watching Extinction - a netflix movie.

Within a few minutes I see kids disobeying and disrespecting their parents as if its normal. During the evacuation - the parents keep giving the kids instructions and the little shits disobey...to go back and get a stupid stuffed animal, or not-get-out when the parent says get out...or when a kid is in imminent danger and dad says 'come here' and the kid screams 'no! i want mommy!' - the soyboy Dad calls for his wife to appease the kid.

parents - teach your kids to follow your instructions without question during an emergency. Instil in your kids a few basic facts:

#1 - in crisis the parents' commands are infallible and must be obeyed instantly

#b - in crisis the parents will have escape routes planned, weapons to defend the kids and alternative transportation

#omega - in crisis there is no time for crying or expecting to be 'understood' or 'validated'.

What we see in media today - and i've ranted on this before - is dumbing down the capabilities of the parents; we see spoiled little shits whose tantrus are not just tolerated, but expected and honored. We see weak, unprepared fathers who must have the kids and mom to save them from themselves.

Darwinism at work. Gotta cull the herd once in a while.

I sat on lifeguard stands for years.....beaches, pools, rivers, ponds.

Pulled many a kid out of the water. Thankfully all survived. The parents....up on a
frikkin' towel not even watching the little one(s)....getting drunk half of the time.

I was a Red Cross Lifeguard and Water Safety Instructor for over 20 years.
Don't like kids hurt because parents, older kids, or escorts are not attentive.

Not a thing wrong with Harry Potter except the showing that the Dursley's were cretins.
Lion King....just did not amuse me.
Home alone? Just plain dumb!

Take me on with any of JRR Tolkien's works. Guaranteed you will be schooled!

Big fan of Tolkien, The Silmarillion is hands down the greatest creation story I’ve read.

The bible is actually a fantastic work of fiction.

I have read it over 20 times. The man was a genius! He began the
basis for that clear back in 1914.

I have read all of his notes, rough drafts, ect., that his son Christopher combined
in to the 12 volume "A History of Middle Earth" series. That is incredibly complex.

Like Hollywood (weird), Movies are FICTION. As are most books, unless they are identified as Factual. Also, like the Democrat party of Young Snowflakes who claim everything is real, if it insults, or offends them in any way. Explaining why they OBEY instructions from Hollyweird, Fictional Characters who pretend to be Actors.

Yeah the rabbit hole of lore just goes deeper and deeper the more you look.

Of course a prized possession -

My son got me one of those for a Christmas gift....

In my persona in another web site, I was a warrior of Eriador.
Sadly the arthritis in my hands makes it difficult to use a sword, dagger,
or pike any more in the RP. But with a bow...deadly!

The bible is actually a fantastic work of fiction.

So are all works that are mythology or creation stories.

The Epic of Gilgamesh is the oldest recorded one. It predates, Greece,
Rome, and Israel.

Home Alone - stupid but some laughable moments.
Lion King - great excuse to go to movies with grandkids.
Harry Potter - never watched watched until they quit making them. Did marathon watch with grandkids this year.

Any reviews on The Last Mohican, Dances With Wolves and Braveheart.
