"Leaked audio recordings allegedly from Russian mercenaries in Syria captured deep lament and humiliation over a battle in early February where US forces killed as many as 300 Russians.

The audio tapes come from Polygraph.info, which receives funding from the US government. The voices in the audio corroborate reports from Reuters and Bloomberg that say hundreds of Russians died in a mismatched battle.

They also lament Russia denying the clash, and contradict statements from Russia's Foreign Ministry.

They may have their ability to "maintain deniability for acts of war", but can't deny audio of admitting to getting your asses kicked by the USA.

'They beat our a--es': Russian mercenaries talk about humiliating defeat by US in reportedly leaked audio

-Leaked audio recordings said to be of Russian mercenaries in Syria capture expressions of lament and humiliation over a battle in early February involving US forces and Russian nationals.

-The audio tapes were published by Polygraph.info, a fact-checking website produced by news organizations that receive funding from the US government.

-The audio — which appears to corroborate reports from Reuters and Bloomberg that say hundreds of Russians died or were wounded in a mismatched battle — also seems to contradict statements from Russia's Foreign Ministry.

Leaked audio recordings said to be of Russian mercenaries in Syria capture expressions of lament and humiliation over a battle in early February involving US forces and Russian nationals.

Published by Polygraph.info — a fact-checking website produced by Voice of America and Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty, news organizations that receive funding from the US government — the audio recordings paint a picture of Russian mercenaries essentially sent to die in an ill-conceived advance on a US-held position in Syria. Polygraph says the audio recordings are from a source close to the Kremlin.

The Pentagon has described the attack as "unprovoked" and started by forces loyal to the Syrian government that crossed over the Euphrates River, which functions as a border between US-backed troops and Russian-backed ones.

The Pentagon says that about 500 men began to fire on the position and that the US responded with air power and artillery strikes. The audio from Polygraph seems to confirm that while giving some insight into the feelings of the defeated forces.

Also apparent in the audio is displeasure with how Russia has responded to the situation. Initially, Russia denied that its citizens took part in the clash. Later, a representative said five may have died. Last week, Russia's Foreign Ministry said in a statement that the fight left "several dozen wounded" and that some had died.

The audio recordings, in which voices can be heard saying 200 people died "right away," appear to back up reports from Reuters, Bloomberg, and the Pentagon that roughly 100 — if not more— Russians died in the fight. Reuters has cited sources as saying the advance's purpose was to test the US's response.

Russia is thought to use military contractors in Syria rather than its military — experts speculate it's to maintain deniability for acts of war and conceal the true cost of fighting from the Russian people. The Washington Post reported last week that US intelligence reports with intercepted communications showed that a close ally of Russian President Vladimir Putin told a senior Syrian official he "secured permission" from the Kremlin before the advance on the US forces.

.....

Here are the translated transcripts from Polygraph:

First clip:

"The reports that are on TV about ... well, you know, about Syria and the 25 people that are wounded there from the Syrian f--- army and — well ... to make it short, we've had our asses f--- kicked. So one squadron f--- lost 200 people ... right away, another one lost 10 people ... and I don't know about the third squadron, but it got torn up pretty badly, too ... So three squadrons took a beating ... The Yankees attacked ... first they blasted the f--- out of us by artillery, and then they took four helicopters up and pushed us in a f--- merry-go-round with heavy caliber machine guns ... They were all shelling the holy f--- out of it, and our guys didn't have anything besides the assault rifles ... nothing at all, not even mentioning shoulder-fired SAMs or anything like that ... So they tore us to pieces for sure, put us through hell, and the Yankees knew for sure that the Russians were coming, that it was us, f--- Russians ... Our guys were going to commandeer an oil refinery, and the Yankees were holding it ... We got our f--- asses beat rough, my men called me ... They're there drinking now ... many have gone missing ... it's a total f--- up, it sucks, another takedown ... Everybody, you know, treats us like pieces of s--- ... They beat our asses like we were little pieces of s--- ... but our f--- government will go in reverse now, and nobody will respond or anything, and nobody will punish anyone for this ... So these are our casualties."

Second clip:

"Out of all vehicles, only one tank survived and one BRDM [armored reconnaissance vehicle] after the attack, all other BRDMs and tanks were destroyed in the first minutes of the fight, right away."

Third clip:

"Just had a call with a guy — so they basically formed a convoy, but did not get to their f--- positions by some 300 meters. One unit moved forward, the convoy remained in place, about 300 meters from the others. The others raised the American f--- flag, and their artillery started f--- ours really hard. Then their f--- choppers flew in and started f--- everybody. Ours just running around. Just got a call from a pal, so there are about 215 f--- killed. They simply rolled ours out f--- hard. Made their point. What the f--- ours were hoping for in there?! That they will f--- run away themselves? Hoped to f--- scare them away? Lots of people f--- so bad [they] can't be f--- ID'd. There was no foot soldiers [on the American side]; they simply f--- our convoy with artillery."

Not hard to take out merc's with a professional army. They are an inferior force in every way to a professional military.

I wonder if they were supposed to have close air support and provided by who.

https://media.giphy.com/media/SrQDdfkol8AAE/giphy.gifI'm sure he's got a story. If you thumb around through some of the ME threads, I posted other info on this story. One was from TASS or the BBC I think with the Russian estimates. Their numbers are under a hundred, and they called the troops "former" Russian military personnel.

That's fine with me if they don't want to admit to anything more. If the headlines said US troops killed 300 Russian troops, Putin would be pressured to do something about it. I could care less what the Russians want to do with Syria. We don't need to go rednecking a fight where there ain't one, whether we could win it or not.

Our capability to win has never been a question in MY mind. The political will to? I have NO faith in the jellyfish in DC to fight and win a sustained war.

You want my opinion? - OK.

First, the Americans are insolent. It seems that the Vietnamese lessons have already been forgotten. So, be prepared that it will be repeated. But ... Revenge is a dish that is served cold. So we will wait for the results of the presidential elections, the inauguration and forming of a new government in Russia. Then we'll see what will happen. Be patient. The only one being insolent, not to mention a complete prig, is YOU.

Just to clear this up for you since clarity or vision is obviously just another weakness for you ... the US is not the one that needs to be worried about being tied up in Syria in an unwinnable war. We can leave. Our involvement begins and ends with ISIS. Russia, on the other hand, is heavily invested in Syria, with or without ISIS, and was supporting Assad BEFORE ISIS, meddling in a civil war that is going on its 8 years.

Maybe you ought to quit being so stupid and blind in your political rhetoric and assess the situation objectively. If you were ever in the military it had to be shining a chair with your ass. You have continuously displayed total ignorance t actual warfare.

Yes. The picture is offensive. Gratuitously so. An outright insult.

I honestly wish it wasn't the case. But -- the psychology at work here is one of arrogance, sheer contempt - and of an enemy. Not anyone caring to be any form of friend or trustworthy ally. This much is surely completely obvious by now.

Very instructive, Balu ... 'thank you'.

I've just these questions, @Balu (http://www.debatepolicy.com/member.php?u=3557) --- you may not have the personal ability to relate to them, much less answer. But do try.

Do you have any sense of shame in you, at all ? Any real decency ?

I've already said - Jokes apart.

... According to the Syrian media in Syria, there are now four Su-57, which amicably equalized the eastern Gutu along with American soldiers. Also, the Syrian media write that in eastern Gut there were up to 2,000 American soldiers in the so-called Cheka, this figure should be supplemented by NATO soldiers who do not understand what they are doing there. American militants and terrorists need to be counted separately, they were killed much more.

Now no one doubts that this is revenge for 217 Russian guys who died as a result of the American shelling a few days ago.
State Department tried to phone to Moscow, but nobody answers there. As Lavrov said in Munich: "The time of negotiations has passed, the time of retribution has come." And it's really true, Russia does not intend to tolerate the antics of the United States either in Syria or elsewhere. And believe me, now in Guta is steeper than Stalingrad. From there, no live American soldier will leave....

Showing your true colours with a vengeance, eh, Balu ?

The truth of how you think is that you'd only ally yourself with any other world power if it served your interests. Cynical expedience is the order of the day ... and every other day, too. You think of yourselves much as Hitler thought of his Reich ... that The Master Race held dominion, and all others outside of it were raw material for the furtherance of ambition.

Has anything in Mother Russia really changed since the time of Stalin ? Judging by your postings, I'd have to believe ... not.

Stalin, the oppressor ... done with cruelty, contempt, a disregard for all life not serving his ambitions. A natural ally, certainly, of Hitler ... and remember, it was HITLER, not Stalin, who broke the pact they had between them.

Here you are, today, Balu -- posting on an American site, showing us your contempt for American servicemen, and the sensibilities of decent, patriotic Americans. It's essentially the same mindset as the one I described above.

DO YOU have any capacity for humility or decency ?

H'm. I'm not sure I even need to comment.

One interesting point, though. Just how much of what your link shows us, can we even believe, or take on face value ? I ask, because on the left hand side of the page I've viewed, I see a picture of a British ex-footballer (now BBC sports commentator) supposedly pictured after his 'arrest'. Headline: 'Ex-footballer Jailed'.

Any Brit would readily recognise him. He's Gary Lineker.

I've seen no report of any arrest of his, much less of his being 'jailed'. His brother WAS jailed, years ago, for fraud. But Gary L himself has not been jailed (... and the follow-up piece on him doesn't address that at all !!). If that site says or even hints otherwise, it isn't to be believed.

So --- what else on that site CAN be taken as 'accurate' reporting ... ?

Is the truth here, Balu, that you're just indulging in some especially disgraceful, hostile, anti-American propagandising ?
