Imagine term limits, or taking control of illegal immigration, or national ID voter laws, or spending, or whatever... if you think our government is corrupt and out of control, sign the petition... I did...

Leery of that.

We do need some continuity on Capitol Hill.

We don't need some fly-by-night ignorant fools taking seats in the Congress.

Bad enough Democrats already foist those ignorant fools.

Close examining of motives in that group is warranted.

The motives are clear...

Petition your state legislator

Almost everyone knows that our federal government is on a dangerous course. The unsustainable debt combined with crushing regulations on states and businesses is a recipe for disaster.

What is less known is that the Founders gave state legislatures the power to act as a final check on abuses of power by Washington, DC. Article V of the U.S. Constitution authorizes the state legislatures to call a convention for proposing needed amendments to the Constitution. This process does not require the consent of the federal government in Washington, DC.

I support the Convention of States Project; a national effort to call a convention under Article V of the United States Constitution, restricted to proposing amendments that will impose fiscal restraints on the federal government, limit its power and jurisdiction, and impose term limits on its officials and members of Congress.

I want our state to be one of the necessary 34 states to pass a resolution calling for this kind of Article V Convention. You can find a copy of the model resolution and the Handbook for Legislators and Citizens (which explains the process and answers many questions) here:

https://conventionofstates.com/handbook_pdf

I ask that you support the Convention of States Project and consider becoming a co-sponsor of the resolution. Please respond to my request by informing the national COS team of your position, or sending them any questions you may have:

info@conventionofstates.com or (540) 441-7227.

Thank you so much for your service to the people of our district.

Respectfully, [Your Name]

The Democrats have been insisting on this since George W. Bush BEAT Al Gore in 2000.

If we allow the Dems to do anything like this. We can all say goodbye to the Constitution.

Consider where all of the POWER is. Both Coasts..California, and New York.

They have the really high numbers of ELECTORAL College votes (which they hate when they lose) But...if they had the Power with either House of Congress....The Senate, or House of Reps.

I am almost certain...it would be like handing government over to PETEY, and GABBY.

They would try to eliminate the 1st amendment, and the 2nd Amendment....then, stand behind the 5th Amendment by Insisting that explaining their reasons MIGHT INCRIMINATE THEM.

You're reading more into it than there is. The convention would be made up of conservatives, and the purpose would be to propose limits on government spending and power, and term limits, that's all.

Didn't you guys read it?

High Plains. IF, and only IF such a convention was ONLY conservatives IT WOULD PROBABLY not pass the Smell test of the Supreme Court. Any actions directed toward adopting Constitutional changes in amendments would need to be BI-PARTISAN in order to be effective.

The CONGRESS, as a whole has the sole power of Spending, and Term limits.

On it's face, it sounds like a great idea, and many would probably agree. But...the Constitution comes first.

This is Article V of the Constitution, and a convention of states takes 34 states total, and those 34 states have to all agree on what is to be proposed, and they don't need the permission of congress or the SC to do it. You only need the 34 states. All would have to be in agreement on the purpose or it wouldn't happen, so it's not some kind of free for all.

And it will probably never happen. But when what we have for a government is so corrupt, so bloated, so out of control, how could a convention of states to try and clean it up be any worse than just letting them continue on with their good ole boys club in Washington lining their pockets and fleecing the people while being some of the most corrupt POS on the planet?

No, indeed! ANYTHING can happen at a convention of states.

Gun grabbing and turning us into Britain where the criminals and Muslims rule everything is the very first thing sure to happen, IMO.

True, I would like an age limit in Congress and the USSC, and cleaning up immigrations and stopping most of it, and certainly a National ID voter law. Deficit reduction. Balanced budget!!! Definitely a balanced budget.

But until the right controls a lot more of this country than we do now, because we're still baffled and suppressed by the awful leftists, it would just be a gun-grabbers' convention, IMO.

Not exactly........ oops.

I assumed you were referring to a Constitutional Convention. That is where the danger lies.

Maybe the other would be good.

I will agree to a convention...AFTER.....we get rid of all of the known RINO's in Congress.

CORRECT. And as long as McCain is around...NOTHING will change even if there is a convention of states. UNLESS...all FIFTY are represented in a Non-Partisan way. The CAN KEEPS GETTING KICKED DOWN THE ROAD....Otherwise...We still FOLLOW THE MONEY.
