasn't going for bills. I might even find out where Darin is at in Europe and go over and visit him, or get real crazy and visit one of those rooskies that visit the board... :laugh:

The latest creation... threw this together in a day, an underhoist support... $70 on Amazon, instead built from metal stock I have around the shop. Needs finishing touches and paint... I need to start building this stuff to sell, by my design or custom order...

I work with metal, pard, anything and everything. I first production welded when I was 19 making mufflers for small engines. Later I production welded for this big place making farm trailers of every type. Plus I did lots of welding for a large machine shop fabricating all kinds of things from work benches to industrial light fixtures, then at the prison I worked at I did more, welded every day. I just like it. Working with metal is more forgiving than wood because even if you mess something up, you can just cut it up/off/out and redo it.

But if you have something in mind just let me know. If I can find a picture of it, I can build it, and if there is none then I just use my own experience and skill. I have a nice Lincoln wire welder and a Century stick welder, plus a Smith torch set that I could braze with but that's really old school. I don't throw ANY metal away, because I can always use it for something, plus I buy dimensional steel when needed, and buy piles and such of steel at auctions.

I'm sure I could build some facsimile of that, and it would take forever. Lots of polished metal there, if not chroming, lights so there's wiring. I'd be expecting in the thousands to sell it.
