Do folks not see just how retarded this sounds and is? And now with so many folks being run down and killed by various vehicles - which are to be banned to prevent them? And then what's next to be banned?
"Sorry sir, you can't cut your steak or chicken there on the grill, are you some kind of terrorist in waiting? Just cut your food with a fork like the rest of us. Oh, wait a minute, I forgot we banned those too when the fork in the eyes stabbings got out of hand"

British Judge Calls for Banning the Sale of Large, Pointed Kitchen Knives
The UK is in the midst of an epidemic of knife attacks so, naturally, the idea is being floated to ban them.
Crown Court Judge Nic Madge said in a speech that there should be a nationwide program to file down the points of large kitchen knives and to ban their sale.
Telegraph:
Judge Madge told the assembled judges, barristers and court staff: “These offences often seem motiveless - one boy was stabbed because he had an argument a couple of years before at his junior school.”
He said laws designed to reduce the availability of weapons to young would-be offenders had had “almost no effect”, since the vast majority had merely taken knives from a cutlery drawer.
He said: “A few of the blades carried by youths are so called ‘Rambo knives’ or samurai swords. They though are a very small minority.
"The reason why these measures have little effect is that the vast majority of knives carried by youths are ordinary kitchen knives. Every kitchen contains lethal knives which are potential murder weapons.
"Accordingly, it is very easy for any youth who wants to obtain a knife to take it from the kitchen drawer in his home or in the home of one of his friends.”

Chinese restaurants have been doing this for decades. Now I know why, lol.
I think the car example is the best analogy to guns. One car can kill a lot of people in seconds.
But yeah, no one is looking to ban cars.

I’m just waiting for the honor killings. They happen. They are on those crime-magazine type shows on ID every so often. Shows like 20/20. It is not in the interest of the left nor the media to report them and hammer on them for weeks like school shootings. Wouldn't want anybody to think those peaceful Muslims did bad things, would you?

I wasn't going to hint to that... Martial Arts... no need to hurry them up on outlawing that too.Martial arts has been outlawed many times throughout the centuries in the Far East. WE outlawed karate, kenjutsu, jiujutsu and kenpo in Japan following WWII. The Japanese had outlawed karate in Okinawa and it was illegal for any peasant in Japan to practice. Kara-te or Okinawan te is not Japanese although they would have you believe it. It is Okinawan.

Some people give looks that can kill....I get accused of that a LOT. That's one of those things that's annoying at times, but also fits right in with my sense of humor. I can be off on la-la land and get asked what i'm pissed about. I DO look cold with just a straight face; which, is what I normally sport. Oh well.
And in keeping with everyone minding everyone's business I get "you should smile more". Why? Maybe you should give me something to smile about? Do something stupid. I'll laugh at your ass in a second :)

Blazingbeats was TECHNICALLY correct. Under very exceptional circumstances, a gun can be legally owned. This is how our own authorities see the issue:
http://www.newsweek.com/britains-gun-laws-who-can-own-firearm-471473
U.K. firearms policy is based on the fact that firearms are dangerous weapons and the State has a duty to protect the public from their misuse. Gun ownership in the U.K. is a privilege, not a right. Firearms control in the U.K. is among the toughest in the world ...
To you, gun ownership is a Constitutional right. We in the UK lack that freedom. Here, it's a right CONFERRED as a choice, and comparatively rarely.
Permission to possess or to purchase or acquire a firearm will be granted to an individual who is assessed by the licensing authority, the police, as not posing a threat to public safety and having a good reason to own the firearm. Organizations, such as target-shooting clubs, museums and firearms dealers must also apply for licences if they wish to possess or use firearms. Persons who have been sentenced to a term of imprisonment of three years or more cannot possess a firearm or ammunition (including antique firearms) at any time.
This is what it hinges on, here. If you want to own a gun, you have to justify the necessity for owning one. Just saying 'I want to own one' isn't good enough over here, and on top of that, to be considered for a firearms licence, the police have to (supposedly) know in advance that if you do, you won't be a threat to anyone with it.
I suppose it's a 'burden of proof' issue.

I suppose it's a 'burden of proof' issue. In theory and in writing you are correct. The 2nd Amendment guarantees the Right to own firearms.
In practice, out rules are little different than the UKs. We don't have to prove the need. If you desire to purchase a firearm you are not walking out the door with it without a police background check run on the spot usually. While (in TX) there is no legal mandatory waiting period, you cannot leave with the firearm without the police check.
If you have been convicted of a felony you cannot possess a firearm.
If (in TX) you have been convicted of domestic violence (a misdemeanor) you cannot own nor possess a handgun.
In IL, since they cannot legally force people to register their firearms, they register the Owners instead. You cannot possess a firearm in hte State of Illinois without a Firearms Owner ID card. Their way of circumventing the law.
When I lived in CA they had a mandatory waiting period and youo couldn't possess certain types of firearms and all sales were automatically registered with the authorities.
Every state that has decided that regardless the US Constitution and US Supreme Court, they are going to infringe on its citizens Rights, has found loopholes by any means to do so.
Criminals don't have to go through ANY of that. They just walk down to the corner with a handful of cash.

Oldest of seven and married to a CSM for almost 20 years. I'm 5'2" and my stepsons are both 6'8" .... I had to have "the look" in order to keep them wondering if they were going to suffer something unimaginable if they didn't comply.
I also have a pretty good "come hither" look. :coffee:
