Now that the movie "Chappaquiddick" is in the theaters, I was wondering if anyone has seen it or plans to see it. From what I understand, it's a fairly historically accurate (even down to the 'historical smoking' warned about in the radio ads) film that from what I understand most people are shocked was even made. It appears the Kennedy Empire has lost its' juice. In years past, they would have retained that high powered, gay, Irish law firm, Patrick Fitzgerald & Gerald Fitzpatrick and no studio would have dared produce such a 'hit piece'. Anyway, I'm glad this film was finally made and its' release brought to mind this classic from Rush's 'Grooveyard of Forgotten Hits':

There’s another local connection in the upcoming “Chappaquiddick” movie about the death of Forty

Fort native Mary Jo Kopechne in Sen. Ted Kennedy’s car.

The stunt double for actress Kate Mara — who plays Kopechne — is also from the Wyoming Valley.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f4huqCCBcSIHaven't seen it. I got watch it play out in living B&W as it unfolded.

Yes, they had cigarette adds back then on radio and tv. Tobacco companies were huge TV sponsors of programming in the 40s and 50s. I doubt TV would have come along or caught on as fast as it did without tobacco money.

I still remember the last cigarette commercial. Virginia Slims. We all watched just because it was advertised in advance as the last one.

My grandfather was a big-time FDR Democrat and when the Teddy story broke he just shook his head said there's another Kennedy ain't going to make it. However, just like a few other Democrats still clinging to seats and clearly as loony as Daffy Duck, Teddy pretty much died in office regardless his crime. Had that been a Republican it would STILL be front page news.

Dude was a total self-serving coward.

Only a Kennedy act of malfeasance could knock the moon landing off the front page AND RESULT IN A MISDEMEANOR!

I can't believe that I was able to slip that 'high powered law firm' reference right past everyone.

I reckon in not old enough  or savvy enough 樂 to get it.Whatever dude. Guess you had to be there like the rest of us old f*cks

So here it is how it goes. I was raised in a Dem family and the Kennedy's were the sh*t. I couldn't believe Teddy pulled the cowardly act of all cowards. It took awhile to realize he just pussed out. I know all the excuses because I used to make them for him.
