We'll soon have this too. Inanimate guns involved in killing? Ban the guns. Folks start using knives? Ban the knives. Folks use bombs, cars, poison, spoons, baseball bats... - just ban them as they come along, this will definitely stop criminals and murderers from committing their crimes.

No gun laws in Britain, some of the harshest laws in America are in Chicago. Well now, those areas are proof.

---

British Politicians Declare War on Knives

Having failed to thwart crime with gun bans, British officials now want to restrict what may be the most useful tool ever invented.

It turns out that when you pass laws disarming people in an attempt to prevent violence, criminals who habitually disregard all laws don't make exceptions for the new rules. In London, crime still thrives despite the U.K.'s tight gun controls and the British political class is now desperately turning its attention to restricting knives.

A flurry of recent headlines reveal that London now has a higher murder rate than New York City, a metropolis of nearly identical population and one long considered more vulnerable to crime. "London police investigated more murders than their New York counterparts did over the last two months," Reuters reported earlier this month. "In the latest bloodshed, a 17-year-old girl died on Monday after she was found with gunshot wounds in Tottenham, north London, a day after a man was fatally stabbed in south London."

Commentators note that this may be a blip and that New York City's murder rate for 2017 stood at more than double that for London. In fact, London's murder rate really hasn't risen much—instead, New York's has dropped dramatically. But that still represents a big shift. In her 2002 Guns and Violence: The English Experience, historian Joyce Lee Malcolm noted that "New York City's homicide rate has been at least five times higher than London's for two hundred years. For most of that time, there were no serious firearm restrictions in either city."

This sort of political correctness in the UK is nothing new. Scotland has been tough on knife-carrying for several years already. See this, dating back to 2013 ...

http://www.scotland.police.uk/whats-happening/news/2013/april/163403/

Chief Constable to outline approach to tackle violence

People who carry knives and put the safety of the public at risk are to be proactively targeted in a Scotland-wide effort to reduce violence, Chief Constable Steve House will announce tomorrow (Tues 23 April).

Mr House will say he wants police officers to ensure the use of Stop and Search powers are used more effectively as a tactic to disrupt and deter those who use weapons.

I envy you people. This sort of control is still quite new to you ! We, in the UK, have had Socialists intermittently in power for several decades ... and their approach here has always been one of social engineering, shaping thoughts, opinions, then ensuring that once their preferences take hold, it's all enshrined in law.

Knife control is just one example of it. No doubt they'll 'tighten the screw' still further in times ahead.

I wonder if this Texas mother 'just happens' to have the added incentive which comes from a belief in Socialism .. ?

The 'shaving' one is already appropriate. There's a restriction in force against selling razor blades to anyone under the age of 18.

Do you have any law that's the equivalent of this ... >> ?

http://www.devonsomersettradingstandards.gov.uk/businesses/understanding-your-rights-responsibilities/age-restricted-products/which-products-are-age-restricted/

Offensive Weapons Act 1996

This makes it an offence to sell to anyone under the age of 18 any knife, knife blade or razor blade, axe or any other article which has a blade or which is sharply pointed, and which is made or adapted for use for causing injury to the person. Whether a particular article is a knife is a question of fact, but using a wider definition, this legislation prohibits sales of, for example, sheath knives, kitchen knives, craft knives and carpet knives to persons under the age of 18. This legislation does not apply to folding pocket knives if the cutting edge of the blade is less than three inches or 7.62cm. Nor does it apply to replacement cartridges for safety razors, where less than 2mm of the blade is exposed.

There's also this ...

Anti-Social Behaviour Act 2003

It is an offence to sell aerosol spray paint to persons aged under 16.

Many states, and localities still have something formerly called "BLUE LAWS".
Rules that were really, really stupid, and laughable. But with Political Correctness being enforced these days...who knows where the IDIOCY will end??

It'll end when people finally stop empowering the Left. Until or unless that happens, Aboutime, we can expect their never-ending onslaught on all our lives.

Power is everything to them. Even idiotic power.

@Drummond (http://www.debatepolicy.com/member.php?u=2287) In Wisconsin, I can still go to a gun show with rows and rows of tables full of every kind of gun, and buy a gun from the seller, LEGALLY, as a private citizen with no back ground check. There's also a considerable amount of tables full of every kind of knife you can image, from bayonets to small "switch blades," which are also legal in Wisconsin, and these shows go on in just about every small to medium sized town in Wisconsin. The good thing here is our politicians know that hunting and fishing is HUGE in this state, so they stay clear of talking about GUN CONTROL, or worse yet, KNIFE CONTROL. They'd be voted out faster than they'd know what hit them. When we lose these rights, then America will cease to be America. We were founded on these rights, and we'll only continue to be America so long as we still have those rights. I wish you poor slobs across the pond had the same rights we do. There'd be less political IDIOTS in power.

So besides Abbey owing a Coke ...

Hypothetical: If I take off my shoes, curl back the toes on my foot and kick you just inside of and below the knee it will collapse your femoral atery and you won't be getting back up.. Ever.

So I propose we outlaw feet. Some people are just too stupid to get the easy crap. I (singular, possessive, noun) am the weapon. What you stick in my hand I will McGyver up your ass. Whatever label you got works for me. In the end?

I'm the one still standing.

What I don't get? Why would you want to kill someone for no damned reason? If you give me time I can out think and analyze bread crumbs. I hit the brick wall when I run into stupid. Is it being lazy? I don't get it. I can take your sh*t. If you don't have a means of defense? I can take two loads of it. And I have big truck.

What does anyone have worth killing for? A moment of some stuff? So, all those years. Wasted for greed. Or stupidity. A misguided belief is more dangerous than a gun. One runs out of ammo.

All I know is that I will not give up my KA-BAR Fighter... nor any other knife I own...Sykes-Fairbairn. Brit command knife. I got one from a Brit Marine that wanted a K-Bar. Way better for killing. Drawback? You can dig with your K-Bar and it'll still hang for you. So, if you are the psycho with all the blades, you have one of each. And a Leatherman. And a Spyderco. Fingernail cleaner from Buck. The Corps didn't allow swords. Communists. I carried two rifles. You'd think they'd allow me a measely sword.

The person I actually wish I could meet? Tyr. I have tomahawks but he says he can throw them. Never underestimate the poet.

You and Abs actually remind me of my grandparents. Those 2 would fuss at each other all day then kiss goodnight. I thought that was how it was supposed to be. Big disappointment road sign for gunny. I don't envy you her. What you have? You can't buy. Appreciate it.

I've carried a knife for as long as I can remember. My Dad gave me my first knife. He always carried one too. I probably have a dozen knives sizing from a little guy to my switch blades up to a Case XX Bowie knife... and I don't give a fuck who thinks I shouldn't have them... if you can kill me you can take them, but you'll be prying them out of my cold dead fingers.

You want my guns... you want my knives... I only have one thing to say to you... FUCK, OFF.

I heard that for 8 years... "you Air Force pukes have the BEST chows halls." I never ate in different branches chow hall, so I have nothing to compare it to, but I will say, I'd KILL for an AF chow hall breakfast. I usually ate breakfast and lunch on base all through my time in, and I have no complaints.

There's probably no other issue that shows the difference between the UK and the US more starkly than this one. Most people here in the UK are - if you can believe it - happy with the way things are here. Has that come about because of decades of indoctrination from the Left ? I certainly think so.

Most people here have never even SEEN a gun .. not personally, anyway, other than in films or on TV .. much less handled any and tried shooting with one. That's as true of me as the vast majority here.

I've always argued that ours is the stupid mindset on this. Someone commits a violent act, maybe a life-threatening one .. they can continue to, until the police arrive (however long that takes). We had riots here, in 2011, and shopkeepers couldn't use guns to defend their stores. So, those riots, all that pilfering, continued for days on end.

Knife crime in London has rocketed recently. Hardly anybody can deter thugs with a gun, so, the crimes continue. Drive-bys by teenagers on mopeds, who throw acid at a passers-by .. again, no actual DEFENCE against it exists, real-time. Yet ... there's no cry for the general public to start defending themselves with guns. The psychology which thinks it's a good thing has been programmed out of us.

Instead, our media broadcast news of the latest shootings in America, and the media usually take the line ... 'This is happening because the US hasn't civilised itself enough to want to be tough on gun control'.

That it's PEOPLE who kill, rather than the guns (which are inanimate objects) is wholly lost on people here.

So, I envy you. Deterrence is a fine weapon against crime, and what's a better deterrent, than a society where anyone can be packing a gun, and so could theoretically shoot you dead, or cripple you, if you do something to deserve it ?

America has that commonsense. We lack it. You will always be much the better society for having recourse to self-defence, which we insanely will never have the intelligence and sheer backbone to take on for ourselves.

This is just... SAD, brother... SAD. I can't even BEGIN to imagine the mind set that someone would have when there's rampant crime, and then think having NO self defense is a GOOD thing... it's mind bobbling. If someone comes to my house, if they kick in my door, they're going to have a hole through them that you could drive a MACK TRUCK through, and I'll walk, that's my RIGHT to defend my life, limb and property with DEADLY FORCE. THANK GOD we still have that CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHT in America.

And you know what? Where the GUN violence is the WORST in America, is the cities with the STRICTEST GUN CONTROL. Now if that doesn't tell people something, then they're just RETARDED. Breaking and entering types of crime around my parts out here in small town America are virtually NON EXISTENT. Even the thugs are smart enough to know that almost EVERYONE has a GUN here, most have LOTS of guns, and if you try forcing your way into someone's home, the chances you'll be SHOT are about 99.9%. THAT is the kind of DETERRENT that keeps the morons in check. I have a Uberti Colt Birdshead replica .45 Long Colt, LOADED, with hollow points by my desk by the back door, and a Taurus Raging Bull .44 Mag, LOADED, with hollow points in the drawer in the front room. So it doesn't matter what door you kick in here, you're DEAD. I couldn't even imagine NOT having my guns. It wouldn't be America.
