The "survival of our democracy" depends on removing such sites? What a load of crap. More lame reasoning to excuse deletions and stepping on freedoms. Seeing such a concerted effort, by the big guns, was rather odd. Did they coordinate?

U.S. Sen. Chris Murphy: Big Tech ‘Must Do More Than Take Down’ InfoWars

U.S. Sen. Chris Murphy (D-CT) is calling on social media monopolies to “do more than take down one website,” meaning take down more websites on top of InfoWars, which was de-platformed by YouTube, Facebook, and others on Monday.

“Infowars [sic] is the tip of a giant iceberg of hate and lies that uses sites like Facebook and YouTube to tear our nation apart,” Murphy tweeted Monday afternoon. “These companies must do more than take down one website. The survival of our democracy depends on it.”

Obviously, what Murphy sees here is an opportunity to go around the First Amendment, to kill free and open speech he disagrees with, and to accomplish that using social media giants as his hit squad.

Democrats and the establishment media are desperate to return America back to the pre-Internet days when a very few corporations controlled the free flow of information, those corporations being the four television networks and a handful of newspapers and wire services.

Conservatives now find themselves, once again, in the precarious position of being at the mercy of just a handful of companies: Twitter, Facebook, Apple, YouTube, Pinterest, etc… And what Murphy and his left-wing confederates want is to crush speech, to control the flow of information, to strangle certain ideas in the crib, and to use these monopolies as a way to go back to the “good old days” when the left-wing establishment fully controlled the dissemination of news.

If America had a media that was worth a damn, Murphy would be asked for a list of these “websites” he would like to see de-platfomed and disappeared. Unfortunately, the same media outlets that claim the First Amendment is being violated whenever they are criticized, have joined in this unholy and un-American crusade to silence their critics on the political right.

Three things...

1, Statements like... "“Infowars [sic] is the tip of a giant iceberg of hate and lies that uses sites like Facebook and YouTube to tear our nation apart,” ... coming from a democrat it translates to... "these websites constantly exposing us are making it more difficult for us radical democrats to enact or fascist agenda, so we must shut them up."

2, Again, "The survival of our democracy depends on it.” - America is a constitutional REPUBLIC, not a democracy. I realize democrats like to call America a democracy because first of all it sounds like democrat, and two, they've probably never recited the Pledge of Allegiance and were taught America is a democracy. Part of the indoctrination kids get in the leftist controlled academia. But no, America is a republic, and every time someone calls it a democracy, they should be corrected.

3, Why in the HELL hasn't an enterprising rich conservative started their OWN social media website to compete with twitter, facebook and the like? You can bet that if I won a couple hundred million on the lottery, that's exactly what I'd be doing. Yes they're established, but they're also vulnerable. I think with the right ad campaign and roll out, a conservative could put twitter and/or right out of business. They don't own the internet, fuck 'em.

As repulsive as this ploy is, the truth will always find a way to emerge.

Soon as they get rid of CNN, NBC, CBS, ABC, New York Times, Washington post. Hell. Ban all the networks and "news" sources.

Suckerberg has already defended the "right" of holocaust deniers to express themselves on Facebook. So keep that in mind when he bans or censors anything or anyone else.
