Did he even bother to read the text of the statement?

Here’s the transcript, as per Deadspin (https://theconcourse.deadspin.com/how-americas-largest-local-tv-owner-turned-its-news-anc-1824233490):
Hi, I’m(A) ____________, and I’m (B) _________________…
(B) Our greatest responsibility is to serve our [local] communities. We are extremely proud of the quality, balanced journalism that [station] produces.
(A) But we’re concerned about the troubling trend of irresponsible, one-sided news stories plaguing our country. The sharing of biased and false news has become all too common on social media.
(B) More alarming, some media outlets publish these same fake stories … stories that just aren’t true, without checking facts first.
(A) Unfortunately, some members of the media use their platforms to push their own personal bias and agenda to control "exactly what people think." … This is extremely dangerous to a democracy.
(B) At [station] it’s our responsibility to pursue and report the truth. We understand Truth is neither politically "left nor right." Our commitment to factual reporting is the foundation of our credibility, now more than ever.

Bad enough that lying piece of shit Rather had to chime in on Sinclair Broadcasting's stand against fake news, now the number two Democrat in the Senate tries his hand at official intimidation. Thank God The Great One, Mark Levin, heard about this and put Dickie "Turbin" Durbin in his place: https://www.conservativereview.com/articles/mark-levin-blasts-tyrant-sen-dick-durbin-going-sinclair-broadcasting/

Dan Rather brands Sinclair "Orwellian" in an effort to discredit its' message. Sen. Durbin tries to discredit its' message by claiming the monstrous Sinclair overlords force their underlings to do their bidding under threat of termination. Ben Swann tries to discredit its' message by branding it as the natural outcome of media consolidation which his sponsor, DASH cryptocurrency, just happens to be the solution to. Each one has an agenda while they all conveniently avoid the message of Sinclair Broadcasting. A simple corporate statement of principles that until a few short years ago was the accepted standard of nearly every Journalism School and media outlet in the country. No wonder fake news is well on its way to becoming the new media standard.
