The quake struck 155 miles south east of Chiniak on the southern Alaskan coast.

The tsunami warning is in place across the western coast of the US, from Alaska down to the California-Mexico border.

Hawaii and parts of Canada have also been issued with tsunami alerts.

Anchorage is just fine. No tsunamis developed anywhere in AK and they called off the alert at 4am this morning.

I saw that at 5 a.m. Pacific Time. The strike-slip quake is less likely to generate a tsunami.
But I stayed up all night monitoring message traffic.

I was not sure if I would have to pack up the cat, checkbook, some clothes, shut off power,
and beat feet to higher ground.:cool:
