This is the newest car I've owned. 2007. Can't see myself buying newer, ever. This car, in a word, is a 'hoot'. FEELS faster than it is - around town the tug from the torque steer and the zippy turbo 4 means tons of grins. While this is euro spec, thus will stay here when I head back to the US, I'm going to need to buy one when I get back.

Here's what's written about the John Cooper works version (220hp vs my car's 173hp)

"True, there are much faster sports cars out there — cars that can saw the MINI's acceleration in half. But in the JCW you just feel every single one of the those six seconds fly by in joyous flashback of you life, as you balance on a sword's edge of raw terror. A sword's edge that's been heated in a small yet quite angry blast furnace."

$600 gets the car tuned to approximately 205-215hp. That'll happen this summer :)

Summed it up perfectly in my view.

Cool car... and ya know, I used to say I wouldn't buy a newer car either, because of all the computers and they could track you and on and on, I just didn't want it. Then I bought my 2015 Chevy 2500HD Silverado Z71 LTZ, and it has to be my most favorite vehicle I've ever owned. Every time I get in it I'm blown away.

That's the car the wifey wants to zoom around town and go to the train station. But that would mean tossing away my 2004 Toyota 4 Runner which I love! (only 103k now). AND it would also mean that it would be MY full time vehicle too, and I'm not sure how I feel about them.

If perhaps say purple and black, some cool tires, and not looking like a lesbian mobile...

:D

well...keep in mind. Previous cars include Fiat 126 (27hp), Ford Probe GT (about 300hp), Subaru Legacy GT (400hp), Mx5 (120hp), Rx8 (215hp), ZX6R (108hp), Lifted Expedition on 34" tires (whocaresHP)....

I like what I like :D

In certain spots, this Mini is the fastest car I've had. Sorta. When I get back to the states the mini I get might have closer to 300hp and be plenty scary fast.

Or I'll just stop getting cars and invest in farm equipment.

`Roadfly TV takes a spin with the new 2007 MINI Cooper S on Firebird International Raceway. This sporty little car, pound-for-pound, has power that can't be beat.`

:D Thanks for those.

About the only thing I don't like is revving engines in N because cars sound different under load.

here's a fun little tuning trick - bangs and pops:

there's a BBQ tune that makes it shoot fire a bit, too :)

I was just thinking EXACTLY the same thing myself... "revving an engine like that while not under load is NOT good for it."

Even if it's not bad for the engine, it still is goofy. :) It doesnt rev my engine. :) Doesnt get me going.

Fun cars do that, though. Cars that make me want to clap my hands or giggle or sorta just grin. It's why I love Miatae and what-not. They are just perfect.

My AF photographer buddy back in Vegas bought this little Triumph sports car. I think it might have had like 45 horse power from a little 4 banger, but you could wind it way the hell out and it sounded so cool when you did it, just made it fun to drive...

If you liked that, look for a 1994 Miata with limited slip diff in the back. They used Torsen units if I recall. Anywho - it'll feel like that Triumph but not leak oil nor break down very much :D
