That looks like what was called a 'donkey' used by timber companies to drag felled trees out of the forest....but it is huge!

Yeah most of them were steam I think.

This big ole thing is just too cool. I can't figure out if it's gas or diesel. Diesel probably, since it belches black and I don't see any sort of an ignition system.

I do believe diesel as well. Most all of the donkey's I saw at timber museums were steam. A working model is on display
at Fort Humboldt State Park in Eureka CA.

That being a 1934 machine, it is not hard to believe they converted to diesel.
