During a press conference Friday in Chequers with Prime Minister (http://www.oann.com/president-trump-touts-bilateral-ties-with-the-u-k-supports-may-amid-brexit-talks/#) Theresa May, President Trump highlighted the American alliance (http://www.oann.com/president-trump-touts-bilateral-ties-with-the-u-k-supports-may-amid-brexit-talks/#) with the U.K. He said the nations are committed to stopping nuclear (http://www.oann.com/president-trump-touts-bilateral-ties-with-the-u-k-supports-may-amid-brexit-talks/#)proliferation.
The two also discussed the joint effort to combat Iranian aggression and the funding of terrorism as well as the importance of border security.
May clarified the two nations remain committed to securing a free trade deal upon departure from the EU next year.
President Trump made it clear that he supports May amid Brexit negotiations, and wants to pursue free trade when negotiations conclude.
“The United States looks forward to finalizing a great bilateral trade agreement with the United Kingdom,” he stated. “This is an incredible opportunity (http://www.oann.com/president-trump-touts-bilateral-ties-with-the-u-k-supports-may-amid-brexit-talks/#) for our two countries and we will seize it fully.”
President Trump went on to say the relationship between the two cointries is the strongest it has ever been.
The president will meet with Queen Elizabeth II at Windsor Castle before he and First Lady Melania head to Scotland.
