An illegal immigrant was arrested after he failed to produce legal identification when he attempted to deliver a pizza to a soldier at Brooklyn’s Fort Hamilton army base on June 1.
Ecuadorean national, Pablo Villavicencio, was directed to the Visitor Control Center to get a daily pass when he arrived on the base.
After he signed a waiver agreeing to a background check, officials were notified that an active ICE warrant was on his file and he was apprehended by ICE agents.
Villavicencio was granted voluntary departure by an immigration judge in 2010, according to a statement issued by ICE, but failed to depart the country by the date that was ordered and became an ICE fugitive.
He is in ICE custody pending removal.
Now local restaurants near the army base Fort Hamilton are refusing to serve the soldiers and boycotting the army base over its treatment of the Ecuadorian illegal immigrant.
Josefina Cardoso, owner of the El Puente restaurant in Bay Ridge, told (https://nypost.com/2018/06/07/restaurant-workers-boycott-army-base-that-called-ice-on-pizza-delivery-guy/) the New York Post that her employees want to boycott the soldiers and “I won’t send my guys there anymore.”
“I would feel guilty if something happened,” she said.
“Some people tell their bosses ‘I’m not going,’” cook and deliveryman Emanuel Kabrinny explained. “I’m not going either. If they want food, let them come here [to pick it up].”
The manager of a local bagel shop, Chris Moustakas, is also hesistant to send deliverymen to the base.
“We’re kind of afraid to send someone to the Army base this morning, and what’s the first call? From the Army base,” Moustakas said.
New York Governor Andrew Cuomo is offering to pay for Villavicencio legal fees through the Legal Defense Project and argued (https://abcnews.go.com/US/ny-governor-offers-free-legal-pizza-deliveryman-facing/story?id=55718386) U.S. immigration law is “cruel.”
“Detaining a hardworking man, separating a father from his children and tearing apart communities doesn’t make America safe, and a wrong-minded immigration policy grounded in bias and cruelty doesn’t make America great,” Cuomo said on Thursday.

Sorry, but that is not "boycotting the base". That is discriminating against US citizens based on employment.
Now, it might be a pain in the ass (or really just a bit inconvenient), but the CG of the base CAN put the town off limits to all military personnel. Trust me on this one. Been there done that. If that town is dependent on sucking US military/US gov't bucks to survive as Jacksonville. NC and Oceanside. CA are, it will squeal soon enough.
And if I was CG? That's EXACTLY what I would do. Put the f*ckers out of business.
