Chinese President Xi Jinping on Tuesday (Monday night in the U.S.) promised to open the country’s economy further and lower import tariffs on products including cars, in a speech that comes amid rising trade tensions between China and the United States.

Xi also said China would raise the foreign ownership limit in the automobile sector “as soon as possible” and push previously announced measures to open the financial sector.

“This year, we will considerably reduce auto import tariffs, and at the same time reduce import tariffs on some other products,” Xi said at the Chinese Boao Forum for Asia in Hainan province.
The comments sent U.S. stock futures, the dollar and Asian shares higher.

They come amid rising trade tensions between China and the United States following a week of escalating tariff threats sparked by U.S. frustration with China’s trade and intellectual property policies.

I can not wait to see how the lying mainstream media and democrat propaganda spin machine attempt to spin this into a negative.
I am no friend of China(As I know they are not true allies to USA), but this is great news for Americans and our economy ,IMHO.
Trump rightly saw we have the upper hand and must finally make our own demands instead of only think to give to them, while they slyly smile, take our gold and militarily make plans to fight and defeat us in the future..
As is glaringly evident in their anti-carrier ballistic missile designed ""specifically"" to sink American aircraft carriers(this is a well known fact).
Doesn't not get any more obvious that that, does it?? Tyr

Nice. Most people in China don't drive cars. Definitely not American ones. This ought to make a big dent

That's true that most Chinese don't drive cars but of the ones that do, they have made their country the largest market in the world for Buicks. Including the US!

North Korea. Now, this.

Trump's hard-nosed approach is fast being shown as the right one on the international scene. It's a far cry from the disgusting weakness of Obama.

Excellent stuff. I look forward to seeing more of the same from your President. He's proving to be a breath of fresh air.

Quite likely the big dent just may be in the lower tariffs on the far less costing items, ones that millions more Chinese can afford. The Chinese population has a rising class of people( THOSE WEALTHY AND AN INCREASING RICHER MIDDLE CLASS OF MERCHANTS AND HIGHLY EDUCATED PROFESSIONALS)
THAT CAN AFFORD MUCH, MUCH MORE THAN IN PAST DECADES.

POINT IS, MUCH OF THAT IS THANKS TO THE HUNDREDS OF BILLIONS YEARLY WE PUMP IN DUE TO OUR CREATING THEM TO BE OUR MAJOR LABOR FORCE.
So our getting some of those billions back by lower tariffs on our own trade goods sent into China makes perfect sense.
As is the reality, even if this is too small a start, the fact is once they start getting certain products from us that they do not manufacture there, greed/human nature takes over and they demand more and more.
I think that is Trump's thinking on this-- get our foot in the door and get them used to us demanding more from them than has ever been demanded in the past.
If so, then this is a very good start, if not then this is a mirage. Time will tell my friend..-Tyr
