Federal Judge Temporarily Pauses Deportation Of Reunited Illegal Aliens
A federal judge is temporarily halting the deportation of hundreds of illegal immigrants, who were recently reunited with their families.
The judge issued his decision to side with the American Civil Liberties Union Monday, which requested a one week delay.
ACLU officials said the immigrant parents need more time to figure out whether they will seek asylum.
The judge is giving the Justice Department until next Monday to file a response to the ACLU.
The Trump administration has vowed to reunite more than 2,500 immigrant children with their parents by the judge’s Thursday, July 26 deadline.
