1. According to https://www.msn.com/en-sg/news/world/kim-giving-up-nukes-was-fathers-last-wish/ar-BBJWGqj?li=AAaGkVj&ocid=spartandhp

(Begin excerpts)
Kim Jong Un is willing to give up nuclear weapons if the security of his regime is guaranteed, says South Korea, after he reportedly said it was the last wish of his father.

An envoy from Seoul made the announcement after meeting the North Korean leader, who is also said to be open to "frank" talks with the US...

"The North made clear its willingness for the denuclearisation of the Korean peninsula, and made clear that there is no reason to own nuclear (programmes) if military threats towards the North are cleared and the security of its regime is guaranteed," said the South's national security adviser, Chung Eui-yong...

"Chairman Kim said that even denuclearisation could be among the agenda items for talks between North Korea and the US," a South Korean official told the country's Yonhap news agency.

Kim Jong Un "made clear that achieving denuclearisation is his father's dying wish and that it has not been changed at all", according to the official who was speaking anonymously... (End excerpts)

2. According to http://www.news.com.au/technology/why-its-so-important-for-north-korea-to-develop-nuclear-weapons/news-story/ae936c8099fdcfb137860260afcee844

(Begin excerpts)
Former leader Kim Jong-il revised the constitution to state that he had “transferred the country into an undefeated country with strong political ideology, a nuclear power state, and invincible military power”. (End excerpts)

Hence it is an outright lie for Tubby Kim to claim that "achieving denuclearisation is his father's dying wish". How can Uncle Sam trust Kim's sincerity in denuclearisation?

3. Summary

First of all, North Korea's security is easily guaranteed. Just hold an international conference and let all the five nuclear powers and all other countries sign on paper to guarantee its security.

Does a country need nuclear weapons for its long-term survival? Just look at Vietnam and Taiwan. Do they need nuclear weapons to guarantee their survival against China? Hence it is just a lame excuse for North Korea to claim that it needs nuclear weapons for its long-term survival. Its security has been guaranteed by Russia and China in particular since the 1950 Korean War, otherwise American troops could have chased the rogue regime out of the Korean Peninsula long ago.

Secondly, don't rejoice over the "huge news and major breakthrough" that North Korea is willing to give up its nuclear programme. North Korea is a hard nut to crack as the rogue state is very cunning and creative in the way that it goes about sanctions evasion. Its latest move is the most cunning and creative of all as it helps the rogue regime not only to evade but lift sanctions.

For the first time since advancing all the way westward from Europe across America to Asia, the descendants of early European settlers encounter a "Red Indian tribe" that is difficult to deal with. If the American natives were as crafty and creative as the North Koreans, the history of America and the world would be entirely different.

The main problem for America and the international community is the fact that it is absolutely impossible to denuclearise a free nuclear-armed state for the following reasons:

(a) According to Arthur Waldron, a professor of international relations with the University of Pennsylvania at http://www.scmp.com/news/china/diplomacy-defence/article/2107056/its-time-accept-nuclear-armed-north-korea-policy

“There’s no such thing as a surgical strike that will take out all of North Korea’s missiles. North Korea is 48,000 square miles – the size of England or Pennsylvania – and everything is underground,” he said, adding that it was also impossible to verify denuclearisation.

(b) The first reason explains North Korea's sudden flurry of activities to accelerate its nuclear programme last year. Impossible to verify denuclearisation is equivalent to impossible to denuclearise a free nuclear-armed state. North Korea can easily hide a few nuclear weapons somewhere in the mountains or underground, and bring them out to turn the South into "a sea of fire" when necessary.

Unlike imperial Japan and Nazi Germany, North Korea is not a defeated country in a war. The US cannot station a governing body or troops to search every nook and cranny of the country for any hidden nuclear weapon.

(c) After the surrender of Nazi Germany and Japan at the end of World War 2, the US had the authority to disband all the military organisations in the two countries. Uncle Sam could even recruit the scientists of the two countries and brought them to America to help in the development of US rockets and other weapons. North Korea certainly won't let the US to disband all its military organisations. It will continue training and upgrading the skills of its nuclear scientists whose expertise can be fully utilised when the time is ripe for it to breach any agreement or obligation with the US.

(d) After the lifting of the sanctions, North Korea will have free access to capital and technology to accelerate its nuclear programme.

(e) Japan was forced to enact a pacifist constitution after surrendering to the US. Postwar Japan formally renounced the sovereign right of belligerency and aimed at an international peace based on justice and order. To accomplish the pacifist aims, Japan vowed not to maintain armed forces with war potential. Can the US force North Korea to enact a pacifist constitution in exchange for the lifting of sanctions?

P.S. The North Korean nuclear saga shows that a large state often resorts to brute force but a small weak state needs no super weapons but brains for survival. Since North Korea can survive with smart brains, why does it need nuclear weapons? History will tell in the future.

If you study the history of conflicts between ancient Korean kingdoms, you won't be optimistic about any peace prospect on the Korean Peninsula. What South Korea has achieved is only postponing the inevitable invasion by the North. North Korea is eying the South like a hungry wolf salivating at the sight of a lamb.

Do you enjoy sounding like a fool?

Why didn't this happen during the kenyan? Bush? Clinton?

I can answer that... because none of them had the balls to threaten rocket man with blowing his pie face off the map, that's why.

Credit: President Trump... period... end of story.

With that said, I'm sure the inbred idiot still thinks he's going to play president Trump, and that won't work either, and I can hear it now. If a deal isn't reached, it's Trump's fault... right? SK gets credit for the talks, but if the talks net nothing, then it's Trump's fault. He'll never win or do anything right in you fascist leftist's eyes will he? No. We know that.

Even if president Trump is able to reach a deal and NK agrees to disarm it's nukes, you leftists will find something wrong with the deal. You'll accuse him of fucking it up no matter what.

South and North Korea Set to Announce End to 67 Year War in Talks Next Week

North and South Korea are set to announce an end to their 67-year-long war in talks next week.

The announcement was made before a summit next week between Kim Jong Un and South Korean President Moon Jae-in.

President Donald Trump has agreed to meet with North Korea’s Kim Jong Un by the month of May.

CNBC reported:

North and South Korea are in talks to announce a permanent end to the officially declared military conflict between the two countries, daily newspaper Munhwa Ilbo reported Tuesday, citing an unnamed South Korean official.

Ahead of a summit next week between North Korean premier Kim Jong Un and South Korean President Moon Jae-in, lawmakers from the neighboring states were thought to be negotiating the details of a joint statement that could outline an end to the confrontation.

Kim and Moon could also discuss returning the heavily-fortified demilitarized zone separating them to its original state, the newspaper said.

Pyongyang and Seoul have technically been at war since the 1950-1953 Korean conflict ended with a truce — and not a peace treaty. Geopolitical tensions have occasionally flared up since the armistice, although to date both countries have managed to avoid another devastating conflict.

Shinzo Abe: Upcoming North Korea Summit a Result of Donald Trump’s ‘Unwavering Conviction’

Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe praised President Donald Trump for his success in getting North Korea to agree to preliminary talks with the United States.

“The background of this change is Donald’s unwavering conviction, as well as the determination that you demonstrated in addressing the issue of North Korea,” Abe told Trump. “So your stance made it possible to achieve this major change.”

Abe made his remarks while visiting the president on Tuesday at his Mar-a-Lago club in Florida, where they discussed national security issues, trade, and the ongoing diplomatic process in North Korea.

He praised the strength of the United States military as well as the success of the Winter Olympic Games in Pyeongchang, concluding that diplomatic relations in the region had changed dramatically since Trump became president.

“I’d like to take this opportunity to express and pay my tribute to your leadership,” he said.

“This will be a historic meeting, and I certainly hope that there will be progress on these fronts,” he said.

I almost get the feeling that pie face rocket man knows what kind of "cool stuff" the rest of the world has, like electricity, nice cars, nice restaurants, shopping malls with things actually in them for sale, etc, and he's actually envious. He's also smart enough to know that he can never have any of those things unless he gives up his rockets and the threats to fire them off at someone that would just result in his nation being turned into a parking lot anyway. Pretty simple deal.

Fact of the matter is though, it took Trump and his in your face threats to blow his ass up to push him to where he is now.

I hold a fair amount of skepticism though with others here... it all sounds nice, but it's such a massive departure from what NoKo is, which is being the most secretive nation on the planet. What will it look like if a deal is made? Pie face might not like not being able to kill people he doesn't like indiscriminately if the rest of the world is finally able to keep a close eye on him, and I'm sure that'll be part of the deal to make sure he's holding up his end.

Trump Confirms CIA Director Made Secret Trip To North Korea To Meet Kim Jong Un

President Donald Trump confirmed on Twitter Wednesday that CIA Director Mike Pompeo secretly met North Korean leader Kim Jong Un in North Korea earlier this month.

“Mike Pompeo met with Kim Jong Un in North Korea last week,” the president tweeted, “Meeting went very smoothly and a good relationship was formed. Details of summit are being worked out now.”

“Denuclearization will be a great thing for World, but also for North Korea!” Trump added, commenting specifically on Pyongyang’s purported willingness to denuclearize the Korean Peninsula.

The president’s confirmation follows a shocking revelation from The Washington Post that not only are U.S. officials in direct contact with North Korean officials, as CNN previously reported, but Pompeo traveled to the rogue regime and met with Kim. The meeting was “part of an effort to lay the groundwork” for Trump’s meeting with Kim.

Kim was reportedly “personable and well prepared,” an administration official familiar with the meeting told CNN’s Will Ripley. The main problem in discussions was finding a suitable venue for the upcoming Trump-Kim summit. If the meeting takes place, the president will become the first sitting American president to sit down with a North Korean leader.
