I like watching shows about living off the grid. My favorite was Homestead Rescue on Discovery Channel staring Marty Raney.

When you do get a piece of property, get one big enough for my homestead as well.

However, not on west coast.

Idaho or Montana for me. Possibly North Carolina...

Will be plenty...big enough for you. :)

I can't image Asheville gets too many hurricane-force storms.

Will keep ya posted :)

list of North Carolina hurricanes includes 413 known tropical (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tropical_cyclone) or subtropical cyclones (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Subtropical_cyclone) that have affected the U.S. state (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/U.S._state) of North Carolina (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/North_Carolina). Due to its location, many hurricanes have hit the state directly, and numerous hurricanes have passed near or through North Carolina in its history; the state is ranked fourth, after Florida (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Florida), Texas (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Texas), and Louisiana (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Louisiana), in the number of cyclones that produced hurricane-force winds in a U.S. state.

Asheville is 400 miles from the coast. Would see wind and rain (which is fun and cozy). :)
