In Soviet Russia, if you said you were a Christian and loved Jesus, the Bolsheviks would judge you insane and throw you in a gulag to rot, they'd only let you out if you said you loved Marx. Solzhenitsyn wrote about these things in "Gulag Archipelago". Putin is a Bolshevik but he knows the Russian people want Jesus Christ not Bolsheviks. I'm surprised he didn't burst into flames when taking Communion Eucharist, good thing he was wet at the time. One day Russia will have a Christian leader, then Russia and the United States will join as allies to rule the world in real peace, not the Hebrew and Roman version of peace, which really means "order in warfare" not "absence in warfare". When that happens all the Bolsheviks in Russia and the United States will be summarily executed and all the Muslims will be driven from the face of the Earth, just as Almighty God commands.

You look funny when you start speaking about life in Soviet Russia knowing nothing about it. Especially to me, who was born and grew up in the USSR as well as my parents. I bet that you have never been to Russia. You do not even know that the Russian Orthodox Church continued to work in the Nazi-occupied territories of the USSR during the War. So, your awareness of this subject is far from reality, as that of the bulk of Americans.:laugh::laugh:

I suggest you read Solzhenitsyn's "Gulag Archipelago" which was banned by your Bolshevik leaders. Christians were persecuted for over 70 years during the Soviet Era, they were treated as criminals by the state and had to go underground. As for the Russian Orthodox Church, they were used as pawns by the state, but their liturgy was closely scrutinized and their priests were murdered if they ever dared speak against the state.

The Soviets murdered millions of White Christians in the Ukraine in the 1930s. They're being armed today by the West so they won't get fooled again.

I studied the Russian language and history for four years in high school and regularly read Pravda, which reads a lot like CNN and US Today, that's no joke. I'd the opportunity to hear people who defected from Soviet Union speak at events, to hear of Bolshevik atrocities and malevolence against Russians who simply wanted to be left alone, to pursue their own conscience and economy. No, they couldn't and were instead treated like animals, because that's how Bolsheviks saw Russian citizens, as mere chattel beings.

My best friend in high school, his dad was a top engineer who barely escaped Tito, the dad's friends didn't escape and were murdered by the communists. My high school friend went on to become an attorney expert in international law and trade, he helped broker the peace deal in Kosovo.

Bolshevik Communism murdered hundreds of millions of White Christians, so take your Soviet Life and cram it.

Don't force me laughing, American! I repeat once again - YOU KNOW NOTHING about the subject you are trying to speak about. As to "Gulag Archipelago". First, I've read it. Second there WERE NO Bolsheviks that time. Third you don't know the whole background of Solzhenitsyn's appearance as a writer:
" ...In those years there was the peak of Khrushchev's political and organizational slush, called the "thaw". But, nevertheless, something was not enough for Nikita. There was not enough, it turns out, some new scribbler and his writings on the main topic: about the suffering of the millions imprisoned in Stalin's camps, which Khrushchev needed to support the Khrushchev campaign that had collapsed by that time "to fight the cult of the personality of Stalin." ..."
And the forth - there was so much lie in his novel, that it shocked those, who were in Gulag that time.
As to Church in Soviet time, in 60-s-70-s, the processions for Easter were very popular and Easter was celebrated all over Russia. So, as Harris said in immortal "Three men in a boat" - "В сад!" You confirmed another time that you have NO clue about reality in Russia, Soviet and (I think) modern.

It is informative and has pics some like to look at. I'm sure with your self-professed keen intellect and knowledge will have noted such.

So leave the commie's "Happy Baptism Day Jesus" thread alone. You have an entire board full of subforums where your infinite knowledge of his life in Russia would be more suited.

Appreciate the cooperation.

Balu, about what I said before, I didn't mean anything personal against you, I hope you understand, I was speaking against Bolsheviks and the Soviet Union, not the Russian people.

You're correct, Americans were taught to hate the Soviet Union and even the Russian people, that's the sad part, because the Russian people were victims of Marx, Engels, Lenin and their Bolshevik brethren in the soviet.

And now in the United States, we're being persecuted daily by Bolsheviks, in the entertainment industry, in the media, in the government. It doesn't take a genius to see that the United States has become sovietized and balkanized. And I honestly believe that daily experience of the average American citizen is far more oppressive than anything experienced by Russian citizens in the Soviet Union.

And take the politician Senator Bernie Sanders, trained in the 60s as a die hard Bolshevik, now beloved by American youth, they see him as a benevolent grandfather, the country's that brainwashed. He says, "I'm not a Socialist, I'm a Social Democrat." Nonsense. In reality, if Bernie Sanders had his way, he'd imprison every White Christian in the United States of America in slave labor camps, I believe he's that malevolent.

I'm still hopeful that the United States and Russia will unite and rule the world, and that the Greek and Russian Orthodox Churches put an end to Roman dominance in the Christian culture.

I don't give a crap about Balu and agree with your assessment of him. SO much so he placed me on ignore before Jim made me a mod so it still works:laugh:

He likes to chit-chat with some here and they him off the political grid. That's their choice. If he doesn't want to come out and play with the big boys because frankly he was getting slammed so hard he resembled a thin penny no reason to run him off.

Along with Black Diamond, I was under the impression that you'd left.

No matter.

I've never visited Russia, and it's highly unlikely that I ever will. This, though, for my part, doesn't disqualify me from not only having opinions about its political leaders (and social and political state) but also possessing good reason to hold views that I do.

Certain facts are known ... which I think you will summarily reject, because you'd prefer that others didn't give them credence. You have some idea of what I'm referring to, from our past discussions. To refresh your memory, on just two subjects: one, the abysmally low wages most of your people earn, which they must find (even if they don't fully know it !) extremely, repressively, limiting to their lives.

The other, which we've discussed before, is the way Ukraine has been treated. In the more distant past, under Stalin, under Stalin's starvation programme. More recently, with Ukraine locked in an enmity-based 'relationship' involving Ukraine's very long-term future as a proud and independent nation, one wishing to remove itself from all forms of domination from Russia, economic and others.

You dismiss my understanding of these matters, despite the fact that my understanding is based upon well-established truth. This you've dismissed as propaganda in the past, despite its TRUTH.

You do so out of convenience and preference, because you support those powers in your country that lead you. This leadership allows for no free thinking on the subjects I've outlined.

Well ... for myself, I'd rather not be controlled by propaganda. Truth MATTERS. I invite you, now that you've returned, to open your mind to it.

In that spirit ... I welcome your return, and hope it'll herald a willingness to learn truths which, until now, you've not been receptive to.

We shall see, Balu. Further such discussions are better pursued outside of this section of the forum. I will welcome them, if or when they occur.

I thought you left.

I am glad that, my new friend, Balu is back. He offers a different view of the world and when not attacked has always commented in a decent and civil way.
I have always been interested in foreign nations/their cultures /histories, especially Russia, China, Australia, England and France...
I get it that, some here think differently but I will treat Balu as a friend-exactly same way I do them, -as I respect my friends and would/will always defend my friends, except when I see they are in the wrong.
This I've done my entire life and have suffered greatly for it,but its one of my core principles that I simply can not ever break nor would I ever want to my friend.
As I consider you my friend as well....
So, I WILL TAKE ANY HEAT GIVEN ME FOR MY TAKING THIS STAND..
I HOPE YOU UNDERSTAND AND DO NOT TAKE THIS AS BEING WRITTEN IN ANY WAY OTHER THAN MY WRITING TO ANOTHER FRIEND,YOU.. --Tyr

My Dear Friend Robert,
Thank you for your kind words and understanding very close to mine.
As to my return that is not true in terms of my previous presence.
Well, in any case, I still am glad to have an opportunity to see reaction and evaluation of of ordinary Americans of current events in your country.
From my side would occasionally provide info about some traditional and cultural peculiarities of Russia with NO involvement of political questions.
P.S.
Thank you for your poems ans sonnets again. Keep on adoring them with my grand daughter who, thanks to them greatly improved her English. http://www.kolobok.us/smiles/standart/friends.gif

Tyr ... Balu knows what his own people deign to tell him (.. and since that's true, I have a degree of sympathy for his ill-understood plight). Do you believe that Russia exercises no censorship in its news feeds, doesn't disseminate reports designed to paint the Government regime there in the best light ?

I am happy that Balu is here, IF he's willing to listen to what contributors here tell him, or to even consider such material. For my part, I'd prefer that he was more receptive to what I tell him than was true the last time around.

Time - and other, more appropriate threads than this - will determine how this plays out.
